Freedom and more firsts

I love thrift stores and consignment shops. Garage sales and my favorite, FB swap sites. Swaps are great, you make better money than consigning. More money to splurge on victory clothes. -

Awesome! An ex small? I can't imagine. I've tried to figure out what NSV means??? -
I tried yoga again. I'm probably the biggest yoga critic. I didn't understand how relaxing could make you fit. I tried it a couple weeks ago and I made 2 huge mistakes. One I did it with 2 teenage girls and two I made it into a competition. Boy was I sore. A 49 year old shouldn't try to go for the win with 2 teen girls. Yet I was intrigued, couldn't get it off my mind. So yesterday I decided to really search youtube. I have no interest in taking a class, buying a mat or heaven forbid, yoga pants. What I found were a series of beginner yoga called beginners yoga for dummies. The instructors name is Jen. I liked her because of her peppy attitude, kind of goofy. I like goofy. Well color me stupid but I loved it! Loved it so much I made it they the first 3 parts at approximately 37 minutes each. I feel it today but it's not a muscle ache or soreness but I'm very aware of the muscles that got worked. Best ab workout I've found yet (part 3). I feel taller and elongated. I'm aware of my posture for the first time EVER. I can't wait to do some more. All that's really required is loose clothing (we all have THAT, I put on baggy shorts and tee shirt), bare feet, and a blanket. No expensive anything. Last time I checked bare feet were free

I know the cashiers at the store probably talk about my once a month banana buying habits. I buy one and try to get the greenest one I can. Whoa there Nelly...pace yourself! And it's 2 servings. Lol

How to deal with MDD, anxiety, and post op
kimpossible67 replied to Shell88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're being proactive. I admire that. It's very tough when things get so monotone, I'm glad you recognize what you need. -
My ankles 124 lbs ago measured 9 inches. It's driven me nuts that in a year, no amount of weightloss and exercise has decreased them. So I give it another go today...8.5!!! Yeeee hawww!!! 1 year and 1 week is all it took to lose 1/2 inch and it feels like a major victory!

Feeling really stupid about my food choice?
kimpossible67 replied to K-Lynn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had pizza I think twice. It took like 6 hours or more to eat it and I didn't eat the crust. Tasted great and I don't guilt myself. Why? I can only take a few bites before I have to put it down anyway. Why stress the small stuff? In comparison the old me would have put away at LEAST 12 large pizzas in a year. 2 slices vs 12 large pizzas, what is that like 72 slices? In a year? Let it go, you're fine. -
Attention scale users! A new challenge.
kimpossible67 replied to Kindle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you ditch the scale, do yourself a favor and avoid the bmi calculator too. -
Nope, you've gotta just roll with it. I hate to hear this but it's true, we didn't put it on overnight, we aren't going to lose it overnight. Eat and drink what you're supposed to, exercise to your ability. Maybe challenge yourself a little with the exercise.

How to deal with MDD, anxiety, and post op

Btw, I've taken seroquel for many years. NOTORIOUS weight gainer. I think I put on 60 lbs the first 3 months I was on it. Imo I used it as an excuse to eat. Now post op I realize it's purpose for ME, to help with insomnia. I'm on 400 mg and have lost 124 in 53 weeks. -

Ask yourself as they will at the hospital, "do you feel like harming yourself or others?" If you're spiraling towards or at the yes of that question then get to the hospital. Beginning and tweaking the right meds suck but If it's between meds or worse case scenario...take the meds. -
Okay okay I was wrong

Lol, love it! Yes my winter feet are not attractive. This is the first day's in six months I haven't had socks on! -
I'm bipolar with anxiety too so I take a handful of meds and I have no intention of going off them. The world can't use an unmedicated me. I'm concerned about the doseage to body weight.

OMG! FINALLY!!! I take prozac for the same reason and I'm having amnesia. My primary says it's probably the prozac. I asked this question and I can't find anything...do your psych meds need to be reduced as you lose major weight? Im losing my freaking mind!!!

I cut them in half for a few months and I take 5-6 pills. One refused to crush. I had no problems. Break it in to 1/4's if you can and take one every five minutes.

You've got to try this! Link is posted. She has a specific yoga for back pain and sciatica. I just like her peppy yet calm manner. I was a bit shocked at the "go ahead and bend your knees." That made all the difference in the world. And it finally all makes sense. You're "relaxing" into the poses, learning to breathe and not hold your breath, not relaxing like taking a nap! -

It won't let me post the link. Her name is Jen Hilman. In your youtube search put beginners yoga for dummies part 1. She has dark hair, big eyes and a white/purple flowered tank top. Sorry I can't do anymore. Maybe someone else can try to post the video??? -

Would you post a link to one of hers? I would like to check it out but I'm really bad at finding things on youtube and I'm afraid I'll get the wrong one. Here it is I don't know why it's not letting me post the link!!! http://youtu.be/EgZsU2jvgVo. -

Macomb County Michigan Newbie scheduled in May
kimpossible67 replied to MyNewLife28's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree. The first few months are difficult. You go from eating so much down to trying to get enough! Your brain says "yes I can" while your sleeve says "no way in hell." It's worth it though. Just don't go into it thinking you've got it all figured out. You don't "get" it til you "GET" it. -
Macomb County Michigan Newbie scheduled in May

I'm in the thumb. I had mine with Dr. Taylor at the Barix Clinic in ypsalanti one year ago. I've heard they're carried at Kroger. I have 2 small town stores by me that carries them. Rockin' Refuel. LOVE them! 30 grams protein but we only (fine by me) have chocolate. It's chocolate milk but lactose free. 2 bucks each. At first I could only drink half at a time so a buck a meal, that's reasonable enough. -
Is anyone close to the 35 BMI range?
kimpossible67 replied to kanknrysmom1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Through the course of my experience thus far and I'm a year post op is that BMI SUCK! It's so unrealistic. You'll be where you need to be to get surgery but you'll soon see the bmi calculator is ridiculous after the sleeve. Look at the calculator as little as possible. Worse than the scale. -
It does make my mouth dry. I read somewhere that it's not true that coffee dehydrates. Only if you drink a lot of it. I have usually 1 sometimes 2 cups a day.

I found a "new" part
kimpossible67 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Me too! That and I can cross my legs! I can feel the bones in my upper arms, I can even feel my backbone. I still have under 40 to lose. I'm excited by whatever bony part shows up next!
