  1. Hi everyone I was banded Sept 13 and I'm down 58 lbs. I agree this has been the best money spent. With this tool and MyFitnessPal I now have passed the half way mark. I have less to lose than I have lost. Being able to loose 1.5 to 2 lbs a week is wonderful. I had moved my clothes into sizes and I'm down to 14 to 16 size. I'm soon going to bring in the 12's and 10's from the garage. There in sealed storage bins. I am also very happy to see we are all losing about the same. Way to go!!! Take care and keep smiling as we lose. Mimi

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi everyone, I was banded last September and I am still in my 50's till November. Burr scary thought turning 60 but would be worse for me if I stopped aging. I've been away from this site for a while. I was banded in Toronto Canada at Slimband Clinic they have a web site but I'm finding too many negative Nelly's ( sorry to all the Nelly's out there) and no sense of humor. I was pre op diet 237 today 181.2. I am so grateful to the people on this site who told me about the Web site MyFitnessPal.com it has helped me lose around 2 lbs a week. My biggest motivation is that I'm getting married in Late August this year. With the Lapband tool and the web site I will be able to walk down the aisle instead of toddling down. Anyway, I look forward to reading and sometimes responding ( until Nov then ill be too old hahahaha never). Good luck to all! Mimi
  3. Hi Katie Was your last fill done in the last ten days? It can take up to 10 days to get the full impact of the fill. Hopefully your not getting sick. I find some times I eat a little bit too fast and not chew enough or the food is too dry, and that happens. If you think it's the fill you may need a small defill. Good luck hope this helps. Mimi
  4. I started mash potatoes around day 19 post op for me that is when I was allowed puree foods.
  5. I was banded on Sept 13 so we are 1 day apart post op.
  6. Hi everyone I haven't been on for a while but I will pass on what I was told. I was on clear liquids for 7 days post op. I was ravenous by day 6 the Dr.s office told me that was a good sign as I was healing and the swelling had gone down so the clear liquids where passing threw quickly. I also had another problem. By day 5 I started getting diarrhea so I had to go to the bathroom all the time because I couldn't tell if it was gas or a blowout. I had a few blowouts. Once I started on the full fluids I needed to use more gas x strips. After 2 days the diarrhea stopped. I no longer felt like I need depends. Again by the end of the week I was hungry again. I'm on purée foods now and I find I sometimes still have gas in the evening. I truly think its my body getting used to ground meat, chicken, eggs & veggies. I can tell you it's worth the journey and it does get easier. Next week whole foods best of luck everyone and keep those farts coming.
  7. God bless day 6! Had wild berry Glucerna for breakfast yummy (never thought I would say that in my life). A real omg coffee & later for lunch cream of celery soup. I just had 1/2 snack saving the rest for this evening, you know when yor hubby has a snack. I haven't decided what I will have for supper yet but it's not clear broth. I am sure I will feel the sameway when I start the purée diet but everyone hang on and be positive it really does get better.
  8. Best of luck all will go well!
  9. Good luck Mike everything will go great I just know it!!
  10. Shoulder pain was the awful 1st night for me but they gave me hot packs and gas x strips and that helped a lot. Unfortuately the hot pack was so hot I discovered it burn my shoulder I had some blisters. I am now starving I am eating jello and drinking all the time to feel full. I've be told that's a good sign. I stopped using the precription pain killers yesterday and started taking tylenol muscle aches & body pain. It tastes bad too crushed but not as bad as the other. I haven't had to take one today. I'm still using the gas x strips and burping and thought if was gas pressure but luckly was on the toilet at the time. I had my first movement since the day before surgury. The left lower side where the port is was the worst pain for me. The other thing I found helped with my shoulder was doing exercises moving that muscle as much as possible. I hope this helps you. I am really looking forward to day 6 and full liquids.
  11. Well its 2 days post op for me I'm taking the pain meds. I discovered the pills are fould tasting but the liquid gravel made me feel nauseaus. Go figure. The gas strips and occational hot beany bag works great. The greatest area of pain is on my lower left side. I'm assuming that is where they put the port threw. They told me to use a heating pad on that spot and it seams to help each day it gets a bit easier. I am hanging around home though that way some little kid is saying hey that lady farted!
  12. Well I've been banded (Sept 13) and flew back the 4 hour flight to Calgary (Sept 14). I don't feel to bad but that maybe due to the demoral, gravel, gas strips, and one other durg to reduce swelling in you body. The drugs knock me out so I find I am drifting into sleep more often. I am just sipping on some chicken broth and I am going to try some jello next. Thank you everyone who has posted positive thoughts I felt it very helpful. I hope my positive post will help those of you waiting for your surgery.
  13. Well I keep falling a sleep but got banded @ 12:00 my shoulder is really sore but a hot pack helped a lot everything else find. I am drifting off again good night and good luck to all
  14. Well I'm @ the Clinic waiting to be checked in Surg @ 12:00. Wishing everyone Good Luck and also thanking everyone for support. Will let you know how it went post op.
  15. Well its 12:30 am and I can't sleep nerves and excitment I guess. My ride to the airport arrives at 5:30 and then a 4 hour flight to Toronto. I can't believe how fast time has gone I get my surgury on the 13th @ 12:00. I am hoping I will be so exhasted when I get to Toronto with the time change that I will sleep tomorrow, well I guess its really to night. I want to wish evreyone good luck with their surgury and the start of our new lives.
  16. A list was done Sept 4 you might find it helpful to update the listing of surgerys on yor listing. Mine is Sept 13 and I can't believe how fast time is going. :-)
  17. I guess I'm pretty lucky my Dr put me on a protien diet and lots of veggies. I have to have 1 snack a day and I can exchange 1 meal with a protien shake (slimfast). I'm losing weight I started last Friday and have lost 7lbs. I bought compression stockings today, thought it can't hurt since I'm flying in for surgery and then flying back home. I'm also planing my meal for the day I fly in. I'm not sure if they will let me carry it on so I'm going to box it and put it threw as my luggage. Hope your feeling well and thanks for the encouragement.
  18. I want to thank everyone so far who has been banded this month and letting us know post op how they are feeling. I go in 6 days Sept 13 and I find your information is very comforting, which makes me less nervous and more excited about my new start. Best of luck to all, and keep the good news coming.
  19. I'm getting banded Sept 13. I am quite excited I started my diet on Aug 31. I am counting down the days!

    Avacado's?

Hi everyone I am having my Surgery September 13 and yesterday started my Pre-Op diet. I was just wondering I love Avacado in my salad is it counted as an unlimited veggie or a protien or is it even allowed?
