Hi! I am a January bandster, too.

Well, every consideration has been covered but one. Men can start having dramatic decreases in the amount of testosterone they produce around the age of 40. This definitely has an effect in that area. Besides looking at the diabetes factor, I would ask your doc to draw some blood and get a testosterone level. It is easy to replace, there are shots, gels, and Patches. If you are truly low on testosterone, replacing it will even help in weight loss and muscle development.

Yes, I would call Dr. Hoehn. He is really nice. I am sure Dr. Malley is a fine doc, but there is a lot of controversy surrounding him. Every bariatric doctor in this area finds his practices to be questionable. With all the controversy, and not knowing what was true and what was not, I decided to steer clear of Dr. Malley.

I am thinking as long as you have done your part up to that point, it will all be okay. You don't have any control on when you get insurance approval and when you get scheduled. I would just call them and say,"Hey, I have been doing my part to quit smoking, but I am getting in faster than I thought and it won't be a complete 6 weeks. Is that okay?" At least you will have an answer.

Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?

We have created a monster. This thread has a mind of its own. -
I feel it is common for people to say how they see things while sitting back and excluding themselves. I mean, he could have said, "It's an all white church besides us." But, I think that is a given that he wouldn't have to clarify. Also, since he is new to the area, he may not consider himself a member. So, he tries out the church and finds his family is the only black family. He is still going to see it as an all white church. Just like I attended AME when I was a kid. I was the only white child. There was one interaccial couple, but I still saw it as an all black church.

Actually, if you would have read my posts more thoroughly you would see that I am not from the south. I am from Kansas. I stated that his familyhad just moved here from Alabama. Additionally, in another post, I stated that he doesn't know our situation and I do not know his and I decided to just leave it at that. His past experiences may have led to that statement, and I understand that. Even then, it was not appropriate to say that to someone. It really caught my husband off guard to think his boss feels that this would be something he would be concerned with. It has now created a little bit of discomfort between them I think. As for how he is treated here, I am not sure. We live in the only consistantly blue county in Kansas. It is an extremely liberal town. The town is full of all races, ethnicities, sexualities, and religions. It is also full of vegetarians, vegans, and hippie types. It has a University, so it is very diverse. The area is very accepting as far as I can tell he probably receives less "looks" here than he did in Alabama. But I am not a minority, so I can't say for sure.

I am going in for a fill again tomorrow. I still feel that I don't have enough restriction. So, I am filling again about 2.5 weeks before I expected to.

Did they drop your bellybutton on the floor or something?....lol Every tummy tuck I have seen on TV, they just relocate the old bellybutton. I didn't know you could come out without one:omg: . -
You are copying it into the "Edit Signature" portion of the user CP on here right? I am sorry if this seems obvious. I am just trying to figure it out. When you copy it in and preview the signature, what do you see? If it is working when you preview, are you saving it afterwords?
-
you should be able to copy the entire thing in. Make sure you saved your ticker to the site first. I think there is a way to advance to the next page and it shows your ticker as others will see it. Go to that page, then back to the codes and try again. Make sure everything is copying. If that doesn't work, then I am not sure. When it works, you will be able to preview your signature and be able to see it.
-
After you create your ticker, the last page gives you three different code options to embed the ticker into your signature. You need to copy the code that says "bbCode". It will show <img> in it. Then past it into your signature box on LBT site. That is in the Edit Signature page of your profile. Make sure to save your changes. After that, anytime you want to update, you can just click on your ticker, put in your password and make the necessary changes.

the tilted port. Mine is tilted when I stand. Luckily, when I lie on my back, it flattens out. :phanvan

Your story is great and very inspring. Congrats to your wife for reaching goal, too. You both have done great.

but your question made me wonder about something. If you have insurance, but it doesn't cover the lap band procedure because it is experimental or weight loss surgery isn't covered or whatever reason they give... if the band slips, it is cinsidered a medical condition at that point, right? I mean, the fixing of the band is no longer to lose weight, it then becomes justifiable health condition just like any other. I am not sure if this is how it works, but it was just my way of thinking that they could not deny fixing it if something goes wrong that could harm you.

the fact that someone tried to take a shot at the expense of others and the board was turned around and made light of was our own way of ranting and raving. To each their own, right? -
Opinions: My bi-polar sister wants to have my baby.
myfoursons replied to Poodles's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You are right. I did develop my opinion off of some assumptions. It seemed that the poster was most concerned about the baby being bipolar, so I answered to that. I assumed that she was unconcerned or comfortable with how her sister would handle the situation, simply because it wasn't discussed. She did say her sister had a family of her own and didn't mention any ongoing issues. But I do agree, the emotional issues are much more of a concern than the physical/hereditary issues. -
Sushi! I hope I can get back to eating that someday. In much smaller portions of course.

we aren't guaranteed anything in life. Anytime we choose to have children, we are taking the risk of having a child that has something wrong. Whether you birth the child or someone else does...whether you know of the risks or don't know...the risk is always there. Three of my four children were born with significant health issues. All of the issues were not related, nor were they conditions known to be hereditary. We went through a lot with our kids and I wouldn't change any of it for all the money in the world. Our trials in life teach us and develop us into who we are. We are all different and none of us our perfect. Why deprive yourself of a child because it might have some disorder (a fairly common one at that), one that could happen no matter who the mother was. Just my opinion. -
