thanks for your response. i think that her coolness in my intial visit was a bit offputting but her confidence was reassuring. i would love to compare notes with you when and if i get closer. -
ANTIBIOTICS and PAIN RELIEVER

thanks...i am a big fan of vegetables. And would feel sad to lose them. i am attempting to look for a suppliment for calcium in a small chocolate candy. i am getting up there and have a family history of bone density problems...so i need to do it...now. -
what does the port look like? i am unclear on the fills but i am catching on by reading all of your comments. but what it looks like has not been described...or i haven't read about it yet. thanks

ANTIBIOTICS and PAIN RELIEVER

sue thanks for you intellegent reponses. Great to hear that the Vitamin loss is not an issue. That was sort of scary. i read about the diarreah post op from some of the other discussions here. it seemed like it was related to liquid diet etc and that it cleared up. i don't want to dwell on the lows, i am really trying to get a handle on what to expect. Can anyone direct me to place here where the known short and long term side affects are listed? I appreciate the wisdom of "if you don't change behavior nothing will work". anyway....this is off the topic of antibiotics...sorry -
when you read about nutrition, fish or other lean protien in the am is highly suggested. so if the fish goes down easily...that seems like a plan! take a swig of mouthwash and you will feel great. the sugary breakfasts appeal to me, and I wish I liked fish...I am trying to change it.

this brings up a question i have about the effects of the band: do you have the same chronic Vitamin loss that needs suppliments that you have with the other surgeries? ( multi Vitamins make me quesy now...without the band) i think it seems not...it also seems that with the other surgeries you get diarreah and with this procedure, it is only for the first days...? i am trying to understand all the lows as the highs are unquestionable...as i see from reading so many of your posts. -
you are an advertisment for this procedure. you must be thrilled. i am very proud of you... i haven't had the procedure...what is the difference in the type of band you have and some of the others. did you have any problems with the band?

yes, i have done phen phen and did not get hurt...except that i went in there with at 180 and afterwards ended up at 200 after going off it in fear... I also have done the diet center, atkins and weight watchers over and over. eveyone of these sytems works for me but i never can keep it a pemanent solution. the only way to change this is to keep the calories down and the activity up for the rest of your life. and then there is one;s metabolism, genetics etc. i don't know why but i got really scared of the lap band when i first met with dr. kurian...maybe it was some statistic about it not working?

i have not had the surgery. i am scared to do it as i am not "yet" morbidly obese, but everytime i diet, i regain more...i am not unhealthy yet ...but i look like a different person than i was... i am on the borderline of how much overweight you need to be to get the surgery at all...but i am in a pattern of going up and up and i am so depressed at how i look. but i am totally afraid to give up perfect health (no diabetes no heart problems...doc says i am healthy) for potential illhealth due to the surgery... i have been reading as many posts as i can and really think you guys have the answers as you have been there.

sue thanks for your thoughts. i do eat healthy and exercise now...but i would have to reduce the amount i eat a great deal...my desire to do this seems constantly overshadowed by my bodies will to keep the weight up there. i refocus on the portion control when i feel awful about myself and then when i get busy or what not...back to regular amounts...which is not more than what my friends eat...but just not for my darn body. so this band seems like a solution to this but still a big huge step.
