Almost the End of the First....

Happy New Year, and good for you for making such great resolutions. This is about you & your goals, not anyone else's. I think you're going to be just fine. Good luck!

    hiccups?

I think you might have eaten too quickly or taken too big of bites & your stomach might be trying to digest everything, but just can't. Therefore, the hiccups. Try eating much slower than what you're used to, and taking reeeeally small bites of food (size of your pinky nail). Good luck

    Fitbit

Hi there, MFP is a great way to track your daily food intake. Their inventory of food is huge, and if people share their food diaries, you can get an idea of some new things to try as well. I've been using faithfully for the last 2 months but started it back in August. Tell me about Fitbit. What do you use that for? Happy new year! Fran
  6. Definitely a GREAT problem to have! Good for you!!!

    Following up on August bandsters

Wow, 69 pounds. That's awesome!!! I'd love to be there. I thought 45 was good. I was banded on Aug 17th. Can I add you as a friend on MFP so I can see what foods you're eating? I could use some good, new ideas!

How do you cook for your family??

Oh gosh, I can't imagine cooking 2 different meals. Kudos to anyone that can do that For the most part, I ten to cook 1 meal. The difference... it's healthier than it used to be. I bake, never fry, and use wine if I'm going to cook something on the stove top, instead of oil. There are some great healthy cooking web sites you can go to where you can find healthy & easy recipies. As for having many questions, ask away. You've got to the right website for help. Good luck at your appointment

    Where is the Port?

Mine is a few inches to the left from my incision. If I push down a little I can usually find it. I also named my port. Her name is LULU... LOL

    Pain/recovery compared to c/section?

I've had 3 c-sections, and lap-band is nothing in comparison. I didn't even take any pain meds. To me, it felt like I had a stomach ache for several days, a little achy, but nothing that a heating pad couldn't handle.

Most unusual food in your tracker..?

Funny you should ask... just today I tracked 1/2 cup yogurt (not a big deal) AND 1/2 a clementine! Yes, 1/2 a clementine, which I might add, had no protein but is yummy!

    When weight stalls

Wow, your timing is impeccable. I've been at the same weight for 2 1/2 weeks. This is unfamiliar territory for me, and has become a bit of a frustration. After reading your post, I'm certainly hitting most things on your checklist: poor sleep, major stress, poor bowel movements, and not enough protein. I'm certainly not ready to throw in the towel, but I appreciate reading what you wrote to keep me in line & focused. Thanks for sharing!!!

    Menu for 12/28/12

This is great, but you should also keep track of your food diary on myfitnessplan.com. If you're not already using it, you'll love it. It tracks your caloric, protein, fiber & carb intake. Good luck!

    Pre Surgery

I didn't really have any pain. I only took a pain pill the following morning because I had one heckuva a headache. Everything else was just achy, like a mild stomach ache. Thankfully, I didn't have any weight gain. Maybe you read about that because people were constipated, something happens often when you're banded. Well, often for me anyway. Remember to walk, walk, walk, use the heating pad, have gas ex on hand & sip your drinks. You'be fine!
  15. I'll be waiting for you ....

  16. I'm not sure what's going on, but lately I've been having trouble drinking water. I mean, of all things. Tomorrow I'll be banded 4 months, and this "issue" has been only coming up the last few days. My chest starts to hurt a little when I take several sips. I don't think I'm drinking any faster than I have been...? My food intake hasn't been doing too well either. I'm not necessarily eating "bad" stuff (hum, those veggie chips can't be "that" good), but I am keeping track of everything. I'm actually not really eating enough overall. I get busy & don't eat. Then, at the end of the day (afternoon), I start to drag a$$ & get really tired. Sometimes even light-headed. Yea, I know guys. I know better. I think I've just been so busy taking care of my parents (dad), running their errands, taking mom to get hair done (she's been going every week for YEARS), grocery shopping & now I even cook a little extra & drop it off. I digress... So, why am I having this discomfort when drinking water? What's this all about? I've always loved water!

    Next goal met!!

Good for you. Who cares how long it takes, although I know, it's never quick enough We all lose weight at different intervals & it's GREAT that you only have 40 pds to go. Congrats!!!

    Hello everyone!

Congrats & welcome! You're right, this will be quite the journey. There will definitely be ups & downs, and it's a constant learning experience. I'm 4 months out tomorrow (and always learning something new). Enjoy the ride!

    Awareness

OK, I'm not up to date. What is this, how much does it run & where can I find it? Appreciate the info., thanks everyone!!!
  20. Why is it when I'm highly stressed, I go towards junk food. I did great all day until this afternoon when I got home from my parents house, for the 2nd time today. As you may know, my dad is in stage 4 cancer, and while he's been one helluva trooper beating this cancer shi*, it's finally starting to take it's toll. He's starting to feel pain more often so the pain meds are getting stronger & given more often. He still looks strong, but we know the inevitable. Anyway, I had to call Hospice, his Dr, then check on him, then go back when the Hospice Nurse got there, and make an apt for him to go to his regular Dr tomorrow. Mind you, many emails & texts with my husband & brother in between. You get the picture? With all these "excuses" said, I ate 2 (not just one) sugar cookies AND a few chips (which I NEVER eat)! I was on a roll not eating "junk" food then I hit major stress & BAM.. back to the horrible habits! Can anyone tell me.....Why, oh why do old habits die hard?

Why, oh why do old habits die hard?

I know this is a difficult time for me, but I shouldn't use it as an excuse to eat poorly. It's truly just not worth it. I need to keep positive thoughts in my mind, stay focused & turn to my fellow bandsters for support when I feel I need it. I appreciate everyone's comments, regardless what they may be. Thank you.

No more sand in my sandbox!

Good for you. Love the pj's. Where'd you get them?

    Why hello there ONEDERLAND!

Yippee, yahoo! I weighed myself this morning & there it was just starting at me. The scale actually started with the number "1". Let's forget the fact that the other #'s were 99.6. Who cares? It actually started with a "1" It's probably been 10+ years since I've seen that. It felt so good that I even put on my size 18 jeans & they fit. A little snug in the tummy area, but you could actually tell that I'd lost 45 pds with them on. I actually had a male co-worker (who knows me well) tell me that he could tell I lost weight!!!!! I'm excited & looking forward to hitting 190 in the next 6 weeks :-)
  24. It definitely takes some getting used to... eventually you get pretty close I"m curious. People talk about weighing. My nutritionist suggested I use measuring cups instead of the scale. Does anyone really know the difference? I focus on 1/2 - 1 cup of food.
  25. I don't know what it feels like when you're band slips, and I hope I never do! However, being almost 4 months out, I have had the pleasure of getting that darn chest pain following by "the slimy feeling." After doing a lot of reading, I believe my problem was that I didn't eat small enough pieces and/or chew slowly enough. It's a horrible feeling! Sadly, I've had it several times. I'm guessing I"m a slow learner. It's hard to change your ways after 47 years. It takes time, but you can do it.
