I take my lunch daily and find it tiring. This is my routine and I hope it helps. I have access to a microwave and a toaster oven. I tend to take leftovers from the night prior especially greens and Protein. What I found worked for me early on was to write a menu monthly and stick it on the fridge and stick to it. I make a pot of soup on Sunday and eat it all week. I know your tired of soup, but do you have fresh soup or canned. I find it makes a difference. I use the americas test kitchen cookbook and alter as needed. I shop at costco and they have pregrilled sliced chicken breasts that are really handy. Chicken tortilla Turkey chilli with Beans and a sprinkle of cheese; I even toss in half a hot dog too or guacamole Senate bean soup with ham Chicken and vegtable soup Pasta fagoli soup less the pasta Beef and veg soup protein and steamed veg from prior dinner chicken stew black bean soup Potato ham soup

Vitamins And Supplements?
melting me replied to Jenny881's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been taking the optipure chewables from unjury. One a day and the taste is good. -
Yes it is, but the pharmacist said there was an over the counter variety. I recommend the rx as it is much cheaper depending on the insurance you may have. If you can't get it from the surgeon call your primary care.

I eat my tuna like a crab tower. Fresh salsa, avacado. It is amazing how much better food tastes when it looks pretty. This works for me with crab, salmon, shrimp, and halibut.

What's Your Pros
melting me replied to PhatGirl1975's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I knew it was time when I couldn't get out of bed anymore. The body aches and pains were so great that it consumed my life. I watched others make this life change and fail regaining all and more of the weight in a year or two. I knew it was time when I heard my 5 year old tell her sister that she couldn't play because her back hurt too bad. I have lost over 50 pounds in 2 months and feel like a new person. I was at the park this weekend with the family and ran after my 3 year old. I wasn't able to do that before. We all played, I could fit on the slide and in a swing. It felt great. I have been wearing clothes that I haven't been able to wear in over 5 years. I can do things today that I couldn't do before. I have more self confidence, stand taller, and above all respect myself. This was not an easy choice to make, but I am a new, improved version of myself and don't regret a moment. -
It smelled like rotten chicken and tasted even worse. I don't know if mine was bad. Everyone raves about it.

Cant Get Enough Protein Down…
melting me replied to Jenny881's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried the unjury unflavored and it smelled like old bad chicken. I am too having an issue with the Protein. It was suggested as before for the premixed shakes. I can tolerate the Isopure rtd in fruit flavors, but they are $5 a bottle and 1 bottle is about 40 g of protein. At $35 per week the cost added up fast. I can't take the chewable Vitamins as they are soo sickly sweet. I have been opening a capsule onto a spoon and swallowing it with sugar free cool whip. My biggest issue is that the protein shakes are so sickly sweet. I have not tried the unjury chicken broth protein yet. I have made an effort to eat my protein as much as possible and have been using myfitnesspal.com to track my intakes. I know for myself I don't want to eat anything and am making every effort. -
Milk, Or Lack There Of.
melting me replied to Imjustmee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink soy lattes as a treat and have always liked soy milk. I just started them with the protein. Not as thick as the cow milk which is a major plus for me. -
I don't think so. They are calcium carbonate and I was told to stay away. I take a melting hearburn pill daily from the surgeon prilosec. This is a known issue with Bariatric surgery. If the surgeon will not provide a script I would call my primary care or just go the the pharmacy and ask for a melting product or chewable product. I have issues at times still and I am 2 months out.

Weight Loss Panic!
melting me replied to mendymayhem's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be strong. You are stronger than you think. Still post op I have head hunger. Something that helps me is mindfull eating and understanding the emptiness of head hunger vs. actual hunger. Head hunger for me is an emptiness or hollowness that I feel when I am stressed or just sitting around at night watching tv. I started volume eating prior to surgery to lose weight. I started with my lean protein and once 3/4 of the way thru it ate my veg. As veg has very few calories if not dressed and sw imming in oil or butter I was able to eat about a 1/2 a pound of steamed veg to fill me up. I drank a full glass of water prior to every meal and cut out or realy down the carbs. I was mindful of everything I put in my mouth and wrote it down. -
I have been doing Muay Thai which works everything. My core hasn't been this strong in years. I have also had a c section.
-
I drink one cup of regular coffe twice a week on sat/sun. I drink a small soy latte everyonce in a while and have had no issues.
-
I have noticed that my cycle has changed. I am heavier than before, but it only lasts for 3 days instead of 5. I had cramps for the first time ever last month also.

