    October Bandsters?

All of you newbies... Follow your doctor's post op diet. Even though you can tolerate food, you should be following your program. Your insides need to heal! Most likely you have nothing or very little in your band until your six week visit. Therefore, when you are feeling good, you can eat anything! This is part of your training, follow the rules and learn to eat small amounts, chew, chew, chew and drink lots after you eat. Eating slow and waiting to drink will help you feel full. Be patient and enjoy what you are eating. Make every bite worth it. It is not a race. Good luck to you all!

    Cereal ????

I agree, I add that to anything I want crunch! Great stuff.
  3. Cup of lite choc soy milk for drive to work (never hungry in am) lunch during week is 1/2 ham or chicken salad with cheese on 1/2 of a flat round bread and SF pickle dinner is usually 2-3 oz of fish or chicken, a veggie and a bite of potato Sometimes I have eggs, cheese and turkey sausage for a lunch meal Snacks include: Cabot sharp cheddar 75% FF cheese with Special K crackers, fruit, nuts, prunes, etc. I too eat out a lot! A la cart chicken taco and dump the shell and add refried Beans or guacamole to it. Always sharing with husband or bringing home leftovers for several meals!

    Gallbladder Surgery

Yes, common. The only way you can avoid it is if you are lucky and don't have any problems. Not everyone does, it is just common because of the change to your system. I am 10 months out and have not had any problems yet. Don't worry about it, just know that it may happen and can be fixed.

    Oh Plz Tell Me.....

Try changing your exercise. Do something for a couple days besides walking. Keep it up though, you are doing the right things!
  6. Way to work your band! Make bite count and you did. It is your time to be as picky as you want!

    Need A Pick Me Up...

This happened to me too! Remember, loss will be slow with the band. Also, don't think you need a fill just because the scale is stuck. A fill is about feeling full. So if the feeling full is working, try changing what you are eating. Are you tracking your food? Also are you tracking your exercise? Try changing up your exercise also. I expend as many calories as I eat each day (close). Do you feel like your clothes fit better? You will also notice your clothes being bigger before the scale moves too. You are also gaining muscle which weighs more then fat. Keep trying, it will work!

    No Appetite .. Normal?

Agree, don't force yourself to eat. Drink as much as you can and only eat when hungry. Your body is in a healing stage now so liquids are good. You will want food soon enough! Be thankful. I have been one of the lucky ones too. I still do not get hungry. I eat 2 times a day and drink all day now, still. Remember, everyone is different.

    Having Trouble After Fill...

You shouldn't be eating that soon after getting a fill. Did your doctor tell you to do liquids for a couple days and then mushies? Your stomach has to adjust to the fill and it usually causes swelling. Go back to liquids and if that doesn't help get a little unfilled. I have maybe had two bites of pasta in over 10 months! Way too filling.
  10. Agree. I am surprised that you weren't on liquids for a couple days right after a fill, then mushies for a couple days. Try some hot tea. You definitely don't want to sat too tight! Hope you feel better soon.

    Cereal ????

I add a little hi fiber hi protein cereal to my yogurt. I don't like Greek yogurt, I eat Fiber One lite peach. Only 50 calories and great with a little crunchy cereal in it.

    Breakfast

Multigrain breads do have nutritional value. They just fill you up. Eat everything else first and end with a couple bites of a multigrain bread. DO NOT eat bread first, it will take up all the space in your stomach! I eat half a piece of bread in my sandwich. My NUT says kneed whole grains.

    Good on you!

    Newby

Dana, get up and walk as often as you can and that will help get rid of the gas issue. Drink as much water as you can. Are you on protein drinks yet?

    Hello From The New Guy

I am fed BCBS also. If you have "standard" it is 15%. depending on what your doctor ordered for prep tests and the cost of surgery will make a difference. I paid about $2500 when all said and done. The hospital and surgeon let me make payments. I have only had one fill and it was covered by my surgeon with the first 90 days. The time will fly by! Are you going thru the mandatory classes? If so, you will learn a lot. Hang in there!

    Tap Tap....is This Thing On?

Every insurance is different. I have fed BCBS and after I got everything done, it took 48 hours for approval. Keep in contact with your doctor's office just to make sure they are on top of it!
  17. Agree. Your body is undergoing a lot of change. Let it heal and just keep doing what you are supposed to do. It will work. I stalled at 4 months out, gained a couple pounds and then headed in the right direction again. I was eating 750 cal a day then, now I am at 550 cal a day. It is diff for everyone. Talk to your NUT all the time!
  18. My NUT also says no liquid Protein. Since I started listening to her, I am losing at a higher rate. food only and she is not as worried about me getting all that protein in as she is about me only eating when hungry. That was a really hard transition to make. But I did it and it is working great. I don't worry about it anymore. Just eat healthy when I eat (2x a day), get my Water in and exercise. Work closely with your NUT. What works for one does not work for all. Good luck everyone, stick to your plan!

    Its Done!!

Congrats to all of you! Follow your post op diet the best u can because now your body needs to heal. Rest, walk in small amounts as often as u can, sip, sip, sip as much as u can all day. You may feel bloated for a couple weeks and a little more sore if u had hernia repair. Don't worry about losing weight now. You are healing, but it will come off!

    October Bandsters?

Journey girl, yes, u need to add fiber to your diet now. U do not ever want to go thru the whole constipated thing. I take 2 stool softeners a day and add unflavored fiber to my water (Walmart brand works fine).

    October Bandsters?

Linda, keep drinking! Just make sure u drink what your doc is telling u to drink. It will keep you hydrated and help to make u feel full. Keep up the great work!
  23. Sounds like you are doing good! I have heard others say that we may not be eating enough. That's why I say get with your NUT. Keep up the good work and hopefully it will all catch up.
  24. Am so excited! I was very nervous two weeks ago when I headed out on a two week cruise. I am a cruisaholic and always enjoyed the food! One of the main reasons I had WLS was because my husband and I love to cruise, but it was getting to a point where we were not enjoying it as much because all we were doing was eating because I was not able to get around and enjoy the locations we went to. This time, I was able to getoff the ship and do some touring. I worked out twice a day! We even went to the gym onboard the ship together! We upgraded to a new program on the ship that had us eating in a healthy restaurant every night. It was actually fantastic. I even had a taste or two of desert each day. Because I am a scale freak also, I weighed myself each day in the fitness center. By the time I left the ship I thought I was down 1.5 pounds. I arrived home on Saturday, my normal "real" weigh in day is Monday. When I hoped on the scale Monday morning, I was down 7 pounds from my last weigh in the day we left on vacation! So I am ecstatic! I enjoyed great food, kept a daily journal of my food and exercise, worked out twice a day and lost 7 pounds! Yes, you can enjoy life working your band!

How Do You Do When You Are On Vacation?

Exactly, we do not have to follow others! Way to go!
