Do You Ever Feel Judged Because You Are On The "smaller" Side?
jessicakesbanded posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just got banded on August 9, 2012 and I couldn't be happier. I have been dealing with my weight my whole entire life, and I am only 24. I have 60-70 lbs to lose. I hold my weight pretty proportionally too. When making the decision to get the lapband, I got a whole lot of "you are too skinny to get the lapband", or "you should just be happy with yourself the way you are", or "you should just diet/exercise, surgery is too drastic", yet, when someone who is 300 lbs says that they are going to get WLS, people are always so supportive of them. It's like telling that 300 lbs person that they can have the lapband, but only until they get to 190 lbs... And then they are going to have to take it out because they wont need it for the last 60 lbs they need to lose. Ya know? I don't really worry about it anymore, because I've made my decision and I am happy with it, but it still irks me. -

It's Been A Week Already!?
jessicakesbanded posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been a week already?! Holy cow. Lots and lots of down time, and quite a bit of pain, but I'm finally feeling a lot better (and TMI, but A LOT better after my first BM last night lol). I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow, but I did weigh-in today..... I lost 7.2 lbs! In one week! SEVEN POINT TWO! craziness. That brings me to a total of 14 lbs, and only 56 more to go lol. I am not expecting a huge loss next week, but I am aiming for 1-2 lbs. Did anyone get to start mushies on week 2? I don't feel like I have any swelling around my band, and I am able to get all my Protein and Water in every day, so I am just hoping I can start on some semi-real food... and maybe start getting some Fiber back in to my diet ASAP lol. woo hoo! If any of y'all have a youtube account and would like to follow my journey on there, or have me follow you, please subscribe! My username is jessicakesbanded and I make update videos at least every week. -
My 24th birthday was August 2, I was banded on August 9. I paid out of pocket for my surgery. So it was one big, very expensive, life changing birthday present. I want to make all of my birthdays in the future even happier and healthier then ever before.

I'm still really sore, but a lot better then I've been all week. I'm actually starting to get shooting pains in my lower abdomen, which I know are gas pains. -
August Roll Call
jessicakesbanded replied to DeAna N's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been taking the gummy vitamins for awhile now and I like them, I got them at walgreens. BUT, I have been banded now for 1 week, and i've tried them a few times this week and they weren't going down very smooth. I have been using flinstones per my surgeon's instructions (nostalgic huh?!) for this week, and until I run out of them, then I'll probably go back to the gummies. I guess for right after surgery, some people prefer the chewables (the chalky kind) rather then the gummies just because they can desolve more before swallowing -

Looking For An Accountability Partner! Maybe In San Francisco
jessicakesbanded posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey everyone! I am looking for a few accountability partners. I was just banded on August 9, and I have just under 70 lbs to lose. I want to keep on track until I reach my goal! It would be really great if I could meet someone in the San Francisco area as well. -

I was banded on August 9 and I am just starting to get hungry for real food. I have no problem getting all of my Water and all of my Protein in. I have a feeling I'll be starting on mushies next week after I see the doctor for my post-op on friday. I've been living off of the unjury chicken soup though, it feels really good going down too. I also have a juicer, so i'll make fresh juice and add in unflavored Isopure. I am in pain though as far as side pains and gas pains and fatigue, but I don't feel any pain internally really.

Hey y'all! I'm Jessica. Guess I am a part of the class of August 2012 now! I was banded a few days ago, and still recovering. The day of my surgery was probably the most painful day of my life (just being honest here), but every day I get better and better. I honestly believe that this was the best decision I ever made. I have my own YouTube channel where I am tracking my whole journey. You should subscribe if you are interested! My username on there is the same, Jessicakesbanded

Hi! I'm Jessica, And I Just Got Banded!
jessicakesbanded posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HI everyone! Just wanted to come on here and do a quick introduction. My name is Jessica, I just turned 24 years old. Live in the wonderful city of San Francisco. I am 5'2, and I've dealt with weight issues my whole life. I've also been yo-yo dieting for the past 10+ years. Even on the "smaller" side of WLS, I've still developed weight induced health issues. I truly am ready to take control of my life. I love my body and I love myself. I owe it to myself to be heathy. I was banded on Thursday August 9, 2012. The day of surgery was realllllly rough, but I had my wonderful boyfriend and my mom to take care of me. It is Saturday, and I am still in pain, but with every day, it gets better and better. My goal is lose 70 lbs. I am so happy and hopeful of my future! -
