That was funny about your tummy being on the losing end of a knife fight...im sure you weren't laughing but it was an effective analogy :-) Its my pleasure to keep tabs on our Mexico peeps...i am soooo stoked that you're okay, and doing so well already!! My date is FAST approaching, and ill tell ya one thing: hearing your positive experiences makes me feel really confident in my decision to go to Mexico. There are many people in this site who've been sleeved by Dr Almanza...this site is primarily VSG (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) patients, but many have or will get revisions from their bands to VSG. Most on this site have not liked their lapbands: a few have had such awful health problems and have gotten their bands removed. The prices in Mexico --lately-- for the sleeve surgery is $4500-7500. I have not heard of anyone doing a sleeve for that cheap. If you're interested in getting the lap band, I dont think you'll find many people on this site that are pleased with the lap band...hence the reason they've gotten a revision or will be sleeved. That doesn't mean there arent people happy with their lapbands...That being said, I've heard good and bad things about Dr Almanza....GOOD LUCK!

Great question! I had a HSA a couple years ago, and I would take $ out to buy bandaids, gauze pads , flu shots, etc...i never used it for actual doctor visits or care (I didn't need it. I was pretty healthy) but I never had to explain what I was using it for. That would be sooo awesome if you could use the funds for care out of the US...I mean, its not like you're getting a nosejob or something: this is a healthcare situation!

Oh, and uh, Go Niners .

Sorry to barge in on the circle of manliness, but seriously, carmelguy, you're gonna rock this shi*!!! This is the moment we've all been waiting for...this is our reset button. Its a big tool in our chest of new patterns and habits. We get a window of time to drop all the bad stuff that got us here in the first place. Its our chance to live our lives and finally be free to do things we might not have done for decades .... We're all in this together. Btw, are you from Carmel? Or do you have a love for misspelled creamy sweet treats from the heavens ? (I live in Seaside...my surg is Oct 27th: Mexico, baby. Im so sorry to hear that Lil'lo. It seems lucky, though, that they were able to take that awful band out of your body...thete are so many other things you can still do to get healthy! Keep going, and dont give up.
