    Horrible Stomach Acid

Not sure how far out you are from surgery, but I had very bad stomach acid for awhile after surgery. I have GERD so they said the stomach acid could increase for awhile after surgery. I am 11 weeks out and the excess acid is gone. I am still on prevacid though. What you are describing sounds like you may be eating or drinking too fast or possibly too much. I got alot of severe pain just underneath my breast bone whenever I ate or drank too much, too fast or ate and drank at the same time. I would also get very nauseous and had cold sweats. I also vommitted a couple of times. It is better now since I learned to never eat and drink at the same time and ate/drank slowly. Hope you're feeling better soon! Carly
  2. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. My last period before surgery was 10/23. Had surgery 11/28. Finally got my period on 1/7 and bled pretty heavy for 18 days until 1/25! Went to the doctor and he said that it was most likely because I hadn't had it in a while so maybe I had a build up or something. He is sending me for bloodwork and an ultrasound next week. Possibly an endometrial biopsy as well just to rule out anything else going on. Good luck to you. Let me know how you're doing!

    Had Surgery on 1/21. :-)

Congratulations on your surgery! I was sleeved 8 weeks ago tomorrow. The first few days were rough for me because of the nausea from anesthesia and pain from the incisions. Other than that, it really is going well. Just remember to walk walk walk! It really does help with gas pain. I also used the spirometer every hour for the first few days. That helped alot as well. At 8 weeks, I have lost 45.5 pounds and am really excited about that. Just also remember to drink SLOWLY and when you start on mushies/purees and regular foods - eat really slow and do not eat and drink! When you eat fast and/or eat and drink, you will feel a type of "fullness" pain in your chest, which can be kinda painful especially in the beginning. You may also end up vomiting from it. That happened to me once when I ate and drank. Sometimes it doesn't come on for a little bit, so you may not be able to tell that you are full or can't fit any more in. You will get used to what "full" feels like eventually. Good luck and let us know how you're doing!!
  4. Hi Deb! Yes, I had my surgery on 11/28, so I'm 10 days post-op. The first few days were pretty rough only because you're sore from the incisions and I was nauseated, which is very normal. They gave me meds to control pain and nausea, which helped alot. I would say by Monday, 12/3, I was really starting to feel pretty good. The hardest parts for me were that after surgery you cannot drink anything until the next morning after you go for the leak test. Trying to drink in the very beginning was pretty difficult, but manageable. It is alot easier now, as long as I remember to drink SLOWLY! LOL Dr. Boorse did my surgery - I really loved him! The nurses on the surgical floor were really great too! Good luck with everything and let me know what happens after you meet with Dr. Boorse. Carly

    Sleeve Surgery 11/28/12

I am also very phobic about vomiting after surgery. Anesthesia told me that they will give me something before I wake up for nausea, so I am hoping that will help. Thank you all for your support and good wishes. I will let you know how it goes!
  7. Tomorrow is my day! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'm worried about feeling pain after surgery and not being able to sip water or fluids at all. Any suggestions?
  8. I went to Lehigh valley for the seminar too. I in the 2nd mo of a 3 month program ap hopefully surgery will be late oct or early nov. good luck and keep us posted!!
  9. Stay strong. Things will get better. Take it from a serious emotional eater, you won't actually feel better if you binge. You will only feel remorse and guilt!! Good luck with everything and I hope thi gs get better and less stressful soon!!

    New Guy Here....

Sounds like we are both new to this site. I am looking at surgery late October/November. I had my sleep study done and I too have severe sleep apnea. CPAP helps me alot (when I use the machine). I am looking forward to not needing the machine eventually. It's funny, I didn't even know I wasn't getting any kind of good sleep until I used the CPAP. I just thought I was extremely tired because of stress, getting up "early" (6:00am), working, taking care of the kids, etc. I'm also diabetic and am looking forward to hopefully not having to take any meds or insulin. My sister recently had the surgery. She is 2 1/2 months out and has already lost 40 lbs. It was difficult in the beginning with getting all the Water, Protein in, but she is doing great now. I've also tried many diets and have never been able to keep the weight off. With every diet I've tried, I gained back all the weight and another 20 or 30 for good measure! Good luck with your journey and let us know how it's going!
  11. I decided to have the sleeve surgery and have just recently had my first session/appt. Very excited and very nervous, but looking forward to looking and feeling better than I have in a long time. It is looking like surgery will most likely be in October/November. How long is the typical recovery time before returning to work? I'm thinking about 2 weeks or so. Anyone else out longer or shorter?
