    Excess Saliva (sliming?)

I thankfully have never experienced that! If I eat a bite too many it just plain comes back up.
  2. My stomach doesn't growl hungry it just gets the nauseous, I better feed it and soon feeling.

Size 6 and still "overweight" ?

Just the medias way of screwing with you. I heard today about a size 8 model who was told she's too fat to model, they want her to lose 15 lbs. ridiculous what society DEMANDS is normal!
  4. kimpossible67

    Stalling!

Look at the bright side...you could have gained 14 pounds! Grab 2 gallons of milk and go for a walk. Notice how heavy 14 pounds is.

    Just sleeved

Once the pain ceases you'll realize quickly that this is a full time job. Trying to get in fluids is HARD let alone protein. Do your best and realize you are not alone. The first few months are frustrating but it all works itself out!
  6. kimpossible67

    Should I be worried?

From what you posted switch it around, eat your protein first then your carbs. You won't have enough room for the carbs. You need the protein more than ever.

    Just sleeved

WOOOWHOOO! Congratulations! Expect some rocky roads, nutrition and fluid requirements may be rough at first but you'll adjust.
  8. I was dx with MS in 2007. It's relapsing remitting. I've been mostly stable. It's terribly scary at first but you adjust. It isn't a death sentence. You will be okay.

    Can we talk pre-op testing?

You have to drink yucky stuff after surgery for a leak test too. Yay!
  10. kimpossible67

    Your choice.

Honestly, at the seminar the dr said we could eat anything after the sleeve. That's what got my interest. I didn't go thru with that surgeon. I went to the Barix clinic where they told me honestly what to expect. I finally realized I didn't want to eat everything, I wanted to do it right. I wasn't too hyped about the malabsorption and re routing the works but if I didn't have the choice of the sleeve I was desperate enough to take the bypass. I'm thrilled I have the sleeve. Good luck with your decision. I totally agree you can go from a sleeve to a bypass.

    A year ago this time

I remember buying the huge bag of Halloween candy, the one that has tootsie rolls and dots? Must weigh about three pounds. I paid ten bucks for it. I ate it all night, every night while I was trying to sleep. I'd wake up with unswallowed candy in my mouth. Finished those off and bought a bag of the good mini candy bars again for Halloween. Did the same thing. My breaking point was in January when I awoke one night with my hand stuck in a bag of trail mix (the kind w the chocolate). I guess what I'm getting at is you can change. You can reprogram your brain to not live to eat. My surgery was April 7, of this year. 90 lbs down. Watching others engulf anything and everything (mindless eating) kinda grosses me out. The good news is Halloween candy will be a lot cheaper this year!!!

    Favorite foods post op?

I make a large pot of chili that the dog and I share all week once a month. I use ground round, black beans, jalapeños and top it with a slice of pepper jack cheese plus all the other ingred. She gets what I can't eat in her dish. I call her my "hot dog" because she likes my very spicy chili.

    Alcohol intake

So I drank on my 6 mth anniversary. First time. I'm usually sugar free but decide to have some sugary drinks. I was giggling haha but surprisingly didn't get drunk and we were downing shots of tequila rose (which tastes like shit post-op) pretty well. I started to get a headache during the drinking. The next 3-4 days I was so sick I couldn't eat or drink, my head and stomach hated me. No more of that. I have however a couple of times had a very tiny glass of red wine with no problems.

    Feet!

I put on a pair of socks yesterday that are about ten years old. The no show type? There was probably a half inch from the back of my foot to the sock loose! My shoes are sloppy but broke in and ugly and comfortable. I hate breaking in new shoes. Crocs are my fav. I bought the orange Chef Mario Batelli crocs and they are pretty loose. For me, I paid a lot for them so I'm wearing the cussing things!!!

    Honest thoughts before my surgery

Happy life changing day! It's going to take some time and frustration to get everything worked out but it comes together eventually. We've ALL been there. Attitude is EVERYTHING! When I woke up I basically couldn't wipe the stupid grin off of my face. Reach out to us with any questions. I found this forum to be such a relief. I could relate to so many. Happy Days!!!

    Why is Bread so Bad?

They carry a product in the deli section (or ask manager to order) called Flatout. They come in low carb and are wraps, round and flat like a tortilla. They are very good. I like the low carb Italian one.

I was dazed and confused for the first 3 months! It gets easier, you get in a routine.

How did you settle on a goal?

It really doesn't matter to me. I know that's odd but I'll know it when I see it I guess!
  23. I'm not really sure. Mine has picked up speed. I've lost almost 30 lbs since the end of July for a total of 90 in six months.
