Oh honey, I "thought" I was so well prepared for post op...I was a moron. It took me three MONTHS to get it together, lol. It fell into place eventually. I've had a loss I'm happy with at almost 8 mths. Hang in there.

I've had gallstones (from hell) and had it removed. My pain never went around to my back. It stayed right at my diaphragm. Omg does it hurt! I had little pain from the sleeve surgery and no gas. However around the time out that you are, I experienced this weird pain/pressure in my diaphragm. I figure it was trapped gas. It went away. Hope you're feeling better!

I too can not drink enough. I have MS which makes for a spastic bladder. I've trained myself to drink very little to stop the spasms especially at night. I've been forcing myself to drink more. I've been drinking a lot of coffee and sf chai tea. I looked into coffee being dehydrating and from what I read if you really overdue it, it can be. So with that, I feel you!

Can you see if there is a bariatric support group in your area?

Psychiatric Evaluation
kimpossible67 replied to laurenella82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm bipolar and I had to see a therapist for months before she would sign a recommendation for surgery. They wanted to be sure I was stable and compliant with my meds. Not a bariatric therapist, I regular one. -
I can't tolerate peanuts because my gallbladder is gone but I can eat PB...go figure. Roasted almonds are a staple for me. Hopefully you can still enjoy those seeds and nuts!

I'm making an old favorite with a new ingr. I don't dare try it. I will have to rely on others opinions to if they are a success. -
Drinking with a straw
kimpossible67 replied to alyssadietrch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told no straws but post op I called the nutritionist and she said as long as I didn't get gassy straws were fine. -
What song reminds you of your journey?

Mine is definitely "It's all about the bass." I'm sure many of us can relate to that song. -
How To Tell What Size Body Frame You Are
kimpossible67 replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I've lost in my arms and wrists. That said, I can feel the bones in my wrist and they're small. So I don't know if that's accurate or not but I'm judging by the size of the bones that can be felt. I know when I was 18 I had a small frame, does that change with being obese? -
Occasional Endless Pit
kimpossible67 replied to RyanSleeve2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I get like that too. And it probably has to do with fluids, something I don't get enough of. -
My entire 2nd month was nothing but nausea. It passed eventually. I had a lot of nausea post op in the hospital as well.

I am 8 mths post op. I remember asking how bad it would hurt on this board. I've had abdominal surgeries and a scope surgery. I wanted to know how similar it was to those. I was surprised to get the responses as I was preparing for the worst. I got a lot of "like menstrual cramps" responses. I'm curious as to how many of you had like a c section or a gallbladder surgery before the sleeve and how did the pain rate in comparison?

Questions about post op pain
kimpossible67 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess the difference between c section pain and VGS surgery is...you have a baby to cuddle to keep you occupied from the pain, right?! There's nothing to cuddle after VGS! -
Questions about post op pain
kimpossible67 replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My c-sections ran vertically, cut thru the belly button down. I thought the gallbladder removal recovery was way worse than the sleeve. I woke up post op from the sleeve with some discomfort where the stomach was removed. No gas troubles but major nausea! I never felt the "I feel like I just did 4,000 sit ups" muscular pain. Alas my recovery didn't go to hell until the car ride home (2 hours) and the 3 months following. I was overwhelmed with the changes. What things I thought were going to be easy turned out not so much. I think it's important to include in our responses to those curious about pain post op, that we consider asking if they've had any abdominal surgeries previously. It's a good indicator what you may experience. -
I've read so many posts about sleevers not wishing to tell anyone about their surgery and being offended when they ask. I've been extremely open. Through testing everyone knew every step I was taking. I'm not ashamed. In fact I've inspired many. My facebook is filled with friends and family who ALL support me. They cheer at my success and beg for more pictures. It's been a very positive decision. I've never had anyone say anything even remotely unkind. I got 14 inches of hair cut off and I told the hairstylist about my surgery. She completely stopped what she was doing and asked me to tell her about it as she was considering the band or the bypass. She had never heard of the sleeve. I believe my openness has helped open some doors for several people. Even my 13 yr old nephew was questioning the dynamics of the surgery and how I eat now. Everyone makes a personal decision to tell/not tell. I just wanted to share how my decision has effected my journey.

That is a great story! Best of luck on your upcoming surgery! That sounds like it was ghastly what you went thru. So happy for you that you not only got thru it but are successful.

These are mine when I hit the cement last summer. Coconut oil would fade these???

Once I passed the leak test the day after surgery I knew the surgeon had done his job. It was now up to me to baby my stomach for the next four months so I didn't cause a leak. I don't know the statistics either but it was never an issue for me. I was confident in my surgeon. Good luck on your decision. My ex was 405 lbs 6'3" the day of surgery. He took up a doorway (loved him like that btw). He had bypass and did great.

It's delicious! Make sure it's UNrefined organic. I put it in coffee.

Why is my Pre-op diet so long?
kimpossible67 replied to laurenella82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ouch! They want to shrink your liver which due to obesity gets fatty so they can do it laparoscopically. So I've been told. I feel for you!!! -
I didn't have to do a pre-op diet but I wasn't allowed to gain x amount either. I just did day before clear liquids.
