There is a really great group I found on Facebook called Gastric Sleevers Australia. There are some really nice and helpful people there. You should check it out.

I paid with an early release of my super. We were private patients in a public hospital.

Sydney peeps! Who was your surgeon?

Liquid phase is ok. I'm just glad to have something in my mouth. It is really important to keep your fluids up and you can find some inventive ways. At the moment I an loving 4 tbs pumpkin soup mixed with 4 tbs low fat milk. I am craving food but it could be because of Christmas. lol.

Sydney peeps! Who was your surgeon?

I was just sleeved by Dr Taylor last Tuesday 18/12/12. He and his team have all been great. Even the hospital staff said how impressed they were with how prepared all his patients are.

    Sydney Gal Waiting On Surgery.

Hi there. My Husband and I are both seeing Dr Craig Taylor. We were both sleeved last Tuesday 18/12/12 also at concord hospital. He and his team are all really great. The last 2 days at home have been difficult with pain (not unbearable) and restrictions with movement but I an glad for our journey so far. My hubbie has lost 12kg so far and I have lost 9kg. The pre op diet was 2 weeks of Optifast and 2 cups of veggies from a list given by the dietitian. The staff at concord were also friendly and caring. All the best with your journey.

What Was The 1St Week Post Op Like?

Thank you for sharing. I will try and prepare as much as I can so we are both ok on our own when we get home.
  8. I am booked in for my surgery in December and I am just wanting to hear about your experiences the first few days after the surgery. My husband and I decided to have the op on the same day and I'm wondering if we will be ok to take care of ourselves.

    3 Months Post-Op

Congratulations. One of my main reasons for getting the surgery is so I can come off my meds. Still 6 weeks out and it is stories like yours that keep me motivated. Thank you.

    Considering Taking The Plunge

I am booked in for surgery with Dr Taylor in December. Not worried about the pain or diet so much as anxious about the whole thing. I made the choice for my health and my future that's all I'm thinking about right now. I also have a work college who has Dr Taylor as her surgeon and she is really happy.
  13. 3 weeks ago I express posted my 'release of supperannuation on compassionate medical grounds' forms to DHS for approval. Within a week and a half I received my approval letter. The next day I express posted the application form for my super fund along with my approval letter to my super fund. I received the full amount for my surgery in my bank account this morning. The whole approval and release (I'm my case) took just over 3 weeks. I hope other sleevers have as much luck with it as I did.

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Hi all. I am new to the site. I have just decided to have the sleeve surgery. All your stories have been an inspiration and it seems like you are all happy with your decision. I had my initial appointment at the OClinic in Sydney on Monday and now I am waiting for a reply from DHS about accessing my super. Now I have made the decision to have the sleeve surgery it seems like it can't come quick enough. It took me about 3 years to make the decision and now I feel like I have waisted a lot of time. I would like to know if anyone has had a change in medical conditions since surgery, particularly PCOS and diabetes?
