    Sleep Apnea , Now What?

They know how to take precautions and it is better for them to know ahead of time. You will be fine!

    Corset trunkplasty!

How painful has the recovery been? I need a total body lift. I have lost 165 lbs and am much older then you so I sag everywhere! I am worried to get started.

    5 Days post op Bloat????

It is normal. I actually felt bloated for 4 weeks. I didn't have the gas pain, but did lots of burping. Walk as much as you can, small amounts at a time. I got up every hour during the day and walked in the house.
  5. It is different for everyone. I have not had any problems. I stick to good food choices, a cup to a cup and a half each meal and exercise every day. When I had my band placed, something in my brain turned on and I was no longer hungry. One fill only and at my goal in 13 months. It is something you will have to experiment with and do what works for you. The same foods, exercise, amount of fills is different for everyone!

    Salads

I agree with the slider issue. If I eat salad it is spinach and lots of Protein. Spinach is good for you, high in bit A. For some reason, I have been low in Vit A. I do like Sweet Tomatoes because I can pick everything that goes on the salad. Thus, less lettuce more stuff!

    What does it feel like

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Sleep Apnea , Now What?

That is not uncommon. I had to use the CRAP mask for eight months. Now I don't have to anymore. Hopefully it will be temporary for you too. Once I got used to it I couldn't believe how much better I felt. I definitely was not getting a good nights sleep!
  9. It is different for everyone. Work with your NUT to see what is good for you. I was only eating 500-600 calories my first year and burning 400-500. Now I eat 800-900 while maintaining.

    When to go off medications?

I worked with my PCP and reviewed my bloodwork every three months. It was about six months and we started lowering my blood pressure meds because my numbers were getting lower and lower. Then I was eventually off them before a year was up. I was never on any meds for diabetes, but tested every day because I failed the drinking test and my numbers ran a little high. Those are all normal. My cholesterol has been the slowest to drop, but I have cut my med down to half the dose so far. It does take time. Keep testing yourself because you do not want your blood sugar to go down or spike a lot. If she is noticing that you are having to lower your incision amount then that should be good. Just keep monitoring it as things change all the time as you change what you eat and as you are losing weight. I lost 165 pounds, so that was a huge difference to my body.

    Day 1

Stay strong. Whenever you feel hungry, drink! It will get better.

Burning & nausea after first fill

Could be. Do what your dr said and do the liquids and then mushies. If it persists, call and have some taken out. I am surprised they put 5cc in for the first fill!
  13. You have to be creative to get your prrotein. My NUT always said don't eat if you are not hungry and you should never be too tight and not be able to eat real food. She also was not worried about getting 60g of Protein once healed. She reminded me that if we ate like we were supposed too, even with real food, you may not get 60g every day. I have followed her word to the tee, had blood work done every 3 months and have not had any problems. I do not drink any protein and didn't after three months. It took a while for my brain to listen!

    Does this band work!??

Thanks. Actually, I am down 164 pounds now. It took me 14 months. Still exercise everyday and track everything I put in my mouth!
  15. Great job, you look amazing! I was banded 1/30/12 and started at 330. I have been at goal for 3 months now and am at 166. Yes, it can be done. I ate 500-600 calories while losing and exercised everyday. Now I eat about 800-900 calories and still exercise every day. Good luck to all the newbies.

    Pre Op Weight Loss

I wasn't required to lose any, just leaner how to eat better and how to adjust to banded life.

    Can you start over?

The Doctors had a great segment last week that talked about visually measuring food with your hand. The palm of your hand cupped is 1/2 a cup. If you lay you hand open flare the palm of your hand is 3 ounces of meat. Your thumb to the first knuckle is a tablespoon. This makes it a little easier to eye up your food if you don't have measuring tools available. I sometimes eat smaller amounts more frequently. You just have to change it up and see what works for you. You can do this! Good luck and keep us posted.

    Day 1

My preop diet was a week of low carb high protein. All dr seem to do something a little different.

    Does this band work!??

I agree with Carolinagirl. You may need to have your doctor check and see if you don't have a leak he may be putting it in, but it isn't staying. I find it hard to believe you can eat anything with 11cc. Request that he check it. He can do an unfill and measure how much comes out.

    Finally!!

I eat about a cup to 1 and 1/2 every six hours or so. You don't have to limit yourself to so little is you exercise a LOT.
