  1. I too had an easy time with regards to recovery. I also can eat more than many. I listen to my stomach and go (stop) from there. Just one bite to many and it returns. My difficult days were learning to eat and drink. It took me 3 months to get a grip. Sooo frustrating. One month I could barely get anything down I was always sick to my stomach! It eventually passed and it finally came together.

    Post-Op Frustration. HELP!

I don't drive so I walk everywhere. Here's something to help you put 21 lbs lost into perspective. Go to the grocery store and buy 2 10 lb sacks of potatoes. Then walk with them for a mile. Get back to me on how that feels! It feels horrible!!! You're doing just great!

    Subway

I sometimes get a footlong tuna sub with lots of veggies at Subway. It's quite a few meals but it gets soggy quick and my boxer is more than happy to eat soggy tuna. SOOO, I had a brain fart the other day. I wondered if explained my situation, would they accommodate me. They kindly did. [ attachment=49454:ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1415883600.078824.jpg]

    Subway

Well I ended up using less than half of the bread. I turned my side veggies into a salad and ate the tuna with a spoon! How does the unwich do in the refrigerator? Can you get days worth of meals with it? Does the lettuce stay good?

    Telling about surgery

It's nice to use our experiences with the sleeve to help others. Not many are familiar with the sleeve. They are totally intrigued with the process. I always say I've had bariatric surgery or the sleeve. I remember the first informational meeting I attended for myself. I had been through the process with my ex, he had bypass done in '07. I was stunned when the surgeon brought up the sleeve! I was not liking either of my choices (band or bypass) but knew if I was to go through with it, it would be bypass. He's telling about this new procedure the sleeve, my arms shoots in the air with many questions. It was perfect. I had to wait a long time because my insurance wasn't covering the surgery, I waited it out. Impatiently lol. It was totally worth it. I also went to 3 different surgeons before picking Barix Clinic.
  7. I used to go into thrift or consignment stores to find the biggest thing possible. I went to a consignment shop and everything in plus size and all too big. I ended up looking on a normal rack that just had x large items. They fit! I even got into a jacket that was a 14-16! Unheard of for me. It was tight but I got into it!!! I never wanted to wear more fitted clothes. I was constantly covering up my weight. It feels pretty awesome to wear something that is more form fitting.

    Thin hair

When my hair was really long last week before I cut it short, it was falling out. Now it isn't. Could it be from the weight of the hair causing loss? Idk.

    Shocking clothes shopping

Yes, it's weird how this surgery has redistributed my weight. I weigh much more than I look. At the weight I am (219) I shouldn't be out of the 2 X's really. I'm consistently in a 18 so stuffing into a 14-16 at 219 was pretty freaking awesome. To the Yoga pants poster. I bought a pair of Levi skinny jeans at Kohl's for $20. They are stretch and make your legs look really small. Try them!

    Subway

I have the card however I'm the type who has no issue with eating the same leftovers for days. This worked out perfectly for me. I cut off 2 1/2 inches of bread and make a tiny sub. I still peel off the thick part of the bread for the dog. I don't consider eating at subway eating out. My experiences with eating at restaurants is too much sodium or sugar. I am no sugar, low sodium. Subway works well for me.

    My Dog loves me!

    Boxers are unbelievably strong.
  13. No one is more excited at my weightloss and energy than my 8 1/2 year old boxer, Sadie. She gets to take me on walks! I don't even have to say walk in the morning she just pleads with her big brown sappy boxer eyes until she motivates me. I get out her halti (anti pull collar) and leash and she just about comes undone. It's adorable. Then when we get home I check our progress on my fitbit. Yay!!!

    My Dog loves me!

They do not like halti's! But for their safety when they are pullers, it's necessary. I used one on my very hyper 100 lb plus lab (who at 11 was still hyper). My boxer is used to it but she still shakes her head trying to get it off. Try treats and praise as you put it on, on the walk, etc. they won't pull for long before they get the idea. I was amazed what it did for my lab. Good luck! Keep at it.

How to deal with fat friends

My weight loss is due to eating four bites of food for a meal, walking and the removal of 85% of my stomach. I couldn't do the former without the later.

    Telling about surgery

Green eyes, I meant no disrespect and if you feel I did I sincerely apologize. It's just such a visual, in your face, quicker than lightening way of losing weight. I've been on every diet as we all have and never did I lose so quickly as I have with the sleeve. While it seems we are being private, people aren't stupid. Only one thing causes such rapid weight loss and that is surgery. And that is just MY opinion.
  18. Awww geez and one more thing...be aware as your weight drops it MAY effect your meds. I had to have my lamictal dosage reduced.
  19. I take 400 mg of Seroquel, 2 mg xanax (that's the absolute worst thing to swallow) Prozac and lamictal. The sq I broke in half at first because they are so hard a crusher wouldn't work. I take them all now at once. Have since a it a month n a half out. I was worried because I was also stable. The surgeon wouldn't do the surgery if you were not able to take life saving meds. And we all know as bp's they ARE a lifesaver.

    Telling about surgery

There's one telltale sign of bariatric surgery I've picked up on. The neck. From the rapid weight loss the neck tends to tell the tale. The chins end up going first!

    Telling about surgery

Exactly, mentoring. I have MS, I've shared that also, I don't dwell on it or whine about it but I have helped several people cope because I choose to be open. I also am open about depression, again I help others. Am I looking for validation? No. My personality is to help others even when I'm suffering. So if my experiences can help just ONE person, I'm doing what I was put on this earth to do. I'm not a show off, and I'm not cocky. I'm just very very grateful to have been given these situations in life so I might help someone else.

How to deal with fat friends

Besides, I find it insulting when you know someone has had it yet claims its from diet and exercise! It's nothing to be ashamed of!!!

How to deal with fat friends

I think it's best to be honest. You never know the positive impact your journey may have on someone else!
