At first they keep me because I could keep down and liquids for the first 2 days, then I had problems with heartburn and hiccups. I'm not having much pain, which is good, Hopefully I get to go home tomorrow. -

Roll Call Nurses Being Sleeved ...........
Peace36love replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a RN, 43 years old and I have been a Nurse for 17 years, 3 years Med-Surg, 13 years ER and 8months Hospice/Home Health. I just recently had the procedure done on Sept 11,2012. I'm still in the hospital as I type this because for the first 2 days I could not get anything past my diaphragm. Lots of nausea and vomiting. I'm doing mush better today however, now I'm having a lot of heartburn and hiccups. I had a Hiatal hernia repair with the sleeve, Has anybody else experience this? -

All Food Feels Like It Its Stuck In My Throat And Chest

I'm glad to hear from you all this is somewhat normal. I'm still in the hospital, I am 4 days post op and having to worse case of heartburn. They say it comes from crystal light lemonade flavor. I drunk some and thought I was going to die. I'm also having hiccups. I had a hiatal hernia repair with the surgery so the first 2 days post op I could not get anything to go down past my diaphragm. I really hurts to swallow to fast or to large of an amount. I pray to go home tomorrow. I don't really know when I am full but I don't really feel hungry. Did anybody else have a hernia repair with the sleeve surgery? -

Lost A Man, Gaining A New Life, All In Divine Order.
Peace36love posted a blog entry in Peace36love's Blog
Greetings to all you out there, Michele here, and I guess I wanted to share some of my personal journey with you all. My heart is somewhat heavy but I am finding joy and excitement in this process just the same. I have been praying for change, feels like all of my life, but I think I really got clear last year on the change I wanted to see. I was in a relationship with a man who was kind, gentle, quiet, and much older than me. We got along O.K. but I knew in my heart we where not the best for each other. Quite a few things was wrong in our relationship, but one of the main issues was we saw life quite differently. He cares very little about his health, and that's all I care about, my health. Like I said before I prayed for change and it wasn't long before the Universe had the ball rolling, to make a long story short we broke up in December 2011. In my mind however, I thought we had a chance of reconciliation, not wanting to let go and Let God, I continued to hold on to that hope, and even after I had decied to go through with this life changing procedure, I still wanted to hold on to the old me and my old life and my old way of doing things. As of August 2012, he has officially started another relationship. At first I was very hurt, as turbulent as things where, he was still my best friend, and I had grown to be very dependent on his emotional support, but now is the time for me to move forward by myself. I realized it was all in Divine order. It was so fitting that he find someone new one month before my surgery, so we both can break this emotional tie we have to each other, especially me. The weight challenge has been mine, and I think relationship issues, in some form or fashion have played a role in this struggle. I really don't like being by myself, and it took me a while to figure out the difference in being by myself, and being alone *vs* being lonely. The Universe is now giving me what I want, a change in my life for the better, a fresh start at a healthy lifestyle and an active life. All old must be removed for the new to enter. I wish him only the best, I am forever grateful for the time (6 years) we had together. I send all the Love, Peace and Blessings to him and his new Love, and I am so grateful for the new Love that I am moving forward with ....Me. -

Be easy on yourself. It seems like everyone gets into a little slow period, but from what I hear it is short lived. Also for work be prepared for the snacking but maybe bring something to distract you or my some healthy bulky snacks like apple slices or pear slices, they have fiber and will create bulk. Also I have tried Unjury, Chocolate Splender and it is the bomb protein drink. It taste so good. You are doing great, and your Mojo will return. I hope this helps...Much Love.

Hey, everybody. I planned a day of cheating, my last meal before my surgery. I went to a Italian place and now I have taken my laxatives and one more day of clear liquids. I'm very excited. Total of 11lbs lost and on Tuesday at 12:30pm the beginning of the rest of my life.

@ newgrandmother, I had my pre-op visit today and theni stop in Trader Joes and they have a Latin style Back bean soup in the carton that is so good, only 70 cal. per cup and it really helps with the cravings, warm and spicy. I was going to eat something but my father is flying in from Philadelphia on Sat to be with me while I'm having my surgery and I decided to not eat until he gets here and I will have my last meal on Sunday, Laxative that night and surgery on Tues. Something else I found to help me with cravings is Jello Mousse temptation, dark chocolate 60 cal and 0 fat. Hope that will assist you. Much Love...You will be just find...

I am so ready to be in the space you are in. I am just at my Pre-Op appt date and I'm very excited to have a new outlook on food and the consumption of it.
-
I'm going to my Pre-op appt tomorrow, and I am so ready for this. My surgery date is 9/11 but the computer won't save that date. It's o.k. Even though it is a hard day to remember, I'm going to make it into something good for me.

Come On Nurses, Let's Conference
Peace36love replied to herewegoagain's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so ready for this surgery. I worked in the ER and it had got to the point where I just couldn't keep up with the demand and I was eating myself to death. Now I'm working in the Hospice House and I'm ready to leave for something different but one thing at a time. I am having my surgery on Sept 11th. When you lose you gain hopefully strength and stamina. -
Anyone With Dreds Have Hair Loss?
Peace36love replied to BKdoll's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have Dreads too and that is my main concern. Hopefully we won't notice it so much beacuse that is some of how the lock is formed from natural hair loss. I'm a little thin in the top anyway. I don't want to loss any more than I have to. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Weight Loss Tools -
African-American Women Healthier With Higher Bmi
Peace36love replied to Phoenixrise's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with you on this post. I am 5"10" and according to the BMI I should weight 179Lbs which to me is too small. You also have to take into account for frame size and the natural extra "junk in the trunk". I would love to be 200Lbs. I think that would be Great for me. -
