Do You Feel Like You Did The Right Thing?
RhondaMarie replied to ThruThickandThin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I am a week out today & down 10 pounds!! My gas pain was in my right shoulder & just when I thought it was gone... WHAM! Back again. I can sleep on my sides & lay on my belly. I am doing the gym daily (WAY low impact). Everything is great! Well I got cocky & ate something I wasn't allowed. Learned very quickly what sliming and pb are all about. :-( Before the lectures start.... I didn't have something unhealthy... just too advanced. I am REALLY struggling to get enough calories in. I was looking for a boost. The moral of the story: once you turn the corner you will feel great! Learn from my story and fight the temptation to overdo!!

?? For Those Who Were Banded And Had A Hernia Repair
RhondaMarie replied to ufscrapper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely an ER situation. But for the record, I couldn't get a deep breath & have a low respiration rate anyway. I was sent home with a thing to practice every hour. The day after my surgery I got annoyed with it and remembered something. My pre-admission nurse had told me to take my asthma inhaler to the hospital in case I needed it. I did, but never took it out. I did two puffs on that & was "cured" within the hour. -

Anyone Getting Banded In September?
RhondaMarie replied to millsy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Down 7 pounds since last Tuesday! 35 total! Sounds great til you consider I have Twice that still to lose!! LOL -
Also keep in mind some of us had to wait 6 months and lose during that period. I sounds like you had <30 days!!! You have lost WAY MORE than I did my first two months! Keep you head up!!

I didn't get even steri strips this time. All four incisions were just glued. With my lap chole... I don't think the steris would have ever fell off!! Just loosen them a lil with each shower.

Anyone Getting Banded In September?
RhondaMarie replied to millsy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just relaxed Thursday & Friday. By Saturday I was struck with cabin fever. I got out for maybe 3 hours & it was perfect. I am going to start back to the gym tomorrow with east walking. -
Anyone Getting Banded In September?
RhondaMarie replied to millsy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember that we all heal differently. I just had a lap chole in March so I had a certain mindset about how I would feel & cope!! I killed it at the gym through the first week of pre-op diet... then it was kicking my butt so I dialed back a bit. I would swear it helped me recover quit!! -

My surgery was Wednesday as well. I didn't even fill my pain meds script. Just one dose of Tylenol Jr since I have been home. I have very little discomfort today. Indeed I forgot and climbed in bed with the bf & laid on my stomach! I could SO go back to wprk tomorrow & be fine with my desk job. There's too much red-tape to cut to come back early. -

Yeah ... I have been living in fear of blow outs since day 2! I am having my first protein shake now. It's been 40 minutes already. What I did was 6oz milk 2oz water four large ice cubes 1tbsp of peanut butter and 1 scoop of vanilla Pure Protein. I blended it up and made 7 1oz shots to work throughout the day & am sipping what's left. I felt like I was making bottles again, but since it is day 1... I am going to go easy. I gotta kill the diarrhea before it kills me!! -
That is still amazing!! Keep up the good work!!

Just Got Banded-Still Hospitalized
RhondaMarie replied to TRacquel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my best sleep propped up on the love seat. For me that's an old asthma trick. Then I just had to swing my legs around. Then I had a good base with my legs and the arm of the love seat. The bed is definitely a lot harder. -

I still have some trouble getting up more than anything. I kinda walk hunched over for a minute til I get it moving. -
Just Got Banded-Still Hospitalized
RhondaMarie replied to TRacquel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Wednesday & doc wanted me to stay since it was later in the afternoon. No additional tests just routine vitals. Just one dose of Tylenol in hospital & one dose at home. The gas was bad, but it is relieving. I can't get a deep breath in, but I have exercises to do. I am walking & resting... but I am kinda bored already. LOL -
In Need Of A Buddy, No Support At Home
RhondaMarie replied to MissE44's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You have bunches of understanding friends here!! I did finally tell my boyfriend a week ago. It went better than I could have imagined. I think it was b/c he knows I have been busting butt at the gym and watching what I eat for awhile now. I explained the health goals & my comorbids, told him I "should" be 160. He likes "thick" women and kinda scoffed at the 160, but I told him that was not my goal- which is 180. I told him a had a LONG way to go to get there. It isn't, for me, a failure if I don't get skinny. I just want to work on being closer to healthy. Bottom line, as it got closer I knew I couldn't live with the lie of omission - and trust me, I was determined to try up until 10 days ago. He was supportive of the preop diet & always supporting my hours at the gym. In the end I had to trust that he loves me & wants me healthy. My surgery is Wednesday, but I am going to continue here on the board. PLEASE feel free to DM me anytime!! -
248... surgery Wednesday I might not reach my goal of 240 next weekend, but still down 29lbs since March... hoping to hit the 30# mark for my "day of" weigh in.

Need Some Extra Support
RhondaMarie replied to Mad Captain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Unfortunately, weight loss can cause gallbladder stones. I found that out when mine went bad almost immediately when I hot back to the gym. In fact, that's what brought me to WLS. Cholecystitis is no joke. The pain beforehand is bad! And I made it through labor without meds!! TRY to compartmentalization what pain goes with what surgery and re-evaluate. Try to focus on what made you choose WLS. A pesky gallbladder doesn't change all the positives - tho I know it's rough. It is what it is... but it is what you make it!!! -
I finally told my boyfriend the missing pieces! He knew I was having a hiatal hernia repair, but I hadn't told him about the band. We were talking about my reluctance to stay overnight. He thought I should just to get some good rest. He has been pre-op diet supportive and it began to feel like a lie of omission to tell everyone, but him. His first word was "No." But he quickly started asking a few questions and it's all good. I think it really caught him off guard. I was explaining that I 'should be' 160lbs according to the charts. I told him I dont really ever expect that exactly, but that I had a LONG way to go in that direction. I honestly don't believe I am built to be thin or skinny. That doesn't mean I don't want to be a little less thick! He knows I have been going hard in the gym & he knows my blood pressure/joint issues. He knows I have been lectured about when not if I developed diabetes. It was all such a non-issue.... I feel weird about my embarrassment & defiance that kept me from telling him all this time. I can't dwell on that now. What's done is done & I am keeping it moving!!

What Are You Looking Forward To Most?
RhondaMarie replied to kittylove32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All such GREAT rewards! In the TMI category ... I am already feeling more confident being intimate with my man. I am looking towards that increasing even more!! I think I am very lucky that I have always been able to tie my shoes or paint my toes or walk around a store... My perspective is already different b/c I realize some of what I have taken for granted. Believe me... I have a LONG way to go to goal, but y'all that REALLY have had to start at ground zero... y'all are such AMAZING inspiration! ! Reading your joyous reports of achievement... it takes my breath away!! Please don't take this wrong b/c it's meant right... I always think if they can do this than I sure as heck can!! They make me understand how lucky I am this is happening for me at this point of my life. I mean this from the bottom of my heart.... ALL of you are going to deserve credit in my soon to be success story!! Ha! I am even teary eyed writing this. -
I am having a hard time keeping caloric intake up while on the pre-op plan. I am already eating/drinking when I am not hungry. Would it be terrible to add another shake a day for calories? I really don't want to drink another one, but eating cottage cheese all day doesn't sound any more appealing. SF pudding... Jello... applesauce ... oatmeal... I would have to eat A LOT to close the gap between what I am getting and the .5 BMR to stay out of starvation mode. Thanks in advance for your input!!
