  6. So, I was pretty stoked this morning to get on my scale and finally see the 50+ pounds lost mark. It was quite the moment and it made me appreciate every ounce of the 51 pounds that I am now rid of! Having always been an athlete, it was scary to watch all of my excess pounds pile on after a few injuries left me unable to compete anymore. Then you become complacent (or at least I did), the outright lazy. The thought of getting off of the couch long enough to go for a run on the treadmill was just too much to think about, let alone actually getting off my a$$. It amazes me how my eating habits changed right along with my exercise habits (or lack of). I ate every single thing that I had never allowed myself to indulge in prior to my injuries…and enjoyed every, single bite. I couldn’t figure out how SOOOO much weight was piling on my body. I figured that is just how my body was originally supposed to be, and it just never was, since I was such an active person. Or, that is how I justified it to myself. So, now, after this morning’s humbling moment on the scale, I am 15 pounds away from my surgeon’s goal weight for me (and 40 pounds away from my own personal goal weight) but I am now on the other half of the battle (where the pounds lost weigh more than the pounds still to lose!) So, maybe it isn’t considered a NSV, but today, it totally felt like a victory!! It was a wonderful morning, a very humbling moment that made me feel for the first time in a very long time, that I am on the right track with my health. I didn’t really Celebrate my six month bandaversary (which was 3/27/13) because I was in the middle of a plateau and frustrated, so today, I am celebrating!! This site is inspiring, every one’s stories are inspiring!

  9. Whew...so glad I found this post! I am just getting past my first big plateau! Yesterday was my 6 month bandiversary, and I had hit quite the stand still from 5-6 months. Inches were coming off, but the scale was not moving! I had an over-fill, had to go in for a small un-fill and during that time gained about 4 pounds back (which in the scheme of things is not a lot of weight, but to me, it felt like tons!) Proud to say, that I have now lost those 4 pounds, plus another 2 pounds! I am back on track!
  10. I was banded on September 27th. I have had zero issues. Gas pain subsided quickly with heating pad after surgery, everything has been going so smoothly, I almost wondered if my surgeon actually put the band in! I have lost close to 50 pounds since surgery, I feel wonderful most days. I had my first full of 1.5 cc's at the end of October, adding to the 2.5 cc's put in at surgery. Surgeon told me in December I did not need a fill. I believe he was very accurate as I did not have any issues with hunger until a week ago. I went for a fill yesterday, he put in .5 cc's. I understand that there is swelling, what not. I am able to drink, I have stuck to a liquid diet since the fill as instructed. Today, I have the worst heartburn EVER! All day. I was out of Prilosec. Which is my own fault, just went and got some and took one. I am concerned that I am too tight? Anyone have any advice? Everything goes down, with no problems. Just horrible heartburn (which I have not had ever)
  11. So hubby and I booked a cruise today for May 25, 2013. I have about 16 weeks of time before we go, my goal is to be down another 20 pounds by then!! It's the little goals that make the big picture seem that much more possible! 20 pounds in 16 weeks is totally attainable, right? I am not setting an unrealistic goal here, am I? 12. After getting out of the shower today, I noticed a normal bath towel fits all the way around me now! Not a beach towel, but a normal size bath towel! It covers all of me, that if need be, I could walk out of the bathroom with no worries! I am unsure of how long it has been in my life since one fit around me! Wow, it's the little things that make this journey so encouraging!! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  13. I have lost 44 pounds, but I feel as I have lost more inches than pounds! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  14. I FINALLY broke through to Onederland!! 198.8! Super stoked to see that number on the scale today, after about a 3 week stall!! The amped up protein and super amped up work outs really helped! Thank you everyone on here for all your great inspiration and advice! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Mis73, I have to thank you! Your carb-cycling thread has been super beneficial!! Your success is amazing! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  17. I am 2 weeks ahead of you (just about 16 weeks out from surgery) and have hit my first stall. The scale hasn't moved in close to 2 weeks! I am starting to drive myself crazy with the frustration! However, I have come to realize the weight didn't pile on overnight, so it will not come off overnight. (I am grasping for any reason to not throw the scale in the lake!!) this weekend I really amped up the workouts, changing things up a bit, and am trying the carb cycling! Hang in there, hopefully the scale will show results for both of us soon! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

    Struggling

Somewhere on here I found a recipe for "protein drop" Cookies. It was one box sf cheesecake pudding box, I block of cream cheese and one egg. Mix that all up, do little spoonful drops onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8 minutes at 350 (I believe, I will have to double check the temp) they are wonderful little treats! 20. I went for my 12 week follow up appointment on Friday. My surgeon was called out for surgery, so I met with one of the other surgeons in the office, whom I have met before, so I did not mind. My last follow up appointment was on October 30th (a month and 3 days after surgery) at which point I received a 1.5 cc fill, adding to the 2.5 cc's put in at time of surgery, for a total of 4 cc's in my 10 cc band. My surgeon was certain that I would need another fill by this next appointment (on Friday), however the other surgeon that I met with went on and on about how well I was doing. I have lost 30 pounds since surgery on 9/27/12. He said I have lost 23% of my excess weight in less than 3 months and said in his opinion I do not need a fill. When averaged out over the weeks since surgery I am losing about 2.33 pounds per week, which he said was amazing. I guess my question is, how many of you have gone in for a scheduled fill and not received one? He told me to call anytime before my next scheduled appointment to come in for a fill if I feel that I need one. What signs will I have if I need one? I am still very new to being banded and am looking for some Band Vets advice here. I do limit myself to a cup of food per meal, stay below 1100 calories a day, most days am successful of getting in all my Protein. I do snack between meals, still staying in my caloric range for the day. Like I said, I feel like I am missing something, or uneducated as to how I will know if I need a fill?? Thanks for any advice in advance and Merry Christmas to everyone!! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
