pattivalvo reacted to beforever in Sleeve revised to switch. No weight loss
I had my surgery the same day as you. I’ve lost 25 pounds, but I was really sick with the flu for 3 weeks a month later. I’m still really tired all the time. Was wondering if you have any pain. My right side stays sore all the time, sometimes after I eat the pain is stabbing. It never goes away completely. I think my w/l has stopped, not sure, I don’t own a scale. My dr wants me to only weigh at his office, and concentrate only on my nutrition.

pattivalvo reacted to Strivingforbetter in #2 after Loop DS
I was revised from the Lap-Band to the traditional DS on June 9, 2017, and so far I've lost 57 pounds. As long as I keep my calories to around 1100 a day and make Protein a priority, I lose. So far, I haven't had a stall, although my weight loss has been slow at about 1.5 pounds a week. I know other DS patients have lost up to 3-4 pounds a week, but that hasn't been my story. You are only a few weeks post-op, so your body is getting used to all of the changes. Give it time. Log your food. Drink lots of Water. The malabsorption component of the DS is very powerful, so I am confident in time your losing will pick up. I log my food on My Fitness Pal and it helps me to keep my eating in check.

You're more than welcome. From what I have read and heard from a lot of revision people, their loss and is slow, but it does come off.

I am 5 yrs post op sleeve, and 3 mons post op SIPS. I am loosing really slow in pounds, but inches are coming off. I was around 282 on day of surgery, and now I am bouncing between 263-267. Been fluctuating like this forever it seems. Although both my bariatric team and my nut are happy with my progress.

I had a stall at 4 weeks for a month! That apparently is normal.

pattivalvo reacted to ebroms17 in Is this my new normal?
Sorry, that was unclear. I mean the sleeve is not as narrow as it would be if you just did a sleeve. So my stomach is sleeved, but bigger than your average sleeved stomach who doesn't also do the DS

Not a revision - did the loop DS + sleeve with Dr. Roslin at Lenox Hill - it's a smaller sleeve than you would get without the DS

I wouldnt worry too much - everyone is different and you could be holding on to a lot of Water weight after surgery. I'm just about 5 months out and I'm down 70 lbs - just hit onederland! I'm able to eat a bit more and my weight is slowing down but still moving in the right direction.

I just had this surgery two weeks ago. Seems to be working well. The only thing is I still have a lot of cramps but they told me it would go away in a couple weeks.

pattivalvo reacted to Postop in loop duodenal switch
I think you're referring to the SADI-S or SIPS procedure. That's a single loop DS.
The full or traditional DS is known as the Duodenal Switch or BPD/DS.

Has anyone heard of this modification to regular ds? It's also known as biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD-DS)?

pattivalvo reacted to Sweetmel7 in DS vs Loop DS
Hi. I had the one loop DS in December 2013. I went from 268 to 115. I have maintained my weight. I follow the food regimen of a person who had the traditional DS. I only eat Protein and i don't eat sugar, Pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes, bread, corn or anything high in carbs. So far so good.

pattivalvo reacted to nytx57 in Had Sleeve 3 yrs ago and now being offered DS - What to do?
I had the sleeve in 2015 only lost about 60 pounds. My surgeon wanted me to have the DS originally but I didn't want to. I had the revised DS that allows less malabsorption in March 2017. I am now down a total of 120 pounds. I loose about 15-20 pounds and then I stall for at least a month or more and them I start losing again. I have no regrets. i have gone from a size 4x to 1X so far. Be patient with your weight loss it will happen.
