Here's the link to MissionSlimpossible on Facebook. Hope this works Let me know if it doesn't.... thanks!!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/686063544773453/

If anyone is interested, I just created a private support group called Mission Slimpossible on FaceBook. I made it private because not every one has told their friends about their WLS, myself included. The purpose is simply to provide support to pre & post op WLS people, similar to this website, but on FB. Why not just use this website? You could. It's just that some of us are a little more obsessed with FB than we should be (I'm blushing), and access it a lot more than this site (I'm still blushing). No other reason than that really. It's not just for those of us in Denver, so please feel free to share it with others. I hope to also share recipes, something I seem to be a bit crazed about these days. Hope to see you there!!!

5+ Week Stall - Extremely Frustrated HELP!
Domika03 replied to m@ry's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not sure what kinds of Protein Snacks you might be eating, if any, but I heard of someone eating a small bag of sunflower seeds each day, and without realizing it, she was adding an additional 1000 calories to her daily intake. Keep track of your foods, if you're not already. You could be surprised at how something you thought was on the healthier side, is keeping you from losing more weight. Also, I would suggest talking to your NUT. He / she should be able to help you once they know exactly what you're eating. -
1 month out, having some issues
Domika03 replied to Shorty5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm no medical expert but it sounds like you were switched to solids pretty quickly. Were you ever on soft foods? I feel as though your tummy still needs a little more time to heal before taking on solids. Again, I'm not an expert. Maybe go back to soft foods for now; mashed potatoes, oatmeal with SF jelly preserves, Jello, Soups, until you speak to them & get better suggestions. -
struggling trying hit calories
Domika03 replied to psu98nittanylioness's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many calories are they saying you should be having? It comes like you're less than a month out, so I think you're right around where you should be. ? -
I Need Your Help - Motivation and Tips Please!
Domika03 replied to freejinn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to pre-plan your foods AND bring your own Snacks to work. Bring stuff that's high in Protein, lower carbs & fat (deviled eggs, cheese sticks, Protein drinks, Protein Bars...etc..). You can do this. You just need to pre-plan everything the night or week before so you're good to go, and stay on track -
You're doing great! I know we all want the weight off right away. But, remember, the weight didn't come on overnight so you won't be losing it all overnight. Although, you will lose it fairly quickly, all things considered. Sounds like you're getting enough Protein & eating a good amount of calories so you're doing just fine. If you're not already exercising, try a little walking. Between what you're doing, walking "and" drinking your fluids, you'll see that weight fly right off. Good luck!

This is so difficult!
Domika03 replied to aNewTanya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
aNewTanya, you're entitled to feel the way you feel, as do many others! This journey is surely not an easy one. It definitely does take some getting used to. There's NO question about that. It takes a lot of pre-planning & hard work "BUT" I promise it WILL get better. It DOES get easier. As with anything new, it takes some time to get used to. You just have to learn how to live with the new you. I enjoyed reading Katcloudsheppard's post further above. She made me laugh. Hang in there. Maybe talk to your nutritionist or surgeon & ask them to help you. There's nothing wrong with asking for help. AND, there's nothing wrong with posting about it. You're looking for support. That's what most of us here try to offer. It's not easy my friend, but you will be happy with this decision...it just may take a little longer than it does with others. We're all very different! Best of luck! -

Domika03 replied to Simone Sianide Longley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations & good luck! Just check in here whenever looking for tips or ideas by doing a search OR just posting a question. People are pretty good about responding & helping out. -
Thanks Angela, that's great! I have a one on one meeting with Discovery Church next Friday, the 9th, at 11am. It was the earliest we could meet with both our schedules. Hoping it goes well. Will keep everyone posted!

I posted a few months ago about licking the cheese off my Doritos & giving the dogs the actual chips. Yup, I did that!!!

