I also ordered the unjury starter pack, since it seems like unjury is the gold standard of bariatric/medical Proteins. I know all this stuff is pricey, but since I won't be spending any cash on food for a while, I dont feel too broken up about it...

On the Amp wheybolic front, GNC has BOGO deals a LOT. I got talked into their little vip club thing...you save a good chunk of cash the first week of the month, and still get the bogo...so far, the chocolate is my fave. Not overwhelmingly chocolaty...and with ice cubes blended in, I get extra water! Who knows what my tastebuds will have to say post-op, but so far, this one seems to be my fave protein.

I totally agree. The GNC wheybolic 60 tastes good. I've used chocolate and vanilla. I do a frozen smoothie with ice cubes, milk, a little water, and a powdered vitamin supplement (also from GNC). One half serving of each gives me 30 grams if protein, all my vitamins/minerals and FIBER!! And its not a huge amount of liquid, either. I have tried Syntrax nectar also: while I LOVE the cappuccino flavor, I do not like the crystal sky. I've also tried the BariWise fruit drink mix (lemonade flavor). Couldn't even chug that stuff..it was really awful.The BariWise cappuccino flavors, on the other hand, are very tasty. I prefer the original cappucino flavor.I have not tried Isopure yet, but um leaning towards the unflavored powder to mix into soups, shakes, mashed potatoes, etc... for post op and pureed stages.

Im also going to Mexico to have surgery, and im right in the middle of choosing a PCP. I am choosing a PCP that I like, AND that is supportive of my decision to get sleeved. Its much easier if your doc supports you in your choice to get WLS. They're much more likely to work with you regarding blood tests/labs, follow up etc....If i had a PCP that refused to order a blood test because I had surgery, I'd say, "screw you...time to get a new doc!" :-) Good luck!

I do stress testing for a living...you are going to rock it. Its not even about getting to 100% of your target HR. They want to see that EKG, and of course, if you have any pain, pressure, or tightness in the chest area. Standard testing for anyone having surgery with family history or co-morbidities. I think everyone should have them pre-op...certainly would save lives!! Good luck...

Btw, it seems that taco meat is the downfall for us pre-oppers...I think you guys could've done much worse! The preop diet is not meant to be totally militant...it preps our minds, bodies and tummies for what's to come. You will not fail by cheating, if you want to call it cheating. Lean meats, celery, cucumbers, salad: these things are good for us...chill out, chomp some celery, and look forward to what's next

You know your body...if its not red and hot to the touch around the incision, its most likely not infected. Call first thing tomorrow, unless symptoms change.. Hmmm, btw, is that GEM on your Avatar? I am dating myself my saying that...

The GNC powdered vitamins are called Women's Ultra Mega Active or Maximum Nutrition dietary supplement. No sugar, 6 grams protein,5 grams dietary fiber supplements and a crapload of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc...the serving size is 2 scoops...i do one scoop twice a day, or one scoop then a couple Target brand gummy multivites. The gummies I take are good too...small, but dont have as much good stuff as the GNC powdered vitamin supplement. Im not sure what my sleeve will allow post op, but from everything I've read/heard, vitamins can be the difference between success with little to no hair loss, and gobs of hair falling out with malnutition. You are very smart to research and find something that works for you. Dont throw your other stuff away though. I've read many people taste buds and tolerance changes often! You may find those bits are fine in a couple weeks! :-)

The liquid vits are a great idea...also, I bought some powder vits at GNC, specifically for active women, and I've been putting a scoop into my shakes and smoothies(vanilla flavored, so goes goes with all my smoothie concoctions). I am still preop, so im not sure if you can do the protein shakes yet, but man, this stuff has EVERYTHING! Also has fiber, which I am going to appreciate when the inevitable constipation sets in. The vitamin stores have many options for liquid vits, and online there are tons! For a liquid option, I use Purity Products liquid multi. Purity has AMAZING deals, so call their 800# and always ask them what kind of deal they can swing for you... Good luck! Hey CCCross, where are you having your surgery? What city in MX? I wasn't totally sure where Dr Kelly practices, so I haven't put up the city yet...
