    Protein shakes?????

Syntrax nectar unflavored protein powder can be mixed with anything. It has no flavor and I used it in my flavored water. That should help those that don't like milk based drinks!
  2. Well said B-52. No strenuous exercise for first six weeks. Then you should be good to go on anything unless you have other issues. Check with your doctor. I still felt tired for the first two months. Take it slow and work your way up.
  3. I think that is above average. I was told 1-2 pounds a week. Everyone is different. The last two months have been very slow for me. I am 8 pounds from goal.
  4. I agree eat a little of what you want, beats a bowl of croutons. Remember, it is also about being satisfied. At dance class last night my friends ordered nachos and brocolli cheddar bites. I opted for two brocolli cheddar bites and a 1/4 of a club sandwich for my dinner. I just make sure I count everything!

The world of solid food is scary...

Don't base your need for a fill on your food choices. You need to base it on how long you stay satisfied eating dense protein. That will help keep the chips way. You need to eat the right foods to see where you are. Otherwise you will be too tight and screwed.

    Laying on my stomach

I went back to my massage therapist after two weeks. She had me lay on my side until six weeks out. She treats us the sane as pregnant women.

    Pre-Surgery "LIST"

My only regret was waiting so long to do it! Also, never say never. After losing a lot now I have learned to listen to my NUT and do eat great food still, just more cautious and a he'll of a lot less. I would have a filet now, but only 2-3 ounces instead of 8! Hopefully you will make changes and enjoy food again, just differently. Good luck. It is exciting!

    Help with exercise please!

I don't usually swim when I am at the pool. I walk forward, backward and sideways for five minutes each as a warm up. Then I do leg and arm lifts and pulls for 10 minutes. Then I do cardio for 25 minutes that includes jogging in place, scissor kicks (forward and backward), and jumping jacks. I do a minute of each and continue the routine for the 25 minutes. Then I hang on the side of the pool and do the bicycle straight, to the left and to the right slow for one minute slow then fast for one minute and rotate through these two times. The still hanging on to the side I do leg lifts (30 of them). Then I go to the shallow end and do 30 square. For warm up and cool down I do a little stretching in the pool. Hug yourself, the pull each arm separately across your chest to stretch shoulder, stand on toes then heels 20 times, lift your leg straight in front of you and hold to 20. Repeat this when you are done too. You do not have to swim to exercise in the pool! Good luck. I did this routine 3-5 days a week the first 10 months and lost 135 pounds.

Nicki, I am not a big cottage cheese fan either. Get the small curd. When you mix this other stuff in it you don't even know it is cottage cheese! More like thick pudding or custard.
  12. Everyone is different. Work with tour NUT to do what is good for you. My NUT says no liquid protein. If I am not hungry in the morning, I take my meds with water and drink a half a cup of lite Silk choc soy milk or a small can of V-8. Some days it is a piece of celery with peanut butter. It is funny that breakfast used to be my favorite meal before WLS, now not so much. I rarely have breakfast! You have to find what works for you.

Terry, I say move on. You always do awesome. I have had a couple of moments like that too, but always counted them and then reflect and understand where it came from! I sometimes think the triggers will never totally go away.

Kymie, hope you get it fixed soon. You certainly don't want to get dehydrated too. Best to you!

Nick, I have a dessert idea for you. Take a container of cottage cheese, add a package of SF jello and SF fruit (drained). Mix it all together and put it in the fridge for a couple hours. It will thicken. Eat it when you need some dessert! Only a half cup at a time!

    Is there a problem here?

When I had exercise restrictions, I went on YouTube and searched chair yoga. You can do it sitting! Great stretching and gets you doing something. I am glad that you are taking steps to make necessary changes.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks B-52. It has been over a week now and it was hard to not log, but I have lost 1.5 pounds this week so I will continue to try it this way! As long as it works and I don't need to hold myself accountable, I will try living life like a normal person!

    Help with exercise please!

I also have a set of pedals that I can sit on the sofa and ride forever. I am waiting on hip replacement. Could not walk for two years. I started doing 10 minutes at a time, now I do 1 to 1 1/2 hours every day. Find what doesn't hurt so you can burn calories. I also use bands to do some light strengthening.

Nick, I think committing to the no ice cream for Feb is a great goal. I did the same for the first six months. I stayed away from all my triggers. I was able to get over them and now I can handle the treat in very small amounts. I hope this works for you. Be strong, find other distractions and healthy substitutes. You can do it!

    Two Questions.....

This was my third surgery. The hysterectomy was more painful. I took pain meds at night for the first five days to sleep well. More pain from the hiatal hernia repair. No gas pain. I did walk once an hour the first week.

I like ice cream too, but have been able to cut it down to two bites when I have it. Go to SperWalmart and buy Sweet Freedoms No sugar added. It is awesome. Creamy like real ice cream. That is a great treat. Put a little in a small small bowl and walk away from the kitchen, eat it slow and enjoy it!
