Nausea after surgery
kimpossible67 replied to *Lexie*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved April 7th. Still have days that water feels like wet cement but it's getting better. Everything went so smoothly except for the almost always sick stomach. Oh well. Down 63 lbs this morning. It's still worth it! -
Depression issues-bipolar-after surgery
kimpossible67 replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm bp with OCD and anxiety. All controlled for the most part. I still get depressed. That hasn't changed. Maybe not as often. I had an emergency incident last week. They called it an accidental overdose. The question has been brought to my attention are my meds too strong due to the 61 lb loss??? I take lamictal seroquel, Prozac and 4 mgs a day Xanax. A lot of highly potent meds. -
Went to the one in ypsalanti mi. Has anyone else used Barix's? The whole process was great. My recovery was smooth and basically painless. Down 61 lbs since April 7, 2014.

I have days a half cup goes down fine and days that just fluids sit like a huge meal. That little pouch gets pms I swear. Oh that's awful about no sf products! I believe in the principles of Atkins, I am using it post op. 99 pounds is incredible! How do you handle no sugar free? Can you tolerate sugar? I haven't come across any food I can't tolerate, it's just a matter of if the sleeve is in a good mood that day. -
Question...what has been the hardest thing to deal with post op?
kimpossible67 replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The aftermath. I watched my former husband go through the same process so I thought I knew EXACTLY how I would feel. Not so much. The surgery and recovery were a breeze. The mental part a breeze. Trying desperately daily to force down fluids and protein was almost my undoing. I was terribly frustrated. BUT I lurked here and learned it's just temporary and it is. Much better now. Never in my fat life had I had to force food down. Entirely new way of life! Best wishes for coming to the other side. Read these posts. I wish I had pre-surgical. SO HELPFUL! -

I had the sleeve done. I wouldn't touch the band with a 10 ft pole lol. How are you coming along? It works out well because Dr Taylor has an office in Saginaw for post op appts. That's 30 minutes away vs 2 hours to ypsalanti. -

I went by ambulance last week (unrelated) and thank God everyone present knew my exact surgery. No one uttered bypass or band. I believe in full disclosure for just this reason. -
RAP Protein Gummy Snacks

My nut said regarding straws, if they don't cause heartburn or reflux, give it a try. So much easier! -
Take many meds for depression, bipolar OCD and Xanax. I was taken by ambulance this week when as was explained to me, I was mentally gone with dangerously low bp. Ct scan showed nothing nor did bloodwork. I've lost 61 lbs in 12 weeks...could my meds be too much for me? I've been battling nausea badly since surgery. Thank you!

Anyone follow this diet post op? I don't bother with fat, I worry about keeping my carbs low. Sugar free everything and full fat everything. It must be working...I've lost 61 lbs in 12 weeks! Remember, when it says light or fat free the fat is replaced with sugar. Read your labels!!!

With all due respect I suspect we are all on a high protein/low carb plan. With that being said The South Beach diet includes high protein and low fat if my understanding is correct so what is the difference??? I've modified the Atkins plan by eating natural sugars, those found in milk (not low fat) fruits, vegetables and grains. I'm in no way sitting down to bacon. My cheese, sour cream is full fat and I occasionally use real butter. I don't want the refined sugar that replaces the fat.

Hi everyone! I was sleeved on April 7th and I've lost 61 lbs! I have a couple of issues I need to put out there. One I have days of such nausesa I can't eat or drink. It feels like wet cement and lays there for hours. Secondly I have multiple sclerosis which is stable. I'm a highly medicated bipolar. I take lamictal Prozac for OCD I take Four mgs of Xanax for anxiety and seroquel which is a mood stabilizer and sleep aid. I've fallen twice in the last two weeks but MRI came back good. 3 days ago I had an event I don't recall much about. I was complexly out of it, dizzy, falling doing weird stuff, incoherent and confused. The ambulance kindly came to my rescue when my roommate knew something was very very wrong. They thought I had taken street drugs and it alcohol, blood test was negative. My bp was dangerously low. I had a cat scan which was negative. They think somehow I had overdosed myself. Apparently I had spent the day in bed and not eating. When I finally came home and tried to drink every little sip came up. It was like that for about six hours. It's been brought to my attention that because I've lost weight so rapidly there's been no dosage change. The ER doc said I was on enough meds to kill a horse. I'm actually prescribed 15 bottles and I just take my regulars and then as needed. Could my weightloss and meds possibly be the cause??? I intend on calling my psych tomorrow but I'm just curious what any of you have experienced. Thanks for hanging in there!!!

I've smoked for almost 30 years. I now have MS and am bipolar with OCD and severe anxiety. I can only do one thing at a time. I plan on quitting soon but I get stressed easily and it's a crutch. As far as weed goes, I live in Michigan where med m is legal and I'm eligible for it. Because my disease is stable I refuse to get my card. I wholeheartedly believe in pot medically. I strongly think it should be legalized across the board. Hit the drug company's bottom line. I don't care for people who just use because they can and do nothing whatsoever with their lives because they are always stoned. Jmo.

See Cheerios has a product with 50 grams of protein. 50! Has anyone tried them?

M on board for having rny but I'm wondering if Medicare now covers the sleeve? I'm in Michigan. Thanks!

Blew it and I'm concerned about the urine test. I've smoked about a pack in the last week. I've been taking vitamin c drinking oh and eating lots of fruit. Have I done myself in by the 5 cigarettes I've smoked per day. I really need advice as what to do. The stress of all this is really getting to me, the waiting. Help!

I'm bipolar, stable on meds (that can be crushed with no changes). My new therapist works with my bariatric clinic and sent a letter to my surgeon stating she's concerned about my psychological history. She said that's all she wrote and the surgeons office would handle it. I'm already nuts how much worse can it get? I know so much about this surgery aside from actually having it, my ex had it. What should I expect? I've already had a psych eval at another bariatric center and I cleared it with no problems. Worried that I should have just shut up about it to my therapist!

My surgeon won't do surgery on me because of my mental history. Wow, so disappointed.
