I'm with ya Doxie, very well said... If nothing else, this thread has given me great insight as to who I will and will not choose to pay attention to and even more so to the fact that there will always be judgmental hypocrites in this world. I don't associate myself with those types in my real life, so I certainly won't associate myself with them here. It's just a crying shame that my "disregard list" has gotten quite a bit longer after following this thread...

confused by the post....

I'm right there on tuesday with ya ! And I'm nervous, scared, apprehensive, excited, overjoyed, and hopeful all at the same time

You know, as I've read this thread, ad nauseum given some of the self righteous and judgemental opinions, it occurs to me that perhaps all the "hostility" could have been avoided if the OP had chosen her words a little more carefully... Instead of using the word "disgusted", perhaps words like amazed, astounded, astonished, dumbfounded, or bewildered would have left a much less negative impression while conveying the same sentiment. I use terms like "disgusted" and "appalled" (along with other very colorful adjectives) to describe child predators, animal abusers, and murderers; not overeaters or food addicts; which every single one of us on this forum are. It's not what you say so much as it is how you say it that people respond to. What I find astounding is the callousness and hypocrisy of many who live in a glass house and then throw stones after they've had the good fourtune and resources to move out... I move in 3 days and I can't wait, but I know I won't be throwing stones at my own kind afterwards. No matter how much weight I lose, or how great I look and feel, I will ALWAYS be a former fatty, and all of the snide remarks, harsh judgements, dirty looks, and hurtful comments that I've endured won't ever be forgotten.

You're very welcome Sending prayers and good thoughts your way ! It could very well be something that some antibiotics will knock right out so just take a deep breath, count to 10, and make that call !
-
Fever is an indication of infection (please forgive me if that was totally stating the obvious), but since you're only 9 days out, I'd would contact my doc pronto ! Best to take no chances... Wishing you all the best !

BRAVO Tovanta !

As a "pre op person" I have no doubt that I will notice the quantity of food people eat after my surgery. I will pray that I feel pity or empathy for them, and not disgust.

Webpage Always Loads Way Tooooo Slowly! Ads A Problem!
LizInTexas replied to Angelmom's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
My pages load fine, not slow, but using the back button is a total pain in the arse !!! Sometimes have to hit the back button 7,8,9 times before it moves... googlelead.g.blah blah blah stacked up from all these ads... Yes, I use IE, but using "in private" browsing seems to help. Just a pain in the butt to have to switch to "in private" every time I come to this site. -
Awww, well that stinks !! I guess about all you can do is hang in there and know that good things are still coming, just a little bit later...

My surgeon told me that if I tested positive for h. Pylori that the treatment is a 2 week course of heavy duty antibiotics and it's done. Why rescheduled ?
-
I was thinking it might be a good idea to have some handy to help with any nausea after surgery or for those times that you simply do not want to eat.... hmmmm...
-
My surgery is scheduled for the 18th and my pre-op diet is really very lenient. Shakes for breakfast and lunch, a protein bar for a snack, and a lean an green dinner. I'm assuming the pre op diet isn't about how much you lose pre op, but what you consume (ie. way fewer carbs, starches, and sugas) so the liver will shrink. Don't sweat it and just keep doing what your surgeon has told you to do. You'll do great !!! (and me too !!!)
-
I tried it a couple days ago... Oh Yea was immediately Oh Yuck ! Took two drinks and poured it down the drain. I've tried at least a half a dozen different protein drinks and this is the only one I poured out. It was a medicinal kind of bitter and for me, totally unappealing. But everyone's tastebuds are different !!!

I, as well as most of us here know exactly how it feels to be discrimiated against or to be treated less than human because of our weight. It is one of the most hurtful and humiliating things I have ever experienced and I'll be damned if I will EVER do it to anyone else, whether I'm skinny or not. We, as former,or soon to be former fatties, should be even MORE sensitive to those suffering from the same food addictions we suffer from instead of feeling superior to them and judging them for it. Once an addict, always an addict, no matter the "drug" of choice. We are fortunate (or soon will be) to have a great tool to keep us from indulging in our addiction to food.

