I originally had my surgery 03/19/2012 since then I've lost 63 lbs. Last month I was having a lot of vomiting and heartburn so my Dr told me to get an xray done, sure enough my band slipped significantly low he told me I needed emergency surgery in order to stop a perforation from happening but he only released my band via 3 openings and that same day right after the surgery I was@ Wal-Mart getting things needed for my home. On 09/12/12 I got my band re repositioned and now I feel sooo weak weaker ( I believe) then when I got it done back in March. Ugh! I don't want to think as this as a wrong choice to get this to begin with. So confused and weak its ridiculous.

Definitely sounds like a slip. I had it and I couldn't stop the heartburn or the d act that even something as a teaspoon if water made me vomit

I've become a burping machine ( lol ) after my surgery. Bur I'd rather burp rather then being stuck with horrific gasses in my belly ( which I'm going through now after my re replacement surgery last week) I had gurgling for about 5 months after my surgery the 1st time and u asked my Dr and he said it was perfectly normal

Thank u guys. Yes its really awful. I think that what caused the slip was that I had gotten a band adjustment 1 or 2 weeks prior getting my food changed by my nutritionist. I'm guessing that just switching to more solid foods like tuna or chicken salads did it for me right after the adjustment. By the time that my band slipped I already had 6.5 cc's in my band at first ( 1st 2wks) I felt fine but then I started to notice how my food was getting stuck little by little and more often so thats when started to find relief in vomiting causing the slip

Hey guys. I'm 29 yrs old and I had my band put in March 19,2012. Went into surgery 273lbs and went into surgery yesterday morning 209lbs. My hubby says that I should've just taken off my band but HELLO!? I've lost 64lbs in 5 months and not only that I paid $14k cash to get rid of my investment just like. But my main concern is weight gain, I weighed myself 2day and I weigh 8 more then yesterday. And I've gotta wait a whole month and a half before getting my band re placed properly.

Well I'd been throwing up for about to weeks. Didn't think much of it because I'd throw up thick spit and whatever I tried to get down, no pain just relief. BUT this weekend was the one that did it for me, I had 2 scoops of rice and I immediately started to vomit like I usually did but I didn't feel any type of relief this time. I continued to vomit until I just started to vomit acidic tasting black gunk or coffee grounds like my Dr referred to it which was a "none panicky way" of telling me that it was blood. So he made me go get an xray and take it to his office and showed how my band was waaay off from where it was originally and told me he had to operate in 48 hrs or less so I wouldn't get a perforated stomach which would be even worse. So he empties my band as much as he could and I got surgery 2 days ago ( feeling great btw) to loosen the band all the way and in about a month & 1/2 when all my swelling goes completely down I go back to get my band placed properly. I can't wait.

oh, thanks. i didnt even think about the IV or the meds i´ve been thinking about what to do for the next month 1/2 though before i get my band re placed where it needs to be. i wouldnt wanna go through what ive gone through in the past week let alone the past few days, uggh! horrible. i really dont wanna gain a whole lot of weight cause i´m the kind of person that just thinking about food makes me gain weight

Well stay positive. I just had my band slip semi fixed and since it was an emergency operation I didn't even think about the "not waking up" part, but like the other reader said you did it once and you woke up fine so what's gonna make it any different now? just stay positive and everything will turn out well, goodluck 2 u.

Slipped Band... Will Mexico Reposition?
SiSSi_829 replied to Kalipso2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Please please please!! Don't go to Mexico! Get a 2nd 3rd and even 4th opinion w/ doctors here in the states. My doctor had 2 death ( unfortunately) from Mexico patients. I've heard not only those cases but worse Horror stories about bands and Mexico Drs
