Dana, I am with you. I love eating out, ordering what I like and telling them how to make it! Always more satisfied eating what you like! I used to love Duncan Donuts several times a week now I may have one donut hole once in a while.

Do not eat if you are not hungry and do not eat just to eat or meet calories. The goal of the lap band is to make you feel full longer on less food. Do not drink you calories/protein just to get it in. Some people keep getting fills and are drinking their protein. You have to eat solid proteins or you will never know how your band really feels or is working for you. Sliders go thru no matter what and then you just wasted what you could have really eaten, tasted and enjoyed. If you are off the liquid stage then get used to real food, you will have to for the rest of your life. It is pretty easy once you make the change. I do not drink any protein drinks anymore and eat two meals a day.

October 2012 Bandsters

That is great! -
The first fill is the only fill I have ever had because I still do not get hungry. I eat my cup of food and chew the best I can. I was worried like you and that has helped me to chew well because I do not ever want to have a stuck episode.

Warm Tea With Splenda!
SueBee01 replied to vanessa1215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to watch the caffeine all the time. It dehydrates you so you have to drink extra water if you drink any type of caffeine. That is why I stay away from caffeine all together. I only drink decaf tea. -
You can add me too, brinksm.

It is normal to not lose while you are eating. Also, if you are taking in 1200 cal a day and not exercising, you may not lose either. Talk to your NUT about calorie intake. I was so focused on that at first and she kepttelling me to quit that because I was eating just to get the protein and calories in. Once I quit that and only ate when hungry, not head hungry, the weight really started to fall off. I still eat two meals (3 oz protein and 1/2 c veggies/god carb) nd a snack each day for about 500-600 calories and I exercise at least n hour a day. You have to work with you NUT because all of us lose differently. They will help to find what works best for you. I have had one fill, over 10 months out and down 131 pounds.

Cleared For Soft Foods
SueBee01 replied to weeze88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are on soft foods, grind up meat and add a little mayo, mustard or broth to moisten it. You will love it! Scrambled eggs, bake some fish and mash it with your fork, retried beans, cottage cheese, creamed soups or put any soup or chili in a blender. I would stay away from the donut holes, hi in carbs and easy to get stuck if you had a fill already, plus you are still healing from the inside out. I would not eat any bread right now, let alone white bread! Set your mind to...you are eating so little so eat what counts and what you enjoy. Make it worth eating! -
Think of Thanksgiving dinner no differently then any other dinner. Pick and chose wisely and you will be fine! It is about being with family, not eating. Changing your mindset on things really helps.

Warm Tea With Splenda!
SueBee01 replied to vanessa1215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try adding a little sf creamer to your hot tea! It is awesome. Filling and no calories. I use decaf Earl Grey. -
Liz,you will most likely be on liquids a day or to and mushies a day or two after your fill. You should be able to put any kind of soup you like in a blender and strain it for your liquids! Mushies you can blend any neat and add a little broth or mayo to moisten is, scrambled eggs, or fish that you can mash with a fork. Plan your meal out if you are eating for the holidays with your family so that you can eat right with them. It won't be the first holiday you will be eating different then everyone else. It will work out. Just remember that it is about being with everyone and not necessarily the food that we eat anymore! You will be fine!

Why Is Mfp Not A Good Tool For Some Ppl?
SueBee01 replied to vmarlau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember, those studies are on a normal body, we are not normal anymore. Eat calories based on your NUT's guidelines. I have been eating under 700 for over six months. No problems here and still losing. Discuss you meal plan with your NUT. -
Banded 11/12/12, In Recovery!
SueBee01 replied to SuzyMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to all of you. Drink a little at a time, often! Walk small amounts, as often as you can! Follow your doctor's post op diet! Drink to stay hydrated and walk to keep the gas pain down. Don't worry about weight loss for the first month as your body is healing. It will be slow, but steady if you stay on track. Everyone has a little different program and everyone loses at a different rate so don't compare yourself to others. Listen to your dr and NUT and ask a lot of questions! -

Experiencing My 1St "stuck" Episode
SueBee01 replied to mandi0813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are on real foods and can't eat solid food for breakfast, you need to rethink where you are with fills. I had pot roast and carrots this morning! You will never be satisfied drinking breakfast in the long run. Talk to your NUT about the foods you are eating so you can be eating things long term. -
What Are Your Favorite Foods?
SueBee01 replied to Domika03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another Florida girl here! I love Grouper and Mahi, hate tuna and salmon! I love that I can go out to eat anywhere and find good fish and shrimp! Went to our outdoor pool today, they started heating it for the winter. The sun was out and it is a beautiful 75 degrees! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. -

What Are Your Favorite Foods?
SueBee01 replied to Domika03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love seafood too. chicken, black Beans and brown rice all mixed together! I still eat tacos too, now I just throw the shell away and make it chicken. If you can't change it up, don't go there. Just avoid it for a while. I found that in the beginning or even now if I go to a new restaurant I ask for a nutritional menu. Once you read through it, you will really change your selections! It is eye opening. I now special order almost everything I eat out. You can make it better for you and still enjoy it! You can do it! -
Hoping To Get Back On Track.....
SueBee01 replied to nomorejellybelly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you are wrong to keep getting fills if you are eating baby food and still drinking Protein drinks. You will never be at the right place with regards to fills if you are not eating real food ALL the time. You cannot live your entire life eating mushies and Protein Drinks. If you do not think you are getting enough protein in, talk to your NUT. At three months, they had me off all liquid Protein. I don't count protein anymore. Just follow the rule of only eating when hungry and when you do eat, it is 3 oz protein, 1/4 c veg and 1/4 c good carb. Most days it is under 600 calories. Don't worry so much about getting all these fills, learn how to eat real food. You have a lifetime ahead of you and you need to learn how to put real fuel in your system without getting stuck, throwing up or only being able to drink. I am shocked to hear that people think it is ok for these things to be "normal."
