January 2013 Bandsters Unite
SueBee01 replied to Onamissionn2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How exciting! I so remember that feeling too. Excited, nervous and a little scared. You will do great and enjoy the new adventure. -
Sunny, you will get there! I thought the same thing. Once you realize how much it really helps to not drink while you are eating and 1/2 hour afterward you it will become easier. Before we drank to help "wash everything down." now we want everything to stay there as long as possible to keep that satisfied/full feeling as long as possible. Keep a drink with you throughout the day whenever you are not eating and you will be able to get all of your fluids in! Good luck!

Sooo I'm finally seeking help with my weight issues
SueBee01 replied to PrettyGirlJey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with the pre op diet as for me it was all about learning how we will change our way of thinking, meeting others who are going through the same thing and learning how to eat right. I had to attend a group session every other week for three months. It was great. It is a big change for you so use this time to get your mind ready and start to make small changes now. I cut out all soda and sweet tea during this time and also then added white bread to that list, Pasta, etc. Then after surgery at about the four month mark, I added bread back in but good breads. You will find what works for you as you go through this process. Your NUT will become the best help and motivation! Glad you have joined our group, we are all just a bunch of losers! -

Your family will eventually come around. They will see how it changes you and they will come on board. It took my mom a couple months post op. She still asks if I got enough to eat!

Awesome, thanks for sharing! -
I have my one year post op appt on Tuesday, although my anniversary is 1/30. Excited to see what comes next! I have been doing my labs every three months thru my PCP. Always good except for some reason my Vit A stays low? The cruise was fun. Went to Honduras and Cozumel. Only 5 days this time. Went on Celebrity Constellation. We have been enjoying Celebrity, the food is awesome! Haven't found a gym on a ship that I don't like yet! I work out twice a day while sailing, first in the pool then the gym in the afternoon. I maintained this trip and have been losing again since I got home. Down to 185.5 now. Would love to be at 180 by 1/30. It has been a long trip from my start of 330. We will see. Planning my next cruise for 2014. Headed to Europe - the first time there! Can't wait! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I have a Lands End blue rain coat, knee length with a hood. Brand new. Color is blue. -
Agree with Missy. You don't need to add more stress.

Welcome newbies! I did not have much shoulder pain at all, but I did continue to take the pain meds at least at night for the first five days. You need to get as much sleep as you can at night to help your body heal. I walked every 1/2 hour four five minutes. Just around the house. It really helps to get rid of the gas. Drink, drink, drink! Follow your surgeons instructions as they are all different. Don't worry about losing weight the first several weeks. You may feel sore, tired and bloated for the first month. Then I felt great again and started to do more intense exercise after week six. I have not had any problems. It will be one year for me 1/30/13 and it was the best thing I ever did for myself! I thought I was always happy, but now I am really happy! This is a great place to learn and talk to people! Best to you all.

Ok here we go! Are you crazy? You just had major surgery! Your dr put you on a special diet for a reason. Your insides need to heal and that will take six weeks! I was scared to death to hurt my band, my stomach, etc. I am nearly one year out and still scared to death. You chose to have this surgery for a reason. Don't loose site of that! We are here to help you but you also need to take what you just did to your body seriously. Ok, start over! Get back to what you are supposed to do to let your body heal. There will be plenty of time to eat enjoyable food once your body heals!

Welcome back Nicki! Glad you are back.

Significant loss with no fills
SueBee01 replied to Rn925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have gone with no fill, but my surgeon wanted me to have one because he said that your stomach changes as you lose weight and I had so much to lose he didn't want any problems. I had one initial fill of 3cc and have not had another since and I will be banded one year the end of this month. I have lost 143 pounds so far. I am never hungry, have never had any stuck episodes. I chew chew chew and avoid white bread, pasta, rice, etc. I do eat multigrain breads, but only a half slice a couple times a week. LOVE my band! -
Tummy tuck and breast left on Tuesday 12/18

Glad you are still doing well. How exciting! -
Congrats on your one year anniversary! Headed out on a one week cruise tomorrow. Wish me luck! Still need to lose 7 more pounds by 1/30/13 to hit my personal goal of 180. That would put me down 150 pounds. I will have to work extra hard on the cruise. My goal is to exercise twice a day! The dr wants me at 160, I will have to work on that afterward.

One Year Band Anniversary Today!
SueBee01 replied to ccsbulldog's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! Glad you are doing well, keep up the great work. Must have been hard getting banded during the holidays! That is major success in itself! -
How does the EcoDrink taste? I just ordered the new Centrum Burst Chewables. I am anxious to see how they taste. I have been taking the regulat Centrum Chewables and they are OK.

Nicole, hope you are feeling better! Sample day for me. S: mid morning is 4 almonds and 4 banana chips L: half a sandwich using a flat round multigrain (50 calories) with brown mustard 1 slice of turkey, ham, turkey pastrami with 1/2 slice of cheese and a SF sandwich stacker pickle and a couple veggie chips. D: chicken, fish, or any meat (2-3 ounces) and veggies sometimes a bite or two of any kind of potato. S: 1-2 bites of SF ice cream or 1/4 cup of Kashi Heart to Heart dry cereal (I like the crunch). I eat sweet potato fries or potato but very little. I finally went down 2 pounds today after a whole month, but I ave been enjoying cookies and Chex mix all month! I count it all. I had one day of 900 calories and I was so stuffed I couldn't stand myself! It is funny how as soon as my band was placed, my mind told myself I wasn't hungry anymore. I am very lucky that way. I do agree that the sugar really does make you want more!
