    Reflux AFTER Band removal

UPDATE: when my dr did the sleeve, she noticed my stomach was super bloated and still had food in it. The cause - she had left a stitch in my stomach during the band removal surgery 3.5 months earlier, and that portion of my stomach made a pocket that was trapping food and causing reflux. @marilyn1955: did your dr not prescribe PPIs for reflux. i'm on nexium for 1 year post sleeve
  3. Did anyone have their Band removed and then get reflux? I'm not asking about reflux after getting a new WLS. I had my Band removed and am waiting to get the sleeve next month (my Dr does Band removal and conversion WLS as two separate surgeries so the stomach can heal), and I've just gotten awful reflux that started after Band removal. Anyone else?

    Please help

i was banded for 5.5 years. throwing up daily is not normal - get a barium swallow to ensure that your band has not slipped. clearly, your band is too tight, which can lead to a slip, esp when you are throwing up

    My progress

hey there! i am only 3 weeks post-sleeve, but i felt completely normal by day 5. my diet progression is super slow, so i hope when i get to regular foods, i will feel a difference. i have no problem getting 75 oz of water in per day, plus 90 grams of protein thru protein shakes
  6. i had taped a lot of shows ahead of time that i hadn't had time to watch: how to get away with murder, leathal weapon, etc. i also loved the marvelous mrs maisel on amamzon - first season is better than the second. if you want some brain candy - watch 90 day fiance - it's total garbage but it will get you hooked
  7. call me crazy, but i enjoyed having 2.5 weeks off from work. i binged watched a bunch of tv shows and relaxed. i was really lucky that i was only on pain meds for 3 days (which made me super sleepy). after that, i relaxed at home and with friends.

From a band to a sleeve

my dr does band to sleeve conversions in two separate surgeries, in part to let your body go back to pre-wls so getting the sleeve will be more like a first wls. i got the band removed 8/28 and was sleeved 12/18. i'm just over 2 weeks post-op, so i can't give you much more info than that. sleeve start weigh 209.4; current weight 198.6
  9. Just wondering about the success of people who converted from band to sleeve. Also looking for people getting the conversion from band to sleeve before the end of this year. I got my band removed 8/28 and I’m converting to the sleeve on 12/18. So excited!

    Calcium Chews

Sweettoothless: why did your dr say to stay away from gummies? Mine told me gummies were fine
  11. Or if it hurts where your port is, it could be that that area is still tender. After I ate, my stomach would press on the area where the port was removed, and that hurt for a little bit

    How much is to much?

I asked my dr about that. She assured me that liquids pass right thru and there was no real restriction on drinking amounts
  13. I had my band removed and had to wait 3 months to get the sleeve. After band removal I had horrible bloating and reflux, which I did not have with the band. When my dr did the sleeve last week she found that she had left a part of my stomach stitched, which created a pocket and trapped food inside. So glad she found it when doing my sleeve

    December 2018 Sleevers!

@Skc150: my surgeon makes ppl wait 6 months after Band removal so their stomach can heal, so as not to staple the delicate tissue left after scar removal. She also believes that the time will allow our body to go back to normal so the sleeve will feel like a new WLS. My insurance changes in January, so she agreed to let me have the sleeve surgery in dec
  16. @Cm3540 I emailed my # too, and I didn't get included in the text group
  17. Band removed 8/28. Did an upper gi last month and there was food still in my stomach after 15 hours of fasting. Surgeon said that it could be gastroparesis (what you're getting the gastric emptying test to check for), but if it is, Sleeve would still be ok. Waiting to get sleeved next week, 12/18
  18. I want to be included. Vsg on dec 18. I’ll email you my phone number

    Lap band removed!

@RayLandry: you should contact Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy, they can help you appeal the denial for a few hundred dollars (instead of the thousands that surgery will cost). they will only take your appeal if they believe they can win. they helped me to get everything approved. here's there website: www.wlsappeals.com
