I will not miss laying in bed wishing I didn't have to get up and find clothes for the day. I will not miss sweating like a pig. All the time! I will not miss assuming people are disgusted by me (whether they actually are or not). I will not miss running away from people with cameras, or ducking in the back. I will not miss wondering why my husband even loves me anymore, because I despise myself.

Wow, so many familiar stories here! Mine was a compilation of so many of them over the years, but the final straw was when I got my height measured at my doc appt. I've been 5'8" forever. Last year it was 5'7.5" (could have been a mistake, I thought), and this year it was 5'7". I'm shrinking vertically. At the same weight, I'm getting fatter and have a higher BMI every year!

Thanks so much for sharing! How did they do the leak test and how did you watch? And what happened when you overdid it?

I keep reading about people going for all kinds of tests. I'm sure some have to do with surgery clearance for existing problems, heart, pulmonary, etc. I'm assuming some are to document co-morbidities? My BMI is over 40 so I don't need to document the co-morbidities for my insurance. I asked my doc about the sleep study since I'm pretty sure I have sleep apnea but she said not to bother doing it now since the weight loss is probably going to fix it (never snored or had sleep issues before I got this heavy). Does anyone know if there are standard pre-op tests that everyone has to do? I'm just wondering what I'm in for and want to make sure I check all the boxes long before they are due!

Can't help but wonder why people are required to get mammograms and/or Gyno appts?

Most good bariatric centers know which hoops they have to jump through for which insurances. Talk to the coordinator there.

I am so excited I can barely stand it! A chance for a normal life! I'm downright giddy at the thought. There's actually a light somewhere in this dark tunnel through hell. Not a wide open door, but a hand reaching out to me to help. How could anyone not be excited?

You're not letting anyone down! We just want you to succeed and be proud of yourself! And it's never too late to keep trying.

So my face is full and people always think I'm younger than I am. I'm wondering if having a thinner face is really going to age me. Just one more reason I wish I had done this sooner. I'm expecting to lose weight and look like I'm 30 again because that's the last time I saw myself at a decent weight!

Check with your insurance company ASAP to see what their pre-reqs are. Even if you're not sure yet, you can at least get the ball rolling. Some take 6 months, some 3, some none at all.

Wow! That's amazing! I'm so embarrassed to ever have my picture taken. I can't wait to not dread it. We have no family pics or even pics of me in the last 10 or so years!

Can your husband go check on her? Clearly something is VERY wrong. Either she's having a mental breakdown of some sort or she's on drugs. Either way, she needs help. Good luck and God Bless. I know this has to be tearing you apart.
