So turned out that my band was actually eroded and created a hole in my stomach. The surgeon who removed it said it was one of the worst he's seen and the band was way too small for my stomach! Had it removed Dec 7th.. finally starting to feel like a human being again! What a nightmare! Anyone ever have this kind of experience? Sent from my SM-G935W8 using the BariatricPal App

I've never had a fill. Always had an empty band.. that was enough for me I found. What did you eat when you had slipped? Sent from my SM-G935W8 using the BariatricPal App I never had it filled, always have been empty. I found that was enough for me. What did you eat during that time? So.. I've had my band for 4 years this month, I lost 120lbs and have kept most of it off. Ive never had a fill.Never had any band complications until now. Suddenly I was having insane pain eating, the food would go down but when it would begin to digest I would be in pain. My surgeon is 8 hour drive away from me, and only covered me for 2 years and my family doctor doesn't have any knowledge surrounding the lap band. So I put myself on a liquid diet and went to the ER, they took a x ray and the doctor said it looks like my band has shifted and to stay on Protein shakes etc, so she referred me to a gastroentrologist but now they're telling me it's a 6 week wait just to get a endoscopy.. 6 weeks just to have it looked at is just absolutely insane to me.. I'm assuming I'll need surgery to have it fixed or removed!? Wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and what their experience was like and what the heck to eat when you have a slipped band? Thanks in advance Sent from my SM-G935W8 using the BariatricPal App

Thank you for the reply! I went to emerge and they gave me a x ray and said it looks like my band has slipped so they put me in touch with a gastoenterologist but it's a 6 week wait to just get a scope done to ensure what the problem is. The doctor in the ER told me to just keep eating Protein shakes but it'll be 7 weeks at that point I don't know how someone is supposed to live like that for 7 weeks just to even get looked at. Such a nightmare Sent from my SM-G935W8 using the BariatricPal App

Was wondering if anyone is from the Okanagan? I've had my band for 4 years now and haven't had any issues until the past 24 hours. Any time I eat ANYTHING I get severe pain in my stomach that radiates into my back, kind of felt the way I did when I had gall stones but I've had my gallbladder removed. Anyways wondering if anyone's experienced this? My lap and doctor is very far away from where I live. So wondering if maybe I should just go to the hospital or if anyone knows of any walk in doctors in Kelowna or Vernon BC that have experience with lap band as my GPA hasn't any clue about them. So.. I'm currently 9 months post op, down 125lbs. Woke up this morning with a wicked pain at my poor site and my port indented in my body, when it's always protruded out a bit. It's like a second belly button and it huuuuuurrts! I have no troubles eating or drinking.. But the pain increases as I ingest anything. And YES I am waiting in emerg right now waiting... Any thoughts?

This happens to me all the time now! Except it's on the opposite side of my body from my port.

Hi! I'm 9 months post-op and almost at my goal weight. I now have Gall stones and am meeting with the surgeon on Tuesday. But the past two months or so, I feel a flutter in my abdomen, kind of like a muscle spasm. It happens maybe once or twice every few days.. Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience? It's super weird, kind of what I would imagine a baby kick would feel like. Completely freaked me out the first time. I live 8 hours away from my Weight loss surgeon, so have only been able to speak with him over the phone.. But I don't think it has anything to do with my band. Thanks in advance!

I'm going thru the same thing right now. The first time I had a gall bladder attack I thought I was going to be giving birth, it's really scary when you don't know what's happening to your body! I live in Canada, and the wait lists for the gall bladder doctor can be up to a year, so I've been learning some tricks for my attacks. Apple cidar vinegar helps! Apples help! Good luck!

Hi! Not from Vancouver, but Kelowna. I was banded Nov 16, 2012 by doctor Tang in Victoria. Starting wait was 305, was just down there on Wednesday to follow up and I'm proud to say I weighed exactly 205 at my appt haven't had any fills, probably won't since I only want to lose another 35lbs because I am 5'10. Best wishes on everybody's journeys!

For me popcorn is a slider. I only will have it as a treat once in awhile, as it doesn't fill me up. But it goes down easy for me.

I just explain that I'm eating way smaller portions, eat more often and I work out 5x a week. Which is the true. The band only curbs our hunger, we still control what we put into our body's.. If I wanted to eat around it I totally could. I didn't want people to judge me for my band, or take any of the credit away. I worked hard for my body to get to this point, and it hasn't been easy. To be honest tho, no one has really 'grilled' me on it

I really admire everyone who has shared with others. I was banded in November, have lost 100lbs incredibly fast, and the only people who know about my band are my parents because they paid for it. I'm just a really private person when it comes to my battle with weight issues, I didn't want to hear any negative feed back from anyone because I am the kind of person who would become discouraged by it. Congrats on your journey