Hi Grassmom (love the name, LOL), I have a phone conference scheduled with the administrator of a church on 144th / close to Huron, tomorrow. I believe she'll want to meet in person so I can tell her about the support group & what its about. The Pastor told me they would even need to run a background check on me, to ensure safety, of course. Fortunately, that's not an issue for me I'll let you know what she says tomorrow, but yes, please reach out to your church as well. It couldn't hurt. Appreciate the help. Talk to you soon, thanks. Fran

Great news my Denver friends. I will be working towards leading / starting a support group in the North Denver area, hopefully within the next 45 - 90 days. Please stay tuned for updates as I work to find us a central location. I live in the Westminster / Broomfield area, and will be looking in the surrounding areas for possible locations. I'm open to suggestions & appreciate any / all positive feedback. Looking forward to meeting you & helping to support one another! Kind Regards Fran

If you're feeling any pain or discomfort, it's always a good idea to just check with your Dr's office, More than likely it's nothing to worry about. Eat slowly & not more or anything different than what they tell you. Remember, we had major stomach surgery & our tummies need time to heal. Calling your Dr will give you more peace of mind! Congrats on having the surgery! You'll do great!!!

Mary Poppins was right-a spoonful of sugar helps the medidine go down ill take stevia
Domika03 replied to marymary1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe mix it in sugar free pudding, whatever your favorite flavor is? Applesauce is good too. Maybe add a little cinnamon for flavor too? Good luck -
Definitely scary, but well worth the journey. Remember, this WLS is a tool and you have complete control on whether it works or not. It does take a little getting used to, but stay focused, ask questions & no doubt you WILL succeed! Best of luck!

Looking for any support groups for North Seattle/ Lynnwood, WA area
Domika03 replied to cryss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there & congrats on making the decision to a healthier lifestyle. I"m not from your area, but if you go to the Community section of this forum (3rd tab from the left on the top menu bar), scroll all the way down to a section called something like Bariatric Local Chapters (new). This is a section where people are trying to start up support groups in their local areas. Play around in there under city & state, and ask some questions. You might something available at the hospital where you're going to have the surgery or another might be popping up. It's a work in progress that the site is working on. Regardless, you'll find people are more than willing to help & give you advice : ) Wishing you the best! Fran -
Wow, been having major munchie cravings at night the last few nights. Not sure where the hell they're coming from, but I'm on day 3 now. Nope, haven't gained any weight "YET." Anyone else run into this issue? It's not like me, as I'm usually pretty positive & on task / more focused/ I don't like it!!! I need to get over this 'phase' and QUICK. Feeling disappointed in myself

How do you feel about eating out after weight loss surgery?
Domika03 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm about 4 months post-sleeve (revision from band). For me, it depends on the restaurant. I definitely check the menu online first to see if there is some sort of lean Protein that I can order. I try to pick 2 things so I'm prepared in case I need a back up plan, LOL . I stay away from breads, rices & pastas as main dishes, and focus on good Proteins. My eating habits are quite different even now with the sleeve than what it was like with the band. But, I will allow myself a bite / nibble of something (yummy dessert) here & there as a treat. -
You should feel good about yourself, and not just because you've lost 60 pounds, but because you're taking steps to stay healthy. Keep up the great work & continue to stay positive. BTW, you look beautiful. Congrats!

I read your post to my husband & we laughed. Some foods just call our name, LOL. I'm not a big chocolate fan (thank god), but I do love Starburst jelly Beans. Or, at least I used to. Oddly enough, I think since my sugar intake is 'much' lower these days, I don't enjoy the 'sugary' flavor as much. I must have had maybe 5 pcs in total. Normally, I'd say that's pretty good, but um, didn't I just say I don't like them as much anymore? So, why did I go past 1? This weight loss journey is quite psychological. Hang in there!

Your body probably thinks its starving itself. Don't panic & stay focused. Keep doing what you're doing & the weight will come off. If your having issues "going," try adding flaxseed to any warm liquid. Mix it really well before adding the liquid. You can also try Smooth Move tea to help. That usually works by the next morning for me. Congrats of getting the surgery. Best of luck, you'll do fine!!!

I hope to see you there!
