I drink Protein shakes as a meal replacement in the morning...the one i usually drink is a soy protein shake that is 170 a scoop per 8 ounces. I brought a shaker bottle when i was doing my pre op diet so i just use that to measure. I take 8 ounces of fat free milk, which i would check the calories on the mill i try to buy milk that is 90 calories and the only place i can find it is stop and shop but just look around. Honestly, i switch it up one week ill drink shakes for breakfast and one week ill eat a 1/2 a cup of food just your preference. What i have noticed is having six small meals instead of three has helped alot. I eat alot of fruit and yogurt as well. I also tried to keep track of all the foods i eat and calories that are in them. Im also considering becoming a vegan or a Pescetarian because i have a hard time with alot of meats and plus i would miss chicken, red meat, or pork. Hopes this help

She could try that if she was white but being african american our skin is different and we heal differently. I had the surgery and my scars faded considerably.

This is the main reason why i became a secret squirrel. Like everybody told me your young so the skin will probably stretch back.

After i got my ass chewed out by my surgeon last week ive been really working hard to eat Breakfast and do what i am suppose to do. Ive only been eating 4oz meals. I weighed myself at home yesterday and i was 313.8. I had an appointment with my primary doctor today and I got weighed and im down to 310 and thats after i ate lunch. I am excited to start to see the scale go down. Hopefully i can hit my goal weight by the end of September. AJ

My first goal weight is to b under 300lbs.

The last time I was weighed at my doctor's office I was 316. I didn't want to weigh myself at home because I think my scale is off however I got on the scale a few minutes ago and I weighed 313.8. I'll take that idk if it's just my morning weight or what. AJ

Thank you! I was weighing myself everyday and I would get depressed because I wasn't seeing the results I wanted. I started eating 4oz meals and doing what I'm suppose to do. All I have to do is start exercising. I have UFC trainer for Xbox Kinect and I want to get Zumba as well.

So today i started to eat soft foods after i had my fill on Wednesday doing the liquids for two days was not as hard as it usually is because i didnt feel like eating. Today i had my 4 oz of food for Breakfast, lunch i had a snack pack pudding, and for dinner i had 4 oz of chicken and rice Soup, a recipe that i got off the lapband website. I work weird hours on the weekends so now i am hungry but i dont want to eat so late. Im trying to drink enough Water so that when i get home i can just go to bed. My co worker was shocked that all i was having was 4 oz of soup for dinner but he told me it will all pay off in the end. I also have a weird sleeping pattern as well where i sleep for a couple of hrs and then im up for the rest of the night. I make sure my meals consist of Proteins but i dont get why im still hungry. Lapband And Wine Or Alcohol Once In Awhile?

YOU CAN DO THIS! Dont give up. At one point or another we all struggle. Im at the point now i am second guessing having the band and not another weight loss surgery. But i havent given up and neither can you.

I am struggling too. Ive had the band for 6 months and havent lost the weight i want to lose. What i am starting to do now is eat 6 small meals instead of 3. My meals usually consist of chicken topped with a little bit of cheese or baked fish with a vegetable or a salad. If i am hungry a couple hours later i would have cut up fruit or a yogurt. I also dont eat breakfast which i found out can cause you to gain weight so now i either have a packet of instant oatmeal or grits or a protein shake. I am also starting to limit my carb intake and reduce my sugar. Because i wasnt getting that full feeling i was eating larger portions. After going to the doctor for my 3rd fill he told me that my meals should be a 1/2 a cup so i went to walmart and brought tupperware that was 1/2 cup so that i wouldnt be tempted to eat large portions. He also told me to take 20 min to eat the food and stop after that whether your full or not.

I saw those shakes in pathmark and i wanted to try it because i dont eat breakfast and yesterday the nurse at my doctors office said that not eating breakfast can actually cause you to gain weight yike! i drank a soy Protein shake but im looking for something that has less carbs and sugar. Let me know how it works out for you! Good luck! AJ

I have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield through Healthy NY, which is an *** and I was able to get approved. I was on Blood pressure meds and my BMI was over 50 so it was medically necessary. That was the only way they would cover the surgery. The fact that you have high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes the insurance company should cover it. That was my concern going for the surgery and my surgeons assistant said even if i have to fight with the insurance company to get you approved i will because of everyone could go on a diet to lose weight they would but everybody cant. Once i was done with all the pre surgical requirements it took about 2 weeks to hear a response. I also needed letters from my primary doctor and my cardiologist that was sent to the insurance company to help with the approval. Good luck to you and i hope this helps!

Today I got 1cc put into my band so now I am at 6cc total. Originally I thought I gained 9lbs but when I was weighed at the doctors office I only gained a pound. My doctor wants me to lose five pounds by next month which is when I see him again. He did however give me a kick in the butt as far as motivation. AJ

Confession For My Own Good....
AJohnson05 replied to RhondaMarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand how you feel i am n a similar situation. Ive been stressed for the past week and ive been eating things i normally would not have eaten. Today i was sitting here thinking that i can do well all month and the week before i go to the doctor i start eating crap. Then once i get to the doctor's office i get yelled at because they want to know why i am gaining weight. I am learning not to stress over the bad days just get back on the band wagon. You can do this! AJ -

This week i have veered off of my diet alot. Due to birthdays and a going away party for a co worker ive eaten alot of junk that for the past couple of months i wouldnt have normally eaten. Ive already weighed myself and have gained tremendously. I have a doctors appointment wednesday for an adjustment but im a little upset with myself because i havent been losing the weight like i want to and i feel like i get distracted sometimes. Ive been in the gym at least 3 days a week but i still feel like its not enough. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I go to the doctor tomorrow morning i will definity have my band filled because i dont feel alot of restriction. Thank you again!
