Telling about surgery
kimpossible67 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Enough already! Can we just let this thread die??? Ugh so sorry I started it in the first place! I had no idea how offensive it turned out to be. Let's just all agree we are grateful for this wonderful tool and this great forum meant to SUPPORT EACH OTHER! -
Ahhh there IS another sugar free, not afraid of a little fat person out there!

I refuse to give up my 14 year old 2x faded brown hooded carrhart coat with a hood. I'm pretty much in a xl but I'm a country girl (pink camo is MY style lol) and from Michigan. I care next to nothing about being fashionable...I want to be WARM! Underneath my huge coat I can get on a tee, a sweatshirt, a hoodie and I still freeze. I do have a dress coat but it has no hood. Useless

3 meals a day??? Wow! I was told to eat every 2-2 1/2 hours. -
We have a wonderful consignment shop. They have beautiful coats for $24.00. I also have bought them at thrift stores. Good luck with your surgery!!!

I gave up 25 years, 3 kids ago! Between the stretch marks, the gallbladder scars and the c sections AND the sleeve...it's pointless, lol. Plus I'll have a tummy tuck scar eventually too. Just battle wounds. I don't view them as gross, it's just a visual map of my life.

I tried 3 shrimp, made me nauseous. Last week had half a piece of Salmon, I was sick for days. Still hadn't bought a clue. So I had half a piece of cod on Friday (fish n chips?). I'm still miserable. Bloated, the runs, nauseous, headache, hot flashes. Ugh. Buh bye seafood. 8 mths post-op.

Learning the hard way

I'm grateful I can handle all beef. I will gladly trade that for fish and seafood. I'm sorry it doesn't work for you -
I have some nasty dark leg scars from a fall. A friend who is a PT says rub in cocoa butter and vitamin e. He says it will take awhile but it works!
-
Morning after. Then I was brought "food."...jello, broth, Popsicle, etc.
-
Wow! I'm in the 100 lb almost lost stretch. You look just gorgeous...Good for YOU!

My surgeon took 85% but I've read others who have had less taken out. Is there any sleever's that had more than 85% removed?

Oh so proud of you!!! Oh happy day! Congratulations

Make your own! Davinci syrups sell every sugar free syrup there is. I worked in a coffe shop and came up with lots of ideas for low carb options. One in particular I was famous in a small town for, lol. I called it better than sex. It was an iced coffee with heavy cream (you could use skim, almond, etc). I put that and a shot of sugar free chocolate, a packet of sugar free hot chocolate and a tablespoon of Peanut Butter in a blender that crushes ice. Use as much Fluid as necessary to get it to iced coffee texture. I topped it with whip and drizzled it with Sugar Free Chocolate. This was 10 years ago when Atkins was getting big. To this day 8 mths out, I still do my variations of Atkins. I don't worry about fat. I learned when you buy most products that are low or fat free, they often replace the fat with sugar. My body and sugar do not need to be in the same place.

Telling about surgery

Well as the one that started this train wreck of a thread, I had my first "slight" last night. A girl I went to HS with came for a visit. She was heavy in school but pretty normal size now. She commented that being fat is just mental and all you have to do is change your attitude and eat less. She quickly added"except for you." I wasn't insulted and I don't think she meant how she came across, like it's just a switch we can turn off. We never discussed weight the rest of the night or my surgery. I just enjoyed crossing my legs. Lol. -
What are your surgeons policies on performing them? Mine is one year out or at least 100 lbs. my insurance covers the tummy tuck. To those who've had the TT is it bad/painful? Does it make a difference??? Experiences needed. Thanks!

It gets better. Your body has been put through a massive over haul. It's too bad you can't have more time off to rest and adjust. Keep telling yourself it gets better. Soon you will be telling the distraught newbies your journey. It's not fun but it's totally worth it.

I spent my entire 2 nd month nauseated. EVERYTHING felt like I'd swallowed wet cement. It was the pits. I swear the day I got a script for nausea, it stopped. The first 3 months for me were not enjoyable BUT...it WILL get better, trust us on that, okay?

Yup! Thanks! -
I love leftovers. I often make a pot of chili and eat it through the week (the dog gets her share). Vegetable soup with beef, beef stew, chicken noodle soup, stuffed pepper soup, cabbage soup. I love SOUP! Any suggestions for high protein, good carb soup ideas? Nothing with mushrooms! I use lots of ground round/sirloin. I want it to last a week. Please help get me out of my rut!!!

They will give you anti nausea meds by script. I pretty much was you. It took all of 3 months to get it together! It WILL fall in place! Don't mess around with depression talk to medical staff about you're mood change, please. I wish you the best
