Reflux: What Do You Take To Tame The Burn?
butter-fly replied to PJ_Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been struggling with heartburn, too. I'm 2 months out. How long will this awful heartburn continue? Forever? -
I think your body is in shock and catching up. Don't worry.

You can consider going to Mexico? Surgery is a fraction of the cost in Mexico compared to the US and the quality of care is awesome.

What Did You Take With You To Mexico?
butter-fly replied to Lollyx3's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I would get a tank to bring instead of a bra. Could be a stretchy one - that holds your skin tight and actually feels good - no jiggling of your belly. If you have a binder from a previous stomach surgery, that would feel good, too. I brought a laptop but never once used it. I became so friendly with the other girls getting sleeved that we kept each other company. If we weren't talking, I was sleeping. The drugs realllly knock you out. Bring one pair of pants, 2 shirts, and comfy Jammie's. I brought my crocks and was glad I did. I also brought a snugly robe. Except for minimal toiletries, that's it! -
Sleeved on 10/10. The time after surgery I was pretty loopy and had minimal pain. Now it's 1 1/2 days later and I'm In the hotel recouperating and feeling great! I have totally bonded with the 3 other girls who sleeved the same time. We're all doing well.

Anyone Have Any Complications Going To Mexico For Surgery
butter-fly replied to mbabercrombie's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm in the hospital pre op and so far have been quite pleased w everything. One of the ladies with me (we just met but both getting sleeved today), her husband was actually the one who researched and chose the surgery and company to go with. I felt that said a lot. -
Hello Sleeve Friends, Exactly 2 weeks post op I will be driving 10 hours to get together with close family and friends for my mother's memorial service. I'm wondering what I should anticipate in terms of pain/discomfort? Will I still have a bloated belly 2 weeks out? Will I have any noticable weight loss by then? What was your experience 2 weeks out?

"wls Is Not What God Intended..."

Pipulla gave you the same verse I was going to. Personally, I have unintionally worshipped food for far too long. I have thought about every meal, obsessed over the scale, perused recipes, wasted $$ on failed diets, read books, and on and on and on with food, more so than my God. I have been deeply convicted of this. My heart has been more focused on food and my weight for years. It's like a love affair - I think about my weight and my size all the time, I plan my next diet just to fail at it and feel badly about myself. Food, and diets are my idol. If I have a good day with my diet than I feel good about myself. If I have a bad day with it, then bad about myself. I have gotten my self esteem more from my wieght than from God for years. This is not how He wants us to live nor where he wants us to gain our identity from. Food and my obsession with it and my weight is the biggest sin in my life. God commands that we love Him first and have no idols before him, and if something causes us to sin, we are to flee from it. Or as Pipulla stated, if our right eye causes us to sin, we are to cut it out. I believe that this surgery will help me get rid of this idol. I will no longer be distracted by food. I will eat to live, not live to eat. God intended food to be sustinance for life, not the center of all enjoyment. I have had total peace since I decided to have this surgery. I personally feel that I am doing in obediance to Him. Now that said, that's me. If you DON'T have a peace about it, or if this surgery will cause you to obsess more, than carefully consider if it is God's will for you. I totally appreciate your friends thought process and where she is coming from, but she probably doesn't understand the sin and idol that food is in your life. God bless. -

I Stink At My Pre-Op Diet! Does This Mean I'm Going To Fail?
butter-fly posted a topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I'm 200 lbs and have been trying to do the pre-op diet for over a week now. I do well for a few days -then I blow it! I'm still at the same weight as when I started. Anyone else have this problem? Is this indicative of how I will do post-sleeve? 6 days till surgery and frustrated with myself! -

stickks, just curious, did you go through an agency/coordinator? How was your expereince otherwise? -
Okay, so my pre-op diet is 1 Protein shake for Breakfast, 1 for lunch, and a salad with protein for dinner - additional shake if needed. If I get hungry in the middle, is it okay to drink broth or eat green veggies to curb the appitite?

I am considering surgery in Mexico but scared to death about possible complications after I get home. If you had your surgery in Mexico and had complications, can you please share your story? Also on who your doctor was and what they did upon hearing of your complication.

Anyone have issues wearing a bra after surgery? I have heard some say that the incisions are right on the bra line making this painful. I'm wondering how dr. Lopez and his wife do it. -
