  1. In the hospital, I could not have made it without my heating pad. A lot of posts that I have read from others mentioned having a small pillow on hand too. (To help with coughing, getting up, rolling over, etc) Post-op, I could not have made it without my broth. That stayed in when nothing else would! I am a reforming coffee addict , so hot tea, in many flavors, has become my go to. (caffeine free, of course) I am two weeks post-op, and am still having difficulty with my shakes even when I thin them. My Protein supplement has been with the Herbalife beverage mix. Good protein, but the consistency is more like a juice, and not thick like the shakes. I stocked up on the Protein Shakes also- I am a long time fan of my protein shakes, but I have yet to be able to drink my shakes without getting nauseated. Maybe keep an alternative protein source on hand.
  2. Perhaps he is jealous that you are doing something for yourself. Keep your head up! You have to take care of you!
  3. How's the 17th Sleevers doing? We are close enough to mushy foods to almost taste it!!! How's everyone doing? I am learning to like hot tea more and more, but I do really miss my coffee! I am finally able to keep my liquids in. This has been a difficulty, but I am thankful that I was able to avoid becoming dehydrated. I did come up with an awesome recipe for a dessert, or to help with a chocolate craving! I'll share if there are those that would like the directions. Pat yourselves on the back!! We have made a step to better our lives and our future!!
  4. Oh no! I didn't experience the drain tube. I can imagine that you are tired of that! I called the nurses' desk yesterday and asked if I could start adding some Lactaid to my shakes today. She had no problem with it, so I started last night! :-P They are keeping me from being painfully hungry. I am blessed to have kept them down with no nausea. I also added a tablespoon of sugar free chocolate pudding to my shake! I wanted something rich and chocolatey soo bad! Lol!
  5. How's the 12/17 crew doing? I experienced some out of nowhere emotions yesterday. Found myself in tears from frustration with the hunger. Is anyone else having this issue with hunger?
  6. No, I had mine done at the Slidell Surgical Center. The surgery was a breeze. I expected so many more complications! I was up and walking within 5 hours of surgery. I have lingering gas, as in if I swallow too fast, a bubble comes up! Makes me think of a goldfish! Lol!
  7. I was sleeved on 12/17. My eyesight changed as well. It was necessary for me to wear my Mom's reading glasses to read everything! I removed my Dramamine patch in the evening of 12/19. My vision has since cleared up and is back to normal.
  8. Dr. Matthew French. He's with the Surgical Specialists of Louisiana.
  9. Surgery went very well. I have walked a lot without nausea. I am surprised that I am not miserable! I can drink ice water better than the broth or the Crystal Light. I'd say so far so good!!
  10. In my post-op room now. Waiting for my surgeon to arrive. Surgery was scheduled for 8:00, but has been delayed due to a schedule issue with the surgeon. All I can say at this moment is- I Want Coffee!!!
  11. My sleeve is today also! I am so excited to begin this new journey. A new chapter begins.
  12. Hey, Dexter. I attended the seminar tonight. I am excited and anxious all at the same time. I understand where you are coming from about wanting to do things with your kids. I can't wait to ride the roller coaster with my daughter for the first time- and she's 14!
