My son who is a great estimator says he thinks I weigh about 180. I weigh 222! Makes me wonder, I don't exactly have a goal weight in mind. Maybe the 140's. If I look 40 lbs thinner at 222, I don't think 140 is a good idea. Has anyone else experienced this? Looking way smaller than you actually are?

Appearing smaller than you are
kimpossible67 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hear skinny all the time. It makes me cringe! I carry a good percentage of my weight in my stomach. It's all but melting off. Pants are frustrating because one day they fit next day I look like I'm wearing a droopy diaper, lol. I started this journey six months ago and hit 90 lbs on my anniversary. I guess I should concentrate less on the numbers on the scale and concentrate more on how I feel. I FEEL like I weigh 180. I'm okay with that. -
Well, it's the 10th...how'd it go for you?

I wore shorts yesterday and I've been dropping pretty steady for a couple months. I expected loose boobs and arms and neck and stomach. I NEVER expected for my thighs to have these weird ripples like elephant skin! Not very attractive, lol. I hope it doesn't work it's way down to my lower legs and horrors! My ankle tattoo!!!

Not where I expected loose skin

Glad to know it's not just me! My upper body has stayed pretty good. It wasn't until wearing shorts that I could see where it had drooped. I've list a lot of weight quickly over the last couple of months. My weight was mostly in my stomach and hips and butt...you know! -
How Long will this go on?!?
kimpossible67 replied to DaddyMarie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm exactly six months today. Mine started at month 5 too. It's distressing but it's just hair...it grows back. I will go 2-3 days a week between shampoos. I don't blow dry, straighten or curl or color. I use no hair products. -
To my post I will add I was nauseated quite a bit almost to the point of puking in the hospital. Anesthesia. But the staff would give me meds.

From what I've read it's all over the board. Some had it hard some had it easy. Mine was shockingly painless. However the first few months of juggling nutrients and fluids made my head spin! Everyone's experience is very different. Just keep the faith, wake up and realize you've done a great service to yourself and SMILE! Good luck to you, it will be fine!

My family is having some problems and I'm highly stressed. When I get stressed I won't eat or it's misery when I try. I've lost 4 lbs in 3 days. TRYING to at least get down A protein shake during the day and some almonds but I have no interest in drinking. I can't do any more or I get really nauseous. Advice?

That is EXACTLY what happens! Thank you both for your kind advice!

Gawd. I obsess about food more now....
kimpossible67 replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lol, I do that. I have a huge variety of things to eat. When I look at it all in the fridge I think, how will I possibly eat that ALL? I buy 4 peaches, I can eat half. They rot before I can eat them all. It's a struggle. -

I've been reading this forum for six months. I can relate to almost everyone. The feelings you are experiencing are completely normal. However you are doing yourself a disservice and potentially putting your new tummy at risk. As boring and frustrating as the first few weeks are, they will pass but you have to stick to your plan!

So, what's the story behind "no sugar"?
kimpossible67 replied to Andy810's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In my opinion, sugar (refined) causes cravings. I don't have dumping syndrome but I am as sugar free as possible, because it causes cravings for me. On a side note I DID have a few sweet drinks for the first time for my six month anniversary. My stomach hasn't been right since. No more. -
ME ME ME!!!

Back to basics my dear and then onward and upwards from there! You'll be fine. This forum has covered every feeling I've EVER had! I wish I had gotten the app pre-surgery. Best of luck. A 10 lb gain is nothing really.

Well you've already got an angry, wounded stomach...I don't know if I'd risk it so soon. I've HEARD horror stories about bariatric patients that go from being a eater to a drinker. With that said, my 6 mths is next week and I'm going to try a little wine tomorrow.

I don't have lupus but I have ms (multiple sclerosis). Never an issue with my surgeon. Best of luck and I'm hoping you are feeling good.

Hair loss not what I expected
kimpossible67 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 6 months out. I started losing some hair at month 5. I am disabled so I can go 3 days without washing. I rarely (once a month) blow dry, I use no products nor do I straighten, color or curl. So far the hair loss is manageable. I was on a med for several years and lost a lot of hair. I didn't realize it was the cause until I stopped taking it. This in comparison is nothing. -
Having a Gastric Sleeve IS EXHAUSTING!
kimpossible67 replied to gregthegroove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a terrible time until month 3. It finally fell into place. The process was exactly like a full time job. That and I was sick to my stomach for 3 months. I didn't want anything. One day it just all clicked out of the blue and now I'm doing what I should. Frustrating was a utter understatement. I may slap the person who says this was the easy way out. -
What's A High Protein Drink?
kimpossible67 replied to firstday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try contacting the company. I live in a very small town...actually a village. I was more than happy with paying $2.29 each until lo and behold my grocer started carrying them at $1.79 each. I try to leave one or two behind because there are a couple of others that buy them too. Best protein drink EVER! Shamrock farms is the name on the bottle. Hope they catch one. -
What's A High Protein Drink?
kimpossible67 replied to firstday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've discovered Rockin' Refuel. My small town is buying them as fast as the get them in the store. Ours are chocolate and 30 grams protein in a 12 oz bottle, sold individually. Even my very finicky mom. doesn't like anything new LOVES them! -
I hit 80 lbs today!!! My head has shrunk. My youngest graduated Army bootcamp today 9-11 and my army mom hat kept falling in my face. My shoes are too big. I'm throwing away underwear...now I'm having my current ones that I had to lose 80 lbs to get in, I have to pull up all the time. I don't want to keep buying new ones to grow out of in a month. HELP!!!

That is SO awesome! I had a similar situation minus a baby and boyfriend (he sounds GREAT btw, kudos!). It also took me from '07 to '14 to commit. Proud of you!!!

Summer cold and feeling yucky
kimpossible67 replied to Zane's Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine has been hanging on almost a month. Started with upper resp. Then went to my lungs with this horrible cough. I'm not so sure I don't have that bad virus going around. I'm not eating right, when I'm starving and my stomach turns on me, then I eat something protein. Really don't care. I'm sipping drinks but it's not amounting to much. Pretty much living on protein drinks or cheese/cottage. I went to urgent care, they gave me antibiotics but they are doing nothing. Just try to get your fluids in if nothing else. I hope you feel better.
