  1. I was denied earlier this year by bcbsil. I can not remember the exact reason but I believe it was because I had no major health issues, besides my weight. But I have had some bothering issues since then and also want to try again. I was wondering if anyone went through this (being denied) and got approved the 2nd or 3rd time around, if so what did you do? I havent applied/signed up yet. Attending seminar on the 24th. (bcbs members would be awesome to reply back but anyone else is more than welcomed if had similar problem)
  2. May 7th for me. Finally!!!
  3. I am almost done with my 6 month supervision diet. I'm on my 5th month. March is my last. It's going by quickly. My bmi is 55/56, I have yet to lose a pound. Well, I lost 3 pounds in 2 months but gained that back plus an additional 6 pounds. Yup, 9 pounds. I've been eating and exercising the same as my pcp told me too. I guess I am just worried I wouldn't be able to get the surgery because of my weight gain after doing all of this. hopefully I have lost weight when I do my next 2 weigh ins. Has anybody gained weight during the 6 months diet and was approved? Tell me your experiences. Thanks. PS, I have bcbsil H.M.O & my surgeon will be Vafa Shayani. They want you to lose 10% of your starting weight. Not sure if it's required but they said it helps the liver for day of surgery? (if this info helps any)

    Discouraged... :(

I did call them and they told me that they are not responsible of whether I get the surgery or not, they just pay for it if my PCP approves of me getting it. H.M.O requirements run a bit different than PPO. That's why I wanted to find out if someone had similar problems as me. I will try calling the Bariatric Center where I attend and try getting some info from them in the morning.

Thanks everyone. I dont have any additional problems like sleeping/breathing problems or high blood pressure (even though I'm on the border of having it my doc says) or anything else. Just been overweight most of my life.
  6. hellooos! I am currently on my 6 months diet for my insurance to approve me to get the band so YAY and GOODLUCK FOR ME lol. I've been reading threads and I see alot of peoples talking about how they eat and what they eat to lose the weight but I never really see anything additional about exercise. My question to you all is, do you exercise often? If so what type of exercises do you do? Or do you pretty much leave it up to the types of foods and portions you eat to lose? Just a curious future bander

I will check the youtubers out now! I have been doing basic cardio and 30 min walks lol but I just found it interesting how I didnt really see anything about workouts lol.
  9. Do bcbs really make you do the 6 month wait/programs if you have H.M. O instead of ppo? I thought the 6 month proof was changed.

  11. I'm not sure. My cousin had lap band who is also with bcbsil and she didnt have to go through much. She also didnt have major health issues, just over 40 with the bmi. She was approved within 2 weeks after they sent her info to the insurance company. Similar with a friend of the family. She was approved pretty fast.
  12. Ok and nope not yet. I will ask the doctor when i go back to the clinic to make an appt for the test.
  13. Yes I have a history of high blood pressure and my dad side of the fam has a history for bad hearts and weight problems. My bmi is also over 40. I am not sure what my previous doctor sent them to look at because I thought they would of,approved me. I have to change doctors at the same clinic so I will see what this one has to say as well. Also thank you. Your infomation is very helpful.
