First Fill - How much did you get?
brock1021 replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc doesn't fill at all during surgery. At 6 weeks postop you get your first fill of 2.5 cc then you go every 6 weeks as needed. It seems very conservative compared to what I read on here. -
My Doc makes you wait 6 weeks...

Thanks so much y'all!! I'm anxiously awaiting my guest fill, which is next Tuesday.

I love my coffee and waited 3 weeks postop to try it. Thankfully, no problems. I now use it as my daily "treat" and I look forward to it! I've also played around with creating my own versions of iced coffees and they are delish and low cal! Just add 1/2 cup milk, 1 pack instant coffee, and sugar free creamer to taste..blend and poor over ice! So good!

Please tell me what works for you! I'm hurting so bad! I'm 3 weeks post op. Thanks!

I've never had this problem. II had my gall bladder out 6 yrs ago, so I've always had the other problem. Thanks for y'all's quick responses..I'm desperate!

Fresh out of Surgery!
brock1021 replied to lilmispcl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your surgery!!! I had mine yesterday and the gas is by far the main problem I'm having. I've used the gas stops, walked and now wrapped up in a heated blanket ...hoping for relief soon! -
I find it surreal that I'm here, the night before my new lease on life. I went for my first consultation back in 2006 but financially things just didn't work out. A few months ago, while shopping for jeans, a had a serious breakdown. I went to nearly 10 stores looking for my size jeans in Tall length...no such luck. I sat in my car and sobbed for nearly 30 minutes then went home, empty handed. The very next afternoon, I attended a seminar. A few weeks later i started saving and planning (self pay). A few weeks after that, i called and made my appointment. And here I am! I am beyond grateful for this opportunity! Going to try to get some sleep (yea right!) surgery at 6:30 a.m.!!

Thank you all so much! Surgery went good, they repaired a large hernia. At home now sipping, warm blanket across my back & shoulders and walking laps around my house every hour. Gas pains are intense, but otherwise I'm doing good

While reading this I kept saying to myself "me too" "me too"! Well said! Congrats on your new lease on life! I'm scheduled for surgery on Thursday and I am so grateful and excited!!
-
Mine is next Thursday. I've been waiting so long for this...it seems surreal! I'm sucking at my preop diet
-
I'm scheduled for April 4th! I am a slave to coffee and diet coke I work night shift, so I unconsciously drink caffeine all the time! I started my preop diet today. It's mind over matter at this point! Best of luck to you! Lets keep in touch!

What did you tell you family/friends?
brock1021 replied to charlibell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I first decided to have the surgery, I kept it private. Then I heard though the grapevine that a coworker had it done years ago. I approached her cautiously to ask for input, advice, anything she could offer. I wasnt sure if she would talk to me about it or not...Her response changed my entire outlook...She immediately replied Yes, I had it done and its the best decision I ever made! She was so full of confidence. She has been so encouraging to me and advised me to just be honest with people. Of course, I will not go around shouting from the mountaintops, but if someone asks me then i will tell them. You will always be judged, but in the end you have to look at who you are doing this for...yourself! Be happy, be proud, be skinny I say all of this as I am waiting to go into my prep appointment. Wish me luck!! -
Love love love all these April dates!! yay for us

Anyone been banded that previously had their gallbladder removed? Just curious if/how it affected you. Thanks!!

The self pay costs for me is $11990..I am financing $6800 through care credit and the remainder I am paying in cash. As you can imagine, I've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into coming up with this much cash..so I call to make my appointment to find out that my Surgeon is charging a "fee" for financing which is almost $1,000! What?!? My "fee" should be the interest I'm paying to Care Credit. Anyone else ran into this? Luckily I have the money and scheduled the surgery (yay!)...but nonetheless I am disappointed!
