Survey: How many cc's did you get in your first fill?
SueBee01 replied to beanie80's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have only had one fill of 2ccs since being banded 1/30/12. -
Are you tracking everything? Are you eating real food or drinking or are you eating sliders. If you are sliming, I would say too tight and you need to get to a point where you can eat real food without sliming. I exercise every day. It is a huge commitment, but it got the weight off (165 pounds) in 14 months. You just have to find the right combination. Have you been seeing your nutritionist? Mine really helped me along with tracking EVERYTHING!

Getting REALLLY Nervous! Getting Banded on 7/26/13!
SueBee01 replied to txgirl10326's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is normal to be nervous before any surgery. Just keep you eye on the prize. The tool to help you. I hope you have started to make life changes already. Anything you do prior to surgery will only help. I cut out soda and white flours. Good luck. -
Restriction definition
SueBee01 replied to Melllima's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor may have primed your band at surgery, so it may not be empty. Some people don't ever need a fill so you need to call them right away. If you are following the rules of 2-3 ounces of protein in very small bites you should not be getting stuck with no fill. Please call them. -
Feel free to ask your questions here. There are a lot of people that will help you. If you are not comfortable send me a message and I will be happy to assist. It is a huge learning curve to live with the changes and control your new eating habits.

Make sure you get up and walk every hour. That will help from sitting too long. Good luck!

How many calories do you consume at goal?
SueBee01 replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is between 800-1000 and I exercise everyday. Still trying to balance that out and may not need to exercise as intense but I find it hard to fit more good/quality calories above that. I am sure I will figure it out because I don't want to lose anymore. -
Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"
SueBee01 replied to Chickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't know this group existed either! I reached goal in April this year. Just had hip replacement and still holding steady even without my normal exercise routine. -
That's amazing. All I know is my doctor put in a hip that is good for athlete's and should last up to 50 years! I was non weight bearing for the first 6 weeks. I started work after the first week, but from home. I am on day two with a cane now and it is going well. Mine is an ingrowth prosthetic so it needed six weeks for the bone to growth into the steel rod and I have a ceramic lining and ball. My dr is very cautious! I am home six more weeks with physical therapy 2-3 times a day and hope to be back golfing and tennis by the first of October. I actually only have a scar that is like 3 inches long right under my cheek. I told him I wasn't worried about it because I will be having plastic surgery one of these days! Best wishes to you too!

Got off my walker and to a cane today. Week six post op from my hip replacement. Can't wait to see what the next week brings!

In these early months, you can get your added protein through shakes and food. Later on you should convert to just food. Be selective to get your protein.

My dr and NUT has never had me count calories. I just did it on my own. They were more focused on following the eating guidelines and eating healthy. No calorie goal has ever been set for me.
-
Don't forget that your body needs carbs, just good ones. I just avoid the white flour and sugar (as much as possible). My NUT wants you to eat good carbs, that is one of your fiber sources too. Don't be afraid, just be cautious. I did the same thing in the beginning, I avoided all carbs and my NUT said to quit that!
-
Just keep a small snack in your purse like peanut butter crackers or some almonds. My NUT is ok with skipping meals. If you are not hungry don't eat! I always have healthy snacks as my meal times are "you never know when!"
-
You are doing well with the weight loss. Other than the chocolate and juice, you are fine. Try a small snack if you get hungry. I sometimes just have six almonds and a couple pieces of dry cereal in between meals. Don't make it another meal to tie you over. Drinking the juice just washes the food you ate through so you won't stay feeling satisfied. Try eating your fruit instead of drinking it. I only drink water or flavored water, everything else is in solid form. No protein drinks either once you are to be on solid foods. It really makes a difference.

You shouldn't notice anything until you eat slid Proteins. And you should only notice that when eating the suggested amount of food, dense Protein, veggies and good carbs with no Water for 30 minutes, you should feel satisfied, not full. It is never about being full, it is about being satisfied. That is also why it is important to eat foods you enjoy so you don't crave something else. The mind likes to play lots of head games. Don't measure your fill on Liquid Protein or mushies.

You will gain and lose all the time. If you weigh yourself every day only actually count it once a week. I weigh myself every day, but Monday is my "weigh-in" day. You weight will constantly fluctuate. Your body is also healing and has lots of fluid in it from surgery so don't expect a lot for several weeks. Just keep moving!

Make sure you take your pain meds. You need to be able to sleep to heal. Walk a lot too and drink, drink, drink. It will get better!

Welcome back Chrissy! Hope you had a great vacation. I know you can get back on track. Remember, it doesn't take a lot of exercise to get you back started, just do a little every day to get you going again!

Everyday. Anything inside or out just to burn some calories. I try to ride 5 miles a day depending on the weather or swim, lift weights, bands or elyptical.
