My file has finally been passed onto insurance!!! Thank you Lord. Hopefully they won't take too long approving. I have UHC and from a lot of threads it appears they respond quickly. We shall see!

Been through that too Marie, I was given the impression I could be in surgery before Christmas and here it is the end of Jan and I have not yet been approved however it could still happen for you. Don't stop calling! Just ask Dreamsofskinny, she called like clock work and I believe it was her persistence that got her where she is now! You are your best advocate...keep calling!

Hi Marie, you are not alone. Most of us have been disappointed with this part of the process. We will continue to push and support each other. Im just imagining myself on the losers bench! Wow, those 40 pds just came off so fast!!! lmao

@Dreamsofskinny....girl I had to absolutely lose it! I was pretty much told it could be up to 2 months before i heard anything. This included the internal review @ up to 2 weeks, bariatric coordinator at 1 week and up to 30 days for the ins company. I escalated my case to the office mgr bc that time frame is ridiculous. She said she would give me an update tomorrow. We shall see!

I've started the waiting game myself. The surgeons office has been reviewing my file since the 15th and have up to 10 bus. days to respond but as of Fri. they had not approved and passed into ins. Im thinking WTF .... you did most of my testing and all of my WL visits, why are you still sitting on my file?!?! So back to calling every other day this week!

Ok...im glad someone brought this up. Originally DH was just supportive, now he is excited which has bothered me a bit. He says he's really looking forward to my surgery. I mean what does that mean...got me feeling a bit insecure and what happens if Im not approved.

I started this process in July as my ins required a 6 month supervised WL program as if most of us have not been trying for years. What about yourself? How long from beginning to approval? Are you working with the Roswell or Atlanta office?

Welcome Ms. Pitts! I too am being sleeved by Dr. Duncan although I have not yet received my final approval. Congrats on getting your date :-) Please post updates throughout your process.

I have to agree with you 920..I have enjoyed most days as a plus size chick and I have no co-morbidities either .I've felt very beautiful as a fuller figured woman and appreciate my hour glass curvy figure. I took pride in my fluffy rear and ample bosom however I love hiking and even running but with my knees crunching carrying my weight it made for uncomfortable moments. I also know that with our weight it is very likely that at some point we will develop co-morbidities if we don't manage it now and Im not interested in experiencing that hence the wls!

I tell you what is funny and that's the fact that the bypass comes with malabsorption! I mean you have to really be going out your way to gain it back.

Glad to hear that Misty! This question is a bit tmi but wanted to know if you woke up with a catheter or did your bladder wake up immediately. I've got anxieties about all of that! ugh

Yes Ms_Jackie and congrats to you girlie @DreamsofSkinny, I pray this doesn't become a chase but you have given me hope and encouragement! I know I can get through this! We shall overcome...ha ha. Keep us posted on your surgery date! Whoop whoop :-)

Hey lady, so far when I reached out to my surgeon's office Tues they stated they are still reviewing my file internally which could take up to 10 bus. days to pass on to ins. Im going to call tomorrow afternoon to she if they have made any headway. More to come!

Hi asifitsthelast, Im sorry about your discomfort but I have read that the first few days can be tough but every day it gets a little better! Feel free to post throughout the week and we will send you words of encouragement.

Jen I think a lot of us are finding this part of the process the most difficult. It's unfortunate when you have done everything within your realm of ability and still things seem to fall through the cracks. Keep pushing lady bug! This will come to fruition!

Wow...can you share your stats with us? Any co-morbidities? What is your bmi? I just don't understand these insurance companies denying ppl who need the surgery. It's just not right!

Sweetie you posted here for a reason...because you were looking for support and feedback. Sounds like everyone is saying the same thing. Do what is going to make YOU the most content. It's all about you.

I'll have to concur with pretty much everyone here, if you don't want the surgery, DON'T DO IT! You will be the one who will have to go through the physical pain and discomfort of surgery and God forbid you experience any complications. Trust me even if you have the surgery your parents may find something..."now she's too thin!" Perhaps take this opportunity to have an adult conversation with them. Thank them for what they have instilled in them ect but moving forward you will not have anymore conversations about.your weight and if the convo ever heads in that direction exit stage left. You are so beautiful and I know what its like to want your parents to be proud and pleased, however now is the time to create boundaries. hugs
