    Another surgery

I know everyone is different, but I eat 600 calories a day and burn about 500-700. I have lost 145 pounds in a year. I could not fit 1000-1200 calories in me unless it was Protein drinks or soft foods. I work really close with my NUT and meet with her every 90 days. Are you hungry or eating to get the calories in? At first I ate to follow a plan and get the calories In. My NUT said STOP it and only eat when hungry and eat smart (dense protein first, veggies and small good carb). It took me six months to change my brain, but it worked!

I waited until I lost 120 pounds and still no relief so I just had my first shot in Dec and don't plan on continuing the shots. Now that I am pain free from the shot, I am ready for the surgery! I want to get on with my life and start living it. I can't on cortisone. I hope you find relief. This is the first time I have been pain free in three years.

    Help with exercise please!

Anything in the pool. I did that for my first 10 months as I need hip replacement.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks for bringing this group to our attention! Didn't know it was here. I am 52 was banded a year ago. Happier then ever and smaller then I was in high school who would have ever thought after reaching 330! MJC, I would suggest logging you food on MyFitnessPal so you can really see what you are eating. It shocked me when I started! I hated exercise too. I do it every day now. It doesn't have to be strenuous, just something. I usually sit on my sofa, on my iPad, watching TV and pedal away on a little pedal machine. I started at 10 minutes last year and now go up to 90 minutes. Just find something to burn calories. Once you do and the weight starts coming off you will feel so much better.

Try logging everything to see if you are burning more calories then you are eating. Remember, if you are starting to work out again you are going to gain muscle first. Another adjustment your body will go through. Try logging in to MyFitnessPal if you haven't already.

    Why Sugar Free?

I agree. Your taste buds are really going to change. Keep in mind it is calories and calories out to lose. I like choc milk too, but don't crave it as much now. I did the choc Protein drinks for a couple months. When I went off the Protein Drinks I did try Silk Lite Choc milk and I love it. Half the calories and more protein. It lasts in the frig forever and I just have a juice cup full when I want it! Cut out the excess calories where you can. It will make a big difference. The one other thing I really believe in is that you also have to be satisfied!

    Sad but hopeful

I would be happy with 2 in December. That was a hard month for me. I didn't lose anything. Hang in there! The holidays are over and we an get back to our normal ways and watch the scale head south!

Well I had my one year post op visit today even though my anniv isn't til 1/30. Dr was very thrilled, as was I! He said I have lost 87% of my initial excess weight and he said after losing 145 pounds he was good and when I am happy he will be happy too. So if I don't go down to his original goal of 160 he is ok. I am at 185 and told him I would be happy with 10-15 more. He ran out of the office and came back with the plastic surgeon! Told the PS that he had done what he needed to do and that it was his turn! So I got my plastics consult done right then. What a surprise. Both surgeons were pleased and said I could proceed with plastics whenever I was ready. That was a thrilling visit. Now everything is in my court. I am hoping to get my hip replaced first, if not then I will be looking at a boob lift and my arms to start. Dying to get a bra that fits! More to come in the next couple months. Hope you all had a good day!

    Gas after eating

The other thing is that we have to learn to eat slower and smaller bits. Also when drinking, smaller sips. It is hard to learn and you will get lots of air in you while you are trying to accomplish this. I also burped a lot! It does get better, but I am nearly a year out and it hasn't gone away totally!

    Weaning of caffeine

I thought the same thing. After being banded I didn't miss them at all. My taste buds have changed so much that I can't stand the taste anymore (when I try a sip of husbands!) it is amazing how things change. I went totally off caffeine at preop, but now a year out I DI drink decaf tea and if I have to I have regular. Not often though because I don't want to have to put more water in to compensate for it!

Nicole, try making some SF chocolate pudding into pie and add a little SF cool whip. It is great too and you can eat it!

They will come back into your diet soon, just not now.

    Flat Breadt?

I love that idea too. I think I will try chicken with spinach and tomato!

When I had that problem I added a little salt to my cottage cheese.

    Flat Breadt?

Bread is really tough at first. I make pizza but use the Arnold flat rounds, the multigrain or wheat. They are 50 calories for half. I toast it first, then put everything on it and bake it at 350 for 16 minutes. I use FF feta, grated parmesan, and turkey sausage crumbles and turkey pepperoni. My husbands loves it too! Your kids will love helping you make them!
  16. Stay strong and work with them. I think cash pays are usually less then ins so make sure you check with them again. Good luck.
  17. You look great! Your pre photo looks like I do now. I can't wait to do the same! Keep us posted.

    My Band

Thank you for sharing your story. I am always thankful to learn more, but I am truly sorry for what you have gone threw. You are a very strong person! I hope everything gets better for you.
  21. I have some nice size 16 and XL tops and pants if anyone is in need of them. I consider the 16s a little large as I am still wearing some, but these are falling off so if you are just getting out of 18s they would be perfect. All are in great condition too. I have not even wore some of them!

    anyone have bcbs federal????

Me too, if you don't meet the BMI then you have to have two co-morbidities (pre diabetic, high chol, high blood press, etc.) the thrr month supv diet was great as it was mostly learning about what we were about to go through. The time flew by. I am in N FL. One year post op on 1/30.

    I am starving!

You have received great advice here. Drink as much as you can all the time. It will keep you full. Try flavoring your water with different flavors to change things up. I use crystal light or Mio. Also you can add unflavored powder protein to you drinks. I would also start adding unflavored fiber powder to your drinks as you are not getting any fiber. When you start on mushies you may get constipated and you definitely don't want that! Hang in there it does get better. The head hunger takes several weeks if not months to deal with and to find things to distract you from wanting to feed that type hunger.
