Telling about surgery
kimpossible67 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Most everyone made some great points. I realized by reading these posts, there's one common denominator, y'all have jobs. Not so sure I wouldn't agree to keep it quiet in those circumstances. I am disabled and I don't work. My situation is much different then the rest of you. I never meant to start such an explosive thread. I apologize for all the upheaval. I respect everyone's wishes. I was only trying to share mine. I hope you all have a wonderful day and will let this go. This is no way to represent this most helpful board/app. Again, I apologize -
I went to an open house a few months post-op. It amazed and kinda revolted me watching people eat plate after plate of food. Then the plate of try one of everything desserts. I bet they ate for an hour straight. I call it mindless eating. I honestly didn't know what to do with my hands.

When was your second stall?
kimpossible67 replied to Sunnyskies2283's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never had the 3 week stall and I don't understand why not. I've had a few minor stalls, 1 1/2 weeks at a standstill so far. One I think around month six. I review what I've been eating, paying attention if I've had too much sodium. Sodium is always the culprit for me. I cut back and down the scales go. -
1 month post op and kind of struggling

Are you eating too fast? Are you giving it time for food to make it to your sleeve before you swallow another bite? I can feel my food food travel down and hit my sleeve. It hasn't happened often but there's been a few times I took one too many bites and it came up. Listen to your body. Best of luck! -
I'm pretty sure the turkey neck is temporary. My ex had bypass in 2007 and it's no longer noticeable. He was a big guy, 405 at surgery and in his late forties. I'm just really happy to see that dowagers hump under the back of my head and neck is disappearing!!! That's as bad as triple chins! This may sound odd but I like my turkey neck, lol.

Is there anyone out there in sleeve world that was not put on a liquid diet preop? I just had to have clear liquids the day before. I also didn't have a drain...what is that for?

Need soup suggestions

Thanks for all your great suggestions! I really love the Pasta e fagulle recipe. That's one of my favorites at Olive Garden! -
I was on a morphine pump. Sent home with oxycodone which I only took around 4.

I'm bipolar ... if there's anyone out there that could tell me how to take my meds
kimpossible67 replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PLEASE be careful! I hope you have observant support around you that can recognize the signs. I wouldn't dare go off my meds. But then I take a lot to keep me stable too. Just please be cautious! -

No liquid diet no drain

She did. After the got it healed she had a procedure to take off that "apron" before doing the actual tummy tuck. -
My thighs! My poor thighs! They've boughten the farm! My belly is just as I expected it to be, loosey goosey but my thighs are a bit scary, all these little wrinkled folds. I totally expected my overly huge upper arms to fall victim but they surprisingly are doing well. Oh well, I knew going in I'd have this issue. I'd rather see loose skin than fat any day.

Need soup suggestions
kimpossible67 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like my soups homemade so I can control the sodium. I don't care for any variation of chili as mine is really tasty And I make it on average at least once a month to last a week. To it I add a slice of pepper jack cheese and parm. I'm thinking of making Pasta E Fagulle, a copycat of Olive Garden. -
You know that hump at the neck that older people get? At 312 I had a doozy. I figured it would never disappear. It's going away!!!

My waist is shrinking but the measuring tape!
kimpossible67 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is ticking me off! Yes, I know it's usually the scale that we're at odds with. I can see an actual waist. Back fat is disappearing but I've lost one silly inch in months. I should clarify I have lost almost a foot of waist. But it really shows now. Stupid measuring tape is going to find its way to a land fill!!! -
I had a manic weekend followed the next day by depression and hopelessness. First time since surgery and I'm supposed to be "stable." Things started to take a turn for the worse but I got it together with some close friends and they got me through. I was in such a rage.

I thought they were permanent! Joy to found they do go away!

I offer you all my respect and my thanks!

It takes a while to adjust. I believe those that compare it to a full time job! You've taken the steps to brave surgery, not an easy decision. Good for you! Congratulations! -
Are you drinking enough to keep up with the amount of protein? I struggle to get down my 64 oz, lol.
-
It's a huge endeavor! Like anything, it takes time. Just concentrate on your food and drink and recovery. This too shall pass.

I don't understand how I can tolerate tuna but no other seafood. I have no issues with canned tuna...Strange!
