I don't think the sweet tooth ever goes away as that was my problem. You just have to find an alternative, food or nonfood to take it's place. I don't notice it so much anymore. Yesterday I had an Oreo cookie and afterward I said, that wasn't really worth it. Your taste buds will change. Stick with it, you will get there!

That was great!

That's easy, NO. If you are working toward a healthy lifestyle, absolutely no. Sorry, I am a prior smoker.

Restriction? How Do You Jnow Youre There?
SueBee01 replied to Chiflado's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check your calorie intake with your exercise. I usually try to exercise away 3/4 of the calories I take in each day. Typically I eat 550 calories and exercise off 400 each day. It's working for me. Talk to your nutritionist. They will go over everything you are eating and let you know. They all have different programs. It took. Me several months to figure out what works for me. Also, you should not be throwing up! Keep in mind that yogurt alone is a slider, it will not make you feel full. If you are on mushies, that is ok. When I had my first fill I was told liquids for 2 days and then mushies for 2 days before returning to normal food. Your stomach has to adjust to the fill as it causes swelling. Try a Protein drink for the first couple days, then yogurt. If you continue to have problems, you need to get a small unfill. Best wishes! -
Please Help Me Understand Post Op Diet Rules Normal Diet Importance Of Carbs & Cals
SueBee01 replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
RhondaMarie, that is exactly where I was. It was really hard for me to get used to not eating at normal times. It took me 4 months to get it through my head every time I saw my NUT as she kept telling me "only eat when you are hungry." she said to quit counting the Protein as I was drinking it down, because I was never hungry! She said eat the right food, protein first and only when I am hungry. It was slow at first until my brain caught up with me. I had a stall at four months out until I listened to her and now I am losing 3 lbs a week and still not hungry. A glass of lite choc soy milk on my way to work as I don't drink coffee and two meals. Tons of Water, a glass of it with me where ever I go! I agree with others. Everyone is different and each NUT/surgeon has different programs. In the beginning I thought I was doing the right thing by following everyone else's lead, but it wasn't working for me. You need to constantly work with your WLS team. That is what they are there for and that is what you are paying them for! -
Just don't let yourself get constipated! It is terrible, believe me. That was a newbie issue I had to deal with. You are eating a lot less now so you will not go like clockwork! You need to take supplements as you do not have the Fiber intake you used to and you are taking in a lot more Protein. Drink lots of Water and look at adding a powder fiber to your drinks. I also take a stool softener each day and if I do not have a normal movement every 3-4 days, I take Senacot (a natural laxative). Good luck!

Congratulations! Try diluting the crystal light so that it is not full strength. I found that just a little flavor helps and even mixing a couple together as the lemonade is very powerful! I make a pitcher of lemonade and add a little extra Water and another flavor like peach tea to it when i pour it into a glass. Sometimes the color is not great, but I like the different flavors so that I don't get tired of it. I also started using Mio flavors too! They don't have any aftertaste and less chemicals! Good luck.

How Do You Do When You Are On Vacation?

I love Vegas! We do the same thing. Next time you go to a buffet, ask for a kids price. I love buffets now because I can pick all of the grilled stuff. I just ask to see the manager, tell them I had WLS and I usually get the kids price or senior price. The restaurants I frequent here all know me now and also let me order off the kids menu. Granted, not all kids menus are healthy, but some are getting really good now. I also ask to see a nutrition menu or order a la cart! I eat out way too much! -
Find things you enjoy! I eat a lot of fish and homemade chicken salad. If you are still on soft food, anything you like can be put in the blender to at least give you a different flavor. I also ate a lot of yogurt and cottage cheese at first. Now I pretty much eat whatever I want (healthy) in a very small amount. If I eat bread, it is multigrain round flat bread and only half of it. If I am having heavy meat (prime rib or filet) I even sometimes have a bite of mashed potatoes or sweet potatoe with my veggies. It is amazing how your taste buds change along with your habits as time goes by. I log everything and still only eat two meals a day (typically) and about 550 calories. I think every NUT has different suggestions. I am down 122 lbs, still see the dr every 3 months and have 25 pounds to go. She also says you have to be satisfied. Good luck everyone. I have had an incredible journey so far and it has been with the help of all of these veterans.

As soon as you are on regular food, you can make pizza. I now use turkey sausage also!

Was so proud of myself tonight! I don't cook often, but I made the best pizza tonight. One half of an Arnold's Flat Round multigrain bread 6 slices turkey pepperoni 1.5 TB Ragu pizza sauce Pinch of garlic Pinch of onion Pinch of Mrs Dash Italian Seasoning 2 TB FF Crumbled Feta cheese 2 TB freshly grated parmesan cheese 2 TB shredded cheddar cheese (next time another LF or FF cheese) Toast the flat bread first, then add pizza sauce, seasons, cheese and pepperoni. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. It is fabulous! Next time I may add crumbled turkey sausage. Each little pizza is 204 calories, 20 grams of Protein, 15 carbs, 11 grams of fat (could be less with different cheese). I thought I wouldn't be eating pizza anymore. I know I will now! My husband actually enjoyed it too.

Today is a new day. Get back on track so that you heal properly and make good progress. Find things you can eat and enjoy them and stick to it! -
Sometimes I have to use a little homemade tartar sauce if it gets too dry. A little lite Miracle Whip, SF pickle relish and onion salt. Try mashing it with your fork before you eat it.

Those In The Green Zone... Do You Eat Breakfast?
SueBee01 replied to sylviau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't eat breakfast except for the weekend if I am not able to plan my meals around my hunger. Usually because I amout on the golf course for five hours. Then I have one scrambled egg which holds me over until I have lunch mid afternoon. I do not go without breakfast because I can't, I go without because I am not hungry. If you are not eating because you can't, then you are too tight. You need to find the happy medium. Do not live with it too tight. -
The Centrum chewables are good. I also use the Bariatric Advantage chewable Calcium. You can order them online with free shipping if you have it sent automatically. If the Biotin alone doesn't help, tell your surgeon. Mine put me on a Vitamin regimen and it is working. I tried the Nioxin shampoo, but it just dried out my hair so I am back on Suave which I have used for 10 years.

Congratulations for getting back on track! Regarding the question on regain, The band does not keep you from eating the wrong things, like slider foods (ice cream, chips, etc.). We all have to figure out how we got to where we are and change those issues. You have to be disciplined and eat the right foods, the right amount and exercise. It is not about just getting a fill. It is abutting eating right, being satisfied with what you are eating and feeling full/satisfied for several hours. Only get a fill if you are eating correctly and not satisfied/full for several hours. And, do not eat until you are full. Eat you prescribed meal and wait 20 minutes to see if you are full/satisfied. You will have to learn how to do that and occupy yourself with something other than eating between meals. You can all do it, just takes lots of practice!

I was bloated for over a month from the gas. I never had the gas pain though. Drink lots of water and walk a lot! The port will be tender until it heals. Now I only feel it if I press on it. For the longest time I could only feel it when I laid down on my back and pressed on it. Now I can feel it anytime I press on it now that I am down over 100 pounds.
-
Hi! Glad you are doing well after surgery. Make sure you are walking a lot. If you had you surgery in August, the gas pain should be gone by now. Remember that it will take the full six weeks to feel really good. Your body needs that healing time. Follow your doctors food and water instructions. Let us know if you have any questions!

Still a problem if you don't stay on top of it. I take 2 stool softeners a day and put a clear dissolving fiber Taget/Walmart/Publix brand in my water every morning. it really helps! If you notice yourself going 3-4 days with no movement, take an over the counter relief, Senocot. All natural and works wonders! You do not want the pain of continued constipation!
