8Th Day Post Op Aargh
Arizonakimc replied to Pheath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello- now I am eight days post op and feel horribly tired. I am very pasty looking. Getting a little afraid I will be tired like this forever. How is everyone doing now? -
Also, you can get a lot of veggies by juicing them. I juiced once and felt so good it was amazing. It was before i got banded though so my hunger got the best of me. I will check out that book. Sounds like how i want to start living.

I woke up and said "I need to walk," over and over. Finally a male nurse told me I need to take it easy for a while because of the anesthesia. That's when I started my leg exercises in the bed. Ha ha. I had read so much about blood clots and the importance of walking that it was drilled into my head.

It would be frustrating to wait so long. I was self pay too but I opted to go to Dr. Almanza in Mexico. I was very scared and many people did not want me going to Mexico, but now that it is done I am so grateful I did it. The experience was good and everything was clean and professional. Maybe reconsider going to Mexico if you want to get done sooner. I hope everything works out for you.

I know eight weeks is two months, but one person said i could have it done at six weeks and one said eight weeks. I would prefee to go at six weeks but the fill center will not do it until eight weeks. I was just trying to find out if that was common. Thank you!

Omg Down 140Lbs In 13 Months!
Arizonakimc replied to Allison0927's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is so inspirational! I just got banded August 18th and cannot wait until I am excited to shop again. I have been wearing the same pair of jeans for a long time and I online order now because I hate shopping and my size is not usually in stores. After reading this I remembered there was a time I liked shopping for clothes.. When I was thinner! Thank you for sharing and I cannot wait to be where you are. So far the liquid diet has been difficult but I am staying strong. -
I was banded august 18th and still feel exhausted. Drinking plenty of protein and not taking pain meds. Is this normal?

What is everyone's understanding of coffee after surgery? I would like to have an espresso with a touch if skim milk, but not if it will cause issues. I am five days post op. Thank you!
-
It's okay! Stick with it. Today is my day five and I think i just had my first stomach hunger since surgery and it is frustrating. The liquids are tough. Hey- it could have been worse. You just had mashed up avocado, not a cookie or anything, so don't beat yourself up!

Any other banders in 20's-30's in Az
Arizonakimc replied to flirtyangel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Looks like this thread goes back to 2008... now that you have all had the band a while, how are you doing? -
Dont forget me! I was august 18th!!!
-
Thanks everyone! I will keep all this in mind. Maybe waiting a couple months until I heal completely would be best so I do not aggravate it. To be honest, I still have not been hungry but I have been daydreaming about my usual americano before work. I will give it a while but it makes me feel better knowing that even if I cut a lot of junk out of my diet, I can keep my morning coffee. And I love iced coffee too!

What Do You Do When Your Band Is Full?
Arizonakimc replied to Arizonakimc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My understanding from what I saw was that it is an unlock feature in case it slips, it can be unlocked and locked again in the proper position. It looks like the older ones are more difficult to reposition if they slip. I googled lapband unlock. It brought me to some places where it was discussed and the allergen information sheet that shows how to unlock it if slipped. Clearly for a surgeon and not us. Ha ha! -
Hi all- i am new here and was reading threads and started to wonder what people do once their band is full. I have an empty 4cc band, so it takes less to fill, and I started worrying if I eventually fill it up, what will I do? Sorry if this is a dumb question! Naturally, I am worrying about something far off in the future.

Slojo- some tips. Bring a book or laptop to the clinic. I was last on the surgery list so I sat in the waiting room for a long time. They gave you a wifi code and I regretted not having my laptop. Another thing... all of us patients were so tired and we were just waiting, so we finally asked them if we could sleep in one of the rooms. They were really nice and told us yes. (It was after everyone had their IV) so those of us waiting got to sleep until our surgery, or until they needed the bed for someone coming from surgery. Sleeping made time pass so much quicker. they do surgeries with the lowest BMI and least complicated first, then down the line to more complicated. I was getting band over bypass and my first surgery was done open chest, so that is why I was last. It was a fun experience and I loved their family atmosphere. I have to say I actually liked the experience better than what I had in the states.

What Do You Do When Your Band Is Full?
Arizonakimc replied to Arizonakimc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for the reply. Yes, I was banded in Mexico on August 18th. I started reading and realized other people's bands are much bigger than mine. Hopefully the quicker restriction is the only difference. I also read that my band does not have the unlock feature. It makes me feel better that it is not usual for a complete fill. thank you! -
I am getting surgery tomorrow and have been on pre op diet for three days. I am already beginning to feel sad about not having my comfort foods. It has been a struggle and I know many people with bands can probably relate. What did everyone do to get through the emotions that come with not being able to eat so much? I am excited and scared to change my lifestyle. Thank you!

Post Surgery But No Weight Loss
Arizonakimc posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. I was banded saturday and I am swollen but feeling discouraged over the scale's refusal to move. Still on liquids only. Did anyone else experience no weight loss directly after surgery? I am hoping I am retaining water. I just feel miserable and it would sure be nice to have some weight loss. My stomach is sticking way out! -

Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement and support. I am going to stop weighing myself daily and stick with weekly. I will focus on healing for a while. -
I was on the 18th! Sticking to clear liquids. I tried a protein drink and got horrible gas. What is everyone else drinking?
