How do you feel about eating out after weight loss surgery?
GrandmaBarb replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i try to go to places I can order appetizers or small portions My surgeon gave me a card to show if needed. I am with someone who knows so I will share or take home a portion. though when I order crepes etc and leave the crepe and only eat the fresh fruit I do get some strange looks As long as I am paying the restaurant doesn't care and I usually start with you may think I am crazy but.. I want a sandwich with no bread or a salad easy on the lettuce.... I have lost 160 in 15 months still want to lose another 50 but we will see. -

Some people just dont get it, I am very lucky and have supportive friends and family. It sounds that you are used to her not being supportive of anyone's weight loss but think that she will be different with you. Grandma's, and I am one, do'nt change easily, do what you have done with her "compliments" all your life - file them in the trash can and go on with what you know is true. If you are having trouble keep one pair of your way too big scrubs and hang a pair of of the size you want to be next to each other. Every day you get this treatment look at the big ones, look at your goal and look where you are that day. That will make it more tangible and you will be able to brush off those "compliments". Believe in yourself and let those taunts die! -

I can understand how you are feeling and I have only dieted once before (pre cancer surgery) so I don't need to worry bout the preconceived yoyo part. But I am 68 and I am sort of enjoying the ability to shop where ever I want not just plus sizes. I keep a couple of articles of the next size down waiting for me to get there, I am looking at it as an adventure. If I could say one thing get rid of the old baggy stuff and enjoy the new styles. People will ask and you can answer them honestly. I have found great support from my co-workers and the change from 32 to 16 is an accomplishment am very proud of and am eager to share this achievement and method with others who can benefit. Please share your story with others and help them. I will not be parading around in a bikini ( I am 68) but jeans and shorts are back in the closet!
