Conversion from lapband to sleeve - lower BMI
Jendkopp replied to Stella84's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
contact www.wlsappeals.com - they helped me get my band removal and sleeve conversion 100% covered at a lower bmi. it is a free phone call and they are super helpful (and saved me the $20,000 out of pocket cost of a sleeve that my dr insisted would not be covered). because the removal was necessary, you can get the conversion 100% covered as long as you request coverage before you remove the band. my dr waits 3 months between removal and conversion, but the key was to request ins approval for conversion when requesting coverage for removal in order to get both converted. hope this helps. -
Anyone get sleeve surgery and find out their surgeon made their sleeve too big? How did you determine that? Did you get re-sleeved? Did re-sleeving make you more successful? Thanks!
-
i was sleeved on dec 19, 2018 and just got confirmation that my sleeve was not shaped properly. it's hour-glass shaped and too large at the bottom half

@ladydeenj: how has your weight loss been after the re-sleeve?

Lap band removed no revision
Jendkopp replied to Jennet's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
when my dr removed my band, she accidentally left a stitch in my stomach that caused my stomach to create a little pouch that would trap food and cause awful reflux for 3 months -
lindstrom obesity advocacy helped me. they are experts in WLS appeals - you should give them a call. they give you a free consult. www.wlsappeals.com

if you like caramel, lean body makes a salted caramel that's fantastic. i get mine at publix
-
I asked my dr this question and she assured me that liquids won’t stretch the sleeve
-
Mine start at 3 months
-
You’re gonna be fine! They sew the port into your muscle under the fat
-
There was no confirmation. I think most doctors assume three month is long enough to heal if there are no symptoms

I know I’m only 4.5 weeks post-op, but I’m concerned about how to get enough nutrition when limited to 4oz of food. I’m still on puréed, so I’m hungry all the time. Last night was my first time back to exercise, and I had no energy. How will I have enough energy to work out when I’m only eating 4oz meals. I know some will say to not exercise for a while, but I’m a group fitness instructor and can’t just quit.

I did, about 8 pounds

Conversion from lapband to sleeve - lower BMI

I gained about 8 pounds between Band and sleeve. I'm not on solids yet, so I'm hungry a lot, but 4oz does satisfy me for an hour or two -
Thanks guys! Bring a group fitness instructor is my side “fun” job. Good to know the energy will come back eventually

Lap band January 2019 surgery date
Jendkopp replied to Linda.fultz@adm.com's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 6 years ago, followed all the rules, and lost 90 pounds. Then my band slipped, which required repositioning surgery in 2014 - 1.5 years after getting the band. Had to have the band removed aug 2018 and converted to sleeve -

I had the band, lost 90 pounds, had a slip, had repositioning surgery, and then never able to get a good fill. Had the band removed in aug 2018 and then sleeved dec 2018 at 209 pounds. I’m only a month out, so I don’t have a lot of experience, but I did lose 16 pounds since sleeve surgery -
Who has had the sleeve? How did you do? Pros and cons? Would you do it again?
Jendkopp replied to HMA's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the band and lost 90 pounds. However, it slipped after 1.5 years, and I had repositioning surgery. Never quite worked the same after that. So 4 years later I got the band removed, and 3 months later (last month) I got the sleeve. I would not recommend the bad. It seems to cause problems for the majority after a few years -
1wk post-op easy to drink fluids already ??
Jendkopp replied to MMC8021's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i was able to drink normally and get 60oz of water in by day 5. i specifically asked my surgeon about stretching the pouch with liquids, and she said that i would not as long as i was not chugging 24 oz in a minute -
each day you will feel even better. in a few days, you'll be back to normal
