I'm so impressed by everyone's positive experiences! Sounds like you're doing fine!
My daughter started making a dip for apple slices that's really good, and lo-cal too!
Ingredients: vanilla yogurt (lo cal, or plain yogurt with vanilla and Splenda)
    peanut butter
Splenda brown sugar - just a bit for flavor
We make it in big servings and keep on hand, but for one apple, use about 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 tbsp. of peanut butter, and 1 or 2 tsp. brown sugar. Mix well and enjoy.

My doc told me the same thing last time I went. I was like seriously someone is telling me I need to eat more - WTH? My NUT said apple slices with PB is great. I buy the low sodium PB to help with salt intake. In the summer I like cantalope with laughing cow cream cheese wedge. I love applesauce and make my own so I can control what is in there.
Something the hubs and I love is zucchini chips. I slice the zucchini is thin slices (with my mandalin), toss in a little olive oil, and parm cheese - place on a cookie sheet and back till golden. These are addictive. The hubs who is anti veggie loves these. This also works to coat asparagas and string beans as a different way to fix them.

Sorry lap band did not work for you but you made a very valid statement, with or without WLS the key to losing weight is healthy eating, in moderation and exercise. This same philosophy goes for us that had WLS and it has worked. My key to losing has not been my band it is my added insurance or safety net, what I have learned in two years in portion control and if you exercise and burn more than you take in you lose weight. Yes my band has helped me but without out totally changing my views on nutrition I would have never been successful. I wish you luck in your weight lose journey applying the principles you have identified.

Have you thought about selling your clothes on ebay? I am making good money getting rid of my good clothes. Why donate them when you can sell them and make some cash to go buy some nice clothes. It's worth looking in to.

We just had Hospice over their house & we had to talk about some very uncomfortable things; such as when dad can't take care of himself. Who will?
Fortunately, our Hospice team is wonderful. I just can't say enough about the nurses. They're going to arrange it so that dad has nurses check in on him twice a week AND have ...oh, what did they call them, like a nurses aid or something, stop by twice a week (for now) so that they can cook, do laundry, help him with baths, etc... I told them, I can help with that too. But they said, we know you can, but wouldn't it be nice to have help? Gosh, I almost cried, just because of the over-whelming feeling I had inside. Oh, I kept it together. Can't let mom & dad know that I'm stressed out. That doesn't help.
It's a struggle for sure. Your parents are the most amazing people & to see them go down hill is just heart-breaking. You want to do what's right & be there, just like you do for your kids. I swear life is a full circle! I do need to take care of myself, because I need to be there for them. I know the next few months, or year, will be quite challenging.
Heck, I just made myself a protein drink with ... Pure Protein (30 grms), 2 scoops of protein powder (15 grms), 1 scoop flaxseed, cinnamon, greek yogurt (12 grms), and a banana. Quite tasty actually. Of course, I can't drink the whole thing at once, but that gives like 57 grms of protein for the day right there!
Thanks for listening & commenting guys. It means a lot to have some feedback... xoxoxo

Where there is a Will... there is a way!!!
I just did quite a bit of searching on MFP for several food options. First of all, I need to remember that I'll never be able to eat a full serving offered by either of these restaurants. My guess is that I might be able to eat 1/4 of the meal, perhaps slightly more.
I printed & emailed myself a bunch of food options I might consider so I can make a better educated choice. I found a "skinny" menu option for Maggiano's, which makes me giggle a little bit. The Cheesecake Factory, on the other hand, will present a bit more of a challenge. However, I decided that if I split that yummy cheesecake into 3 servings, I can satisfy my craving & not over do it.
I expect during the 5 days of my business meeting that I will run into a few challenges. After doing a little homework, I feel better about myself.
I have choices & I plan on making the best possible ones with the options I'm given!
    Bring it on.

I agree with Floridays in that most people aren't malicious. I think they just blurt things out without thinking things through. No, it doesn't make it right, or any easier for you & your wife.
I appreciate the reminder about being sensitive to some personal questions that, quite frankly, aren't anyone's business.
    Wishing you the best!

    Hi,
Call the restaurant tomorrow and ask for help. Meatballs is a good choice. They were one of my first real meals. A nice tender filet goes down easy.
As for the Cheesecake Factory, you're on your own. I don't eat cheesecake. My thing there was coffee ice cream and Godiva hot fudge. Haven't been since the band. I love their darker bread. That I could the whole loaf. Bread made me fat.
But really call the restaurant. They are there to help customers because without us they would not be open.
    Good luck and happy eating.

If you aren't having trouble with it, I would see no reason to have it removed. I have seen many people on this site that have had it for years. Also, slippage is often due to improper eating habits (overeating) or having the band too tight, and/or throwing up a lot. As long as you don't do that, ideally you won't have problem with it.
Would you take your car to the shop and tell them to replace the tires if they were in good working order?
Have you ever worked with a nutritionist to formulate a plan and evaluate how you are eating and what modifications may be in order. I may start with that before doing anything else. If your doctor isn't concerned, I don't see why you should be. Best wishes to you!!

This is great, but you should also keep track of your food diary on myfitnessplan.com. If you're not already using it, you'll love it. It tracks your caloric, protein, fiber & carb intake.
    Good luck!
