My dr said that once the band slips, it's more likely to slip again in the future.
-
My band slipped in feb of 2014. Did a complete unfill for 6 weeks and band immediately went back into place. Started getting fills again in March, and it slipped again in July. Had revision surgery on July 29 to reposition the band.

I have had a lap band slip. After the slip, I started having heartburn and has difficulty eating foods that were normally easy to eat (string cheese, quest bars). I suggest getting a barium swallow done to get objective evidence of what is going on. When I first went in, the dr said to try to follow the rules better because I thought maybe I was talking bites that were too big or not chewing enough. A few weeks later my dr got a fluro machine and I did a swallow and found that the band had slipped. No horrible pains, just a lot of heartburn at night and difficulty eating food that should've gone down easily.

I would say you need at least a week, perhaps up to 2 weeks.

Problems with my Lap Band (port). New here to this forum.
Jendkopp replied to ProudWife99's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I thought you were describing symptoms consistent with band erosion. When a band erodes the stomach, the symptoms show via infection/pain in the port. -
Please call your dr. Heartburn is a sign of a slipped band. I had a little bit of heartburn, did a barium swallow, and found that my band had slipped. Please get it checked out

If your surgeon thinks you should, you should follow his/her advice. I had an issue with heartburn for a few days and learned my band had slipped. I believe its better to be proactive and get tests to fix things before it gets too bad.

Super confused! Help! Hubby threw me a loop!
Jendkopp replied to Tracic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the band because i was afraid to have staples inside of me. Also, i love carbs, and the band makes it very hard for me to eat bread, pasta, and rice, which has helped me to lose 90 pounds so far. The downside to the band is all the adjustments, and i have not yet found the elusive green zone. Both surgeries have their own pros and cons, and you will likely be successful with either if you follow the rules -
Dr. Tiffany Jessee at Suncoast Bariatrics is the best. She's located right off of 275 at Ulmerton. My husband and i both got lap bands from her.

Unfortunately, i has slight pouch dilation, and before it occurred, i was getting stuck and felt general discomfort in my chest while eating. Be careful and stop eating when you are no longer hungry; do not eat until you feel full. Best of luck!

Need an explanation about "restriction"....
Jendkopp replied to chasingadream's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, restriction is the tightness of my band, which makes it harder/slower for the food to pass thru, which fills my small pouch up and makes me feel satisfied from a small quantity of food. -
HOT MESS here! Pre-op craziness.
Jendkopp replied to NerdGirly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are feeling is totally normal. Like everyone else said, the surgery is very easy - they will put an iv in, you will go to sleep, and then you will wake up banded. One of the best decisions i have made. The weight loss community on this site, facebook, and youtube are amazing - i have made some great friends thru these resources. Good luck, you will do great! -
December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
Jendkopp replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
naturallyjai: you shouldn't think of it as being stalled - you've lost 60 pounds! i've lost almost 58 pounds (i was banded on dec 19). you are doing amazing with only 3 ccs in your band! i have the same approach as you - everything in moderation. i refuse to be on a diet - i am eating the same today as i plan to eat after i reach my goal. there are no foods that are off limits, i just make sure that my portions are appropriate. good luck on your journey -
I have both a polar heart rate monitor and a bodymedia armband. I feel like the bodymedia armband may be overestimating the amount of calories I'm burning. Plus, the armband costs much more than the polar heart rate monitor.

Brown some 93% fat free ground beef and mix with spaghetti sauce and ricotta cheese. I pureed the combination and enjoyed the mushy meat sauce -
Can You Ever Drink Too Much Water?
Jendkopp replied to farmgirl04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon if i could stretch my pouch from drinking too much water too quickly, and she said no. -
Loathing water after fill
Jendkopp replied to Trikki87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to LOVE water pre-band, but now it takes all my energy to get 64 oz in per day. I guess my diet used to be saltier and i could drink with meals. Now that i don't drink with meals, i'm honestly rarely thirsty. Granted, i haven't been back to exercising (that starts this weekend), but i can't believe how hard it is to get my water in! -
I've pureed low fat beef in spaghetti sauce with ricotta cheese, and it tasted great...

Pass the Small Fork...
Jendkopp replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and i got banded 3.5 weeks ago, and we bought small forks, spoons, and plates. We really like them and think they help us take smaller bites and make the portions look less small. -

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
Jendkopp replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Danarose: i'm having a tough time getting all my water in too. I used to drink so much water, but i now realize i was drinking so much with my food and right afterwards. Now that we can't drink before, during, or right after meals, i find it to be hard to get all my water in. Once i can get back to the gym, i know i'll be getting more water in. -
