About Me

Hey! Thanks for visiting my page. I'm a newbie to the Lapband talk page. I will be banded on the 16th of August, and this site was recommended by a friend. I've learned a lot of great information thus far by reading posts. I hope that once I begin my journey, I can be as helpful as most of you are to the newbs!

I have contemplated the lapband for years now. It was something my mother discovered, and suggested for me. My first visit to my primary care physician for information about the lapband was when I was 18 years old. He said that I was not a good candidate, and that I would have better luck with traditional dieting and exercising. Little did he know, that I had tried those things already. I was discouraged, and did nothing more for the cause.

3 years later, I saw an ad for the lapband on TV. This sparked my interest once again. I researched for weeks. Being that I dont have insurance, I just knew that I was dreaming. This would never happen for me, because I simply could not afford it. I'm a college student, with bad credit. I brought the idea up to my father, who said little about it. I thought that was his way of pushing off the idea. But little did I know, the gears in his mind started moving. He found a way for me to get the money for the surgery. The past 4 months I have spent preparing myself for this lifestyle change. I've lost 27lbs so far. I am being banded in 1 week. This is real. This is my life. I still feel like it's a dream. I am so thankful for everyone who has helped me get where I am. The nurses, Dr. Zarif, my friends who have encouraged me and of course my Daddy, who has always wanted the best for me, and is one of the only reasons that I'm able to have this surgery done.
