    Celery Is A No-No, But ......

Hello Mis73 - I've been told and read that celery and asparagus are not "band friendly" because they're stringy & fibrous -supposedly don't go down well. But it's good to know you can manage both because they're foods I'd miss. Eventually I'll try them and chew very well. Thanks!

    Another Success Story!

That's awesome to hear - so motivating!!
  3. I know celery and asparagus are not allowed, however, is it ok to eat tuna or chicken salad with diced celery and/or onions? How about asparagus tips? Thanks

    A Little Upset

View each day as a new beginning - you can't "undo" yesterday, but you can start fresh today. We all have bad days but one constant I've noticed from the success stories here is that when people fall off the "bandwagon" they don't stay on it the wrong track long, they get right back on track and keep moving forward. Don't beat yourself up, you're human and we all make bad choices. Just get back on track and keep going!! You can do it!

    A Little Upset

The Lose It App is excellent!! I was using Simple Calorie and tried Fitness Pal. The tips and suggestions on this site are so helpful! Each day I learn something new, pick up a new tip or suggestion and I'm reminded that I'm not alone on this journey - the success others have achieved is so motivating!! thanks!!

    August Roll Call

I was banded Aug. 3!! Each day is getting better.........
  7. Congratulations Karen for taking the first steps. I'm new to all this, too. I'm 8 days post op and did all my homework before deciding to do it. Took many months. I thought about it for a long time and when I did mention it to family or friends, they would react very negatively with comments about me not needing something so drastic, not being "big enough" or how people die from weight loss surgery. The responses were not supportive at all! One suggestions was, "just stop eating" Educate yourself and make the decision that's best for you! The advise of doctors you respect and trust will guide your decision. I chose NOT to tell anyone other than my husband and my doctors - maybe that will change one day, but for now I need to keep my attitude positive and the negative naysayers are not what I need. My PCP and OB/GYN supported this decision and right now I'm not up for the comments or questions. This site also provides great support!! Best wishes to you!!
  8. LOL!! PS Congrats on your super weight loss - very motivating!
  9. Thanks - makes sense and your comment about the scar tissue forming justifies why it seems to be getting worse. It's attaching and pulling as I heal - - Thanks for the rationale!! Looking forward to each day getting better and better.......and it is.
  10. I was banded on Aug. 3 and each day is getting better and better - it helps to read this site! However.........I have this area a few inches to the left of my belly button that I often experience a sudden, very painful "stinging or pulling" sensation when I attempt to move from side to side in bed or simply stand up from sitting. I've also felt it when I've bent down to pick something up. It is very painful and feels like I'm pulling something inside. It's like a terrible stinging sensation, takes my breath away, then passes after a while. Could it be a nerve, muscle or where the port is attached? I feel as though it's getting worse as I heal and these normal movements seem to "tweak" it and bring it on. I have my post op appt, next week but will call today to see what the dr. thinks. Has anyone experienced this??? Thanks for your input!
  11. I'm new to this........ 2 days post op- still on special diet. Thanks for the recipe ideas, they will eventually come in handy!! Do you post menus regularly?