Only 35Lbs Down And Able To Eat Too Much :-(
melting me replied to RainyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your not able to tolerate water - I was told this happens and I have the same issue. I put cukes, citrus, a table spoon on cranberry or pomegranate juice in it, drink unsweet teas, and crystal light. I thought there was something wrong with me. My surgeon said it happened sometimes and that it would change over time. I also have intolerance for sickly sweet. I have been drinking the isopure protein rtd which I am able to get down easier than the milkshake kind. I tried the unflavored unjury protein and it smelled so bad i couldn't tolerate it. I'm not sure if it was bad or if it is all like that. -
No, it is just another hoop for you to jump thru to prove commitment. Good Luck. It was worth all the bs in the end. I have lost 50lbs since surgery on 7/31 and feel better than I have in years.

Make it up as you think you remember. I can't remember last week never mind 10 years of failures. I do know that as I dieted I always gained more weight in the end than when I started.
-
I listed 10 years of diets from Jenny Craig, south beach... If you name it I tried it and I put it all to show my failures. It was embarassing and made me feel horrible.
-
CONGRATS! This was the best decision I could have made for the rest of my life. I wish you the same luck.

Only 35Lbs Down And Able To Eat Too Much :-(
melting me replied to RainyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stalled at 40lbs only 2 weeks after surgery and have been in a stall for over 30 days. I workout, eat well, and am getting the protein. I can tell my clothes are loose, I'm 6 sizes smaller, but the weight hasn't changed. Don't freak out, worry, or stress. Just keep doing what your supposed to be doing. You are in control. -
I know that the cravings are hard. I watch the family eat chickfila and pizza and crave it, but I know deep down that is why I'm fat. What do the feed cows to fatten them up? cor. What is a main item in almost everything you listed, Corn. Try mixing taco seasoning in with the ground meat you eat. I eat a hot dog in smal slices with chili occasionally. At this stage you have to be creative. I like Guacamole on my tuna. Working to make a creative plate helps, but of course eating the same thing daily is hard. After surgery I put a cheeto in my mouth and sucked on it crunched it twice, spit it out and rinsed. I had to have something salty, crunchy and bad for me. You can do it. Just remember your fat pix and keep a pair of the fat pants to compare yourself when you have the big cravings.

Having A Hard Hard Time
melting me replied to Jessica89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The pre op diet was very difficult for me. I sought the help of my family and tots. I felt horrible and wanted to eat everything in sight. Did I cheat, yes. Did I have remorse, yes. Yet, I did my best, lost weight and have been healthier every day since. Today I am 33 days post surgery and want a salty, crunchy experience and can't for 3 more weeks. You can do it. -
Smetimes I Just Want To Have Dinner!
melting me replied to suzjag's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 33 days out, I think it been difficult. I eat Tuna with avocado sort of like a crab tower without the greens, turkey chili with 3 Beans, crab salad, shrimp salad, egg salad, chicken salad For dinner tonight we had hunters style pork chops with roasted carrots and mushrooms Roasted eggplant, zuke, tomatos without seeds with a sprinkle of parm cheese Pot roast with the roasted veg I eat what the family eats in smaller portions. I haven't been to eat. I just make sure that I utilize my grill, broiler and cut out the oil, butter and junk. I haven't tried this yet, I just found it. http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/cookbooks.asp?cookbook=13807 -
Frustration With Protien
melting me replied to bubles089's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't drink the Protein shakes with milk any more. It took me about 2 weeks to be able to drink a protien drink in under 3 hours. I started drinking 2 ounces, putting it back in the fridge, coming back 30 minutes later and drinking more until it was all gone. I have developed a distaste for them. I started drinking the Isopure zero carb Protein Shakes from GNC. I can drink plain milk, but the taste of the protein is intolerable. I also can not drink plain Water. It actually turns my stomach and causes pain. I talked to the surgeon and he suggested mixing up the Protein drinks with more variety including ice cubes in the blender, Peanut Butter or a bit of a bananna. He gave me a list of about 50 variations to try and suggested citrus or cukes in the water to change the make up enough. I am 32 days out from surgery now and have found that if I don't drink the protein I don't lose. I haven't lost a pound in 3 weeks because I wasn't getting enought calories. I also started using a straw eventhough it is not suggested because if helps. -
Good day all. I am 15 days out from surgery, I have stopped losing weight. Not an ounce in 5 days. I have been very active walking about 30-45 minutes per day. I have been consuming my protein and water. No mush allowed for another week. Is this normal? Any advice to get things going again?

Calcium Citrate
melting me replied to going to make this work's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found a liquid form at the health food store. I am able to take a tablespoon twice a day. It is a bit chalky, but I feel its easier than grinding up any more pills. They had 6 different flavors. I was able to get liquid biotin and vitamin d. A real health food granola store not a vitamin shop.