I guess the same differences of opinion exist with NUTS the same as Surgeons ! Such a wide variety of opinion out there... It seems like just about anything goes... Guess I'll just continue to do my own research and stick with the science -

Mell, if you have found a "shot" that isn't primarily a collagen protein (its usually listed in the tiny tiny print) PLEASE PLEASE do let us know !!! I'd love to have that many grams in such a small amount of liquid ! -
My surgery is coming up fast and I'm having all the same doubts and fears. It's a normal part of the process. I'm an over thinker too and can drive myself crazy with the greatest of ease, so I've just been telling myself to "get over it and get on with it" ! I spoke to a good friend of mine last night who used the same surgeon for his sleeve and he's lost 110 pounds in 5 months !!! He said even with a stricture he had to have stretched, he's do it again 100% no question... Hang in there, think good, positive thoughts, and visualize what your life is going to feel like when you're so much less the physical person you are now ! I've decided my mantra/prayer going into surgery is gonna be "keep me safe, and wake me up" ! I'm sure that it will get much longer as time gets closer...

Grocery List
LizInTexas replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm preping for my surgery in a week and asked my NUT about these shots (hey it's 42g in only 3.8 oz !). I was told to read the label very closely. Most all of these "shots" (at least the dozen or so I've looked at) are primarily made of collagen protein and our bodies cannot absorb collagen protein. In other words, these shots are pretty much worthless. Very disappointing indeed... -
How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?

4ALongerLife... so sorry you are having such awful difficulties with your recovery. Firstly, I have had numerous surgeries and totally understand the concept that sometimes **** just happens and no one is to blame. I have a variety of metal plates, screws, staples, and scars, so trust me, I understand. My post "some who have post surgical complications are responsible for causing them (at least partially)" wasn't fingerpointng at everyone, or anyone. My response was to Kiwi, who had her surgery on August 9th (with insurance), so I'm sure she heard all the same information regarding protein that everyone else who has had, or is in the process of having the surgery has. I am self pay as well, without insurance, so I didn't have to attend umpteen classes and dr. visits to satisfy an insurance company requirements. I have had to gather this information for myself from many sources. I can only assume that your level of frustration is off the charts, and understandably so. Some people's taste buds change, some don't. Some have no problem getting things down, some can't get anything down. Some bounce right back, some don't. Some contribute to or cause their complications, some don't. I'm sorry if you felt my post was an accusation. It was merely a personal observation/opinion based on the hundreds of hours I've spent researching and speaking to WLS patients. I sincerely hope that you continue to heal without any further complications. I listen to all ideas, suggestions, and points of view, but it's up to each individual how they use that information. I have two dear friends that have been sleeved. One has had problems with everything since surgery (not the life threatening kind), and the other hasn't had any problems at all. One sees the glass half empty, the other sees the glass half full. One says "I can't" and the other says "I will". I'm sure you get my drift... -
How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?
LizInTexas replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in Food and Nutrition
Carrie, I couldn't agree more ! I can't imagine how anyone who had done even a little bit of research or half way listened to their doc or nut could even remotely think that NOT getting the protein in is even an option... I'm a firm believer that some who have post surgical complications are responsible for causing them (at least partially) by not following the program and then they lay blame on the surgeon/surgery. Some folks, unfortunately, do have botched surgery, but some push the envelope (like eating solids before they're supposed to because they're sick of liquids/mushies) and do the damage themselves, and they end up having a terribly tough time because of their own poor decisions. I have no doubt that I will be totally sick of shakes, popcicles, and broth but until my body says otherwise, that's exactly what I'll be consuming. My surgeon has a very liberal pre and post op diet, but I'm going to tighten it up a bit just to be on the safe side. I'm not an old fart yet, but I'm not in my 30's anymore either and stuff just tends to heal slower the older you get... just sayin ! I'm already fighting the chicken out syndrome ! It's not the surgery itself that scares me so much, it's the going under part... -
