Finally, I get up and get to see my weight with a "1" in the front instead of a "2". It has been 3 years or more since I have witnessed that, and even then, it was only for a fleeting glimpse. It is amazing how much a different a pound can make when you are going from 200lbs. to 199lbs. I even feel thinner today!
-
I am definitely telling myself to not get comfortable. I am going to have to be real careful this next couple of days if I never want to see that "2" again.

The force it requires to push the needle in and then even more force to pull it out amazed me. With all that force, it seems like it should hurt, but it isn't a part of you. My doc doesn't even numb it. Since the needle only has to penetrate skin and not muscle, I don't feel anymore than a little sting. Sometimes, there is a little bleeding though.

Cant get over the hump...this cant be the end!
myfoursons replied to Ole Miss Chic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This theory has always worked for me everytime I have dieted. There are many times when we plateau and the tendency is to force ourselves to eat less and less to get that scale to go down. When this happens to me, I take one day to eat complete crap, whatever I want. Everytime without fail, within one to two days after doing that, I start dropping again. I think it is just a signal to your body that it isn't actually starving and to give up on trying to hold you back. Now, I am not saying to do this often. I only use it when I am having a plateau that I cannot seem to break. -
Does anyone else use Profect for their Protein supplementation? I swear by it. 25 grams of protein, 100 calories, zero fat, zero carbs in only 3 oz. of liquid. Plus no chocolate or vanilla, if you are sick of that. It comes in 8 different fruity flavors. Plus, it doesn't have to be refrigerated. Very convenient! Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has tried mixing profect with anything to make a smoothie or something similar? I want to branch out, but I am not that adventuresome to try it.

This thread is funny. I couldn't resist looking to see what it was about.

I had a pain under my ribs on my left side that was excruciating if I breathed in too deeply or moved a certain way. My doc said it was from the diaphram getting irritated during surgery. When they go in they bump it and rub up against it and it gets inflammed. It took awhile to go away, but it eventually did.

Do you wear a Medical ID bracelet due to the Band?
myfoursons replied to TheCascadian's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a card paperclipped to my ID. It just states that I have a device implanted to assist in weight loss. Instead of a photo of me, it has a photo of the xray showing the band placement on it. It indicates that if I am in a car accident, the port site needs to be checked since it is in the bottom middle of my chest (right where the seatbelt crosses). -
You can buy them at Protica.com. They are a little pricey, but I justified it by telling myself that it is less than I spent a day on eating out before. Plus, I don't necessarily use one every day. I have tried all flavors and there aren't any that I absolutely did not like. Drinking something that sweet takes some getting used to, but it sounds like they may be less sweet than the NewWhey. I went with Profect over the NewWhey because nutritionists say you can only absorb 25-30 grams of Protein at one time, so I felt the additional protein didn't make a difference.

Does anyone else just sit around and wonder what they will look like when they lose all their weight? I was always thin growing up. I rapidly started gaining weight after I had kids. So, I can kind of imagine what I will look like, but then again I can't. I know what I looked as a thin teenager, but have no idea what I will look like as a thin 30 something yr old mother of four. I can't even imagine what it must be like for those who have been overweight their whole life. Thinking of yourself thin is almost like meeting an acquaintance that you have never met in real life. You have this image of what they will look like in your head, but they may look totally different. For those that already have lost all their weight, are you more shocked at what you used to look like compared to now or more shocked more at what you look like now than what you used to? Hope that question makes sense.
-
That is funny. My appearance still shocks me, too. Probably because I tend to look at myself as little as possible. I don't want any pictures of me, nor do I really care to see them when they are. It's kind of sad. I just haven't felt like "me" for years, so I guess it has been hard for me to confront.

Keeping it a secret?
myfoursons replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I tell everyone about my band. The only person I haven't told is my dad. He lives in a different state and I want him to be surprised. By the time I see him next, I am hoping to have lost a considerable amount of weight. Surprise Dad! lol -
The Centrum chewables are fine. The doc probably said the Flintstones because they are more known are readily available. I used the Centrum. It is better than digging the sugary Flintstones out of your teeth all day.

When I worked in a hospital, I used to weigh myself on the laundry scale. I wasn't as heavy back then. I just thought it was fun .

I had a banana, peanut butter, chocolate protein powder smoothie from Juice Stop for brunch. I am having Zesty Nachos from Taco Bell for dinner. Not the most nutritious day. I am just feeding my cravings. I need sweet and spicy today...looks like I took care of that.

I felt fatigued for about a month. Even though I am getting all my Protein now, I still feel that way some days. I am almost 2 months out. I find on the days I exercise that I really do have more energy. I am sure it is a hard transition for the body to go from eating 3600+ calories a day to around 600 though.
-
Sounds good! I had been craving something sweet latey. I decided to go to a juice Stop and treat myself. The smoothie I had was made with banana, low fat frozen yogurt, chocolate flavored Protein poweder, and Peanut Butter. Got my chocolate fix and a lot of protein all in one. Yum!

Should Pets be more than Property?
myfoursons replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think they are going to find that they have been spreading rat poison around the wheat crops in China to keep rats from damaging the crops. China does produce "human grade" wheat and "pet grade" wheat. I know they do this with meats. For example, meats that have fallen on the floor or are parts that humans don't consume can be considered "pet grade". But why wheat? It isn't like parts of it can't be consumed. What would be the need to have different grades of meat for humans and animals? I don't get it. -
It almost sounds like you now have the restriction you should of had in the first place. Maybe your band wasn't quite in the right position and it slipped into place. Hopefully, just getting it loosened up will be fine. I am trying to stay optimistic for you. Hope it helps!

My docs said that the tubing itself holds an average of 1.2 cc's. It depends on how long it was cut. So, it isn't unusual for the band to be able to be filled more than the 4 cc's.

From a size 30 to a 14/16. Ignore her, you are soooo far from that now. She is just being silly and jealous or something.

What were your incisions closed with?
myfoursons replied to faithmd's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Staples for me. They pulled a lot and caused quite a bit of soreness. I didn't like it, but I got over it. -
Pay for the band! Poll!
myfoursons replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Right under $2000 total out of pocket for me. -
World of Warcraft one for me, too. I am a Wow addict. That show was great. Although, being a level 60 isn't that big of a deal now :straight . Of course, the salty chocolate balls episode is a classic!

Wow..everyone is doing such an amazing job! I get a little jealous looking at some of these posts .
